Cooking and baking are two of my favorite hobbies. I hesitated on buying another cookbook but am so glad I decided to after reading many reviews. I have made the banana muffins, brownies, and turkey meatballs with pasta and they were all so easy to make and delicious! I will be making the orange chicken tomorrow. She uses ingredients that I wouldn’t have thought to use in certain recipes like using ricotta cheese in the Turkey meatballs. Also uses honey instead of sugar in a lot of recipes which I think is healthier.

I read a review that the buttery croissants were there grossest thing that they have ever made, but I completely disagree! It was absolutely delicious! I actually chose to buy my croissants at Starbucks for this recipe, because they have the best croissants in my opinion. The croissants at grocery stores tend to lack a lot of flavor by itself.. So, I think the key to this is to have good croissants to begin with and high quality cheese. Not every croissants taste the same. The same goes for cheeses even if they are both the same type of cheese. The different brands and companies do taste different..
That being said- I LOVE THIS BOOK! It is simple, but a little on the tedious side. There is just a lot of ingredients and prepping. But that is why the recipes taste GREAT with a lot of flavor.
Other recipes I have tried:
1. Frico & Polenta fried eggs: were good, but not excellent. And, I used DeLallo quick cooking polenta. It says it’ll feed 1, but I think it feeds 2. Or, it can be like a side dish to some bacons or something else.. It’s just too much for an entree, because you get sick of it fast.
2. Pressure cooker mash potatoes: excellent. Very flavorful! Different!
3. Gingered Apple pork chops: excellent! I didn’t have Apple cider on hand so I used 3/4c Apple juice instead. I also used green grapes instead of red!
4. Rosemary peach bruschetta chicken: excellent!
5. Coconut chicken tikka masala: excellent only, because I add my touches to it, and that is 2 hand fulls of basils (chopped), and about 2-3 tbsp of honey. Taste like Indian food! Loved it!
6. Sheet pan Cuban steak: excellent!
7. Beef bourguignon: good. It really does pair well with the pressure cooker mash potatoes in this book.
8. The butter croissants as stated above: excellent!
9. Egg in hole with tomatoes and bacon: amazing! However, I used whatever I had on hand, which is homemade sourdough bread from Five Minutes A Day bread book, pesto from Jamie Oliver instead of her homemade recipe, and grape tomatoes (halves) instead of heirloom. It.. was.. delicious!
For me, this book was well written, and superb in execution and taste! One of the best cookbook out there.. I have to say though, she does love her bacon as a base ingredient for most recipes!

The percent cook book and recipes! I love her food blog online but having a real cook book is so fun and easier to use when cooking! I also got this for a house warming gift for a friend when they bought their house. She loves it and uses it all the time!

I already have this author’s other recipe book and love it. I think this book’s recipes are a little bit easier and everything is so well explained. I love the basic recipes too, as they are often overlooked. The book also has a lot of sections/categories which I can appreciate, there is something for vegetarians, meat lovers, seafood and bakers. I would have liked more baked recipes or desserts, I think there are about 10 or 12, but I would prefer more as follow this author on Instagram and she bakes so well. One of my favourite cookbooks of 2019-2020. Buy IT!!!!

 What a gorgeous book! This is the 2nd release from Half Baked Harvest (AKA Tieghan Gerard) that I’ve purchased – the other being Half Baked Harvest Cookbook: Recipes from My Barn in the Mountains.
What initially got me hooked on her website, social media, and now books, are the gorgeous photographs and incredible effort put forth into each and every recipe, layout, and design. It’s the total package that makes you drool every time you peruse the pages.
I’ll admit to being plant-based (except for fish… yes, yes, it’s called pescatarian, but I didn’t want the uniformed to think I was bringing religion into this discussion lol… you either get it or you don’t, it’s called a ‘dad joke’), so there are a number of recipes that do I will never eat… sorry Quick Filipino Adobo… sorry Spiced Lamb Hummus… sorry Dry-Rubbed Grilled Steak.
Buttttttt….. HELLO The Meanest, Greenest Pizza… HELLO Lemon Basil Pasta with Balsamic Brussels Sprouts…. and I certainly couldn’t forget about you Black Pepper Buffalo Cauliflower Bites and your delicious ranch side sauce – get in my belly!

I do appreciate the section dedicated to vegetarians. My only real complaint is that I wish there were more plant-based options or recipes that it was easy enough to make the meat optional and this is why I deducted one star. It just seems like part of the target audience is the plant based crowd, so it would be helpful to make it slightly more user friendly for them.
What differentiates this book from her other one is that this is focused on making your life slightly easier by taking the time and difficulty out of cooking. The majority of the recipes are tailored to Instant Pots/Crock-Pot, overnight, meal-prepping, and overall ease of use. I’d consider this a great companion book to pair with the first release of slightly more complicated, time intensive recipes… hence the title, Super Simple.
The guidance is straight-forward, obviously the pictures are beautiful, instructions make sense, and it’s all presented/laid out in an intelligent fashion, at least in my opinion.
A few of my favorites aside from the ones mentioned above are the Autumn Harvest Salad (84), Butter-Roasted Tomato Soup with Honey’d Brie Grilled Cheese (103), and the Maple Glazed Cardamom Apple Fritters (40).
