Unlike reviews who tell you what the show is about, assuming that the buyer isn’t familiar with the show, I will just tell you information pertaining to what you are getting for your money.
General Info:
The entire series is in a bulk plastic case where two DVDs at a time snap into a sleeve. Just the box art on the front and the back. This saves packaging and money, but isn’t the most secure way to store DVDs. They can get loose and get scratched and damaged. Thankfully, none of my DVDs were damaged, however some had some smudges on them. These were easily fixed with a gentle cleaning with Alcohol and tissue.
DVD Quality:
Be sure to inspect ALL DVDs when you first get the package. Don’t wait a year or more to discover that the last DVDs don’t play. Unless you intend to binge watch right away, if there are any defects, you won’t find them within the ‘product return window’. Mine were perfect but I’ve read reviews from others who sadly got a defective set. Check yours when you get it!
Check for scratches or ‘clouding’ in the DVD surface. If you don’t see any obvious blemishes in the playable surface the disc should be fine. Again, this particular set seems to have fragile DVDs. Be sure to handle them with care, clean them with alcohol & tissue gently and you should be fine. When I had some glitches in playback, the cleaning fixed that right away. The quality of the DVDs is excellent in playback. What is lacking is a lot of extras per season. They have a few episodes with ‘deleted scenes’ included but you will have to sacrifice those DVD extra features like commentary, featurettes or ‘the making of’ videos when you get a bulk collection like this. It’s pretty much just the episodes and that’s it.
Bare Bones presentation:
No literature, booklets or pamphlets included. Just the episodes and no real extras. This is fine if you just want to binge watch the show. If you’re a super fan who wants more, then this is not the collection for you, but if you’re committed to at least binge watch the entire series, then this box collection is excellent for your needs.
Final Assessment:
Very pleased with my purchase. Some buyers think they’re being asked to ‘review the show’, but I think Amazon wants us to ‘review the product’. This DVD box set, though a little fragile IMHO, is still an excellent value for the money. Just be careful with the DISCs and they will give you years of playback enjoyment. I won’t state how the scripts are great or the acting is excellent, because you wouldn’t be considering buying the entire series if you didn’t already know that, right? 😉

First off, I am a 67-yr-old male Christian. The sacrilegious nature of the show has inflamed many, but I know who God and Satan are, and view this as fantasy, portrayed like Greek or Roman gods. I’m not going to get into a twist about believing it will influence people to think the Devil is good. OK. 1 – the premise is preposterous 2 – sacrilegious 3 – written for young males with all the sex and sexual innuendo 4 – written for young females with the all the romance 5 – lots of lesbianism/bisexuality 6 – weak “Murder She Wrote”-style mysteries each episode. But, I really liked this show. I rolled my eyes many times, but this is one of the few series that I’ve purchased on DVD/Bluray/digital. The video quality of “Lucifer” on DVD is nowhere near Netflix streaming, but I don’t care. It’s humorous, light viewing – and I can’t believe how much I enjoyed watching it. As far as the packaging: nothing I haven’t seen before – broken hard plastic interior trays, but the main plastic case is OK and slides into an attractive cardboard sleeve. I have no problem recommending this set if you’re a “Lucifer” fan.

Just got it today, already watching, so far so good on dvd quality. The only thing the plastic case it comes in was crappy. Half the dvds were loose. Hopefully none of them scratched.
