We were looking forward to a John Wayne-esque style of a cowboy/western genre. But we were not stupid, and we expected it to be for adults, and not a family-friendly series. Though we only made it through 2 discs of the first season, we had been hearing about this show through bits and pieces on YouTube and through articles. And yes, we are 5 years late, I know.
The reviews of “Yellowstone” being a lush, cinematographic feast for the eyes was spot on. The acting of each character was excellent: the emotions run from calm to explosive and you see that in each character as they began to develop a relationship with the audience. The story line pulled you in within the first 2 episodes. So, for all the descriptive words of those who fell in love with “Yellowstone”, they were right. How I wish we could have continued with this beautifully presented story.
BUT……..as a Christian, specifically a Roman Catholic, we were stunned by the sex scenes, with it coming to about as close to explicit as you can without giving it an X-rating. For the life of me, I have no idea how the spouses of these actors/actresses, specifically those of Reilly and Hauser, can possibly think this is just acting; no wonder so many Hollywood marriages end in divorce. And to be honest, it was interesting at how the nudity was with the actresses, and not the actors…….where are all the righteous feminists and supporters in all this? Silent hypocrisy deeply hidden because of the power of making money.
I wish to briefly comment on the amount of swearing that fills some dialogue with enough profanity to last a lifetime. The parts that concern me is when these words are coming from the child actors. We realize that in the real world this is what happens in some families, but does that make it legitimate?
We don’t consider ourselves prudes but there is a line that cannot be crossed; as Christians, we cannot purposefully choose to allow these visuals through our eyes and into our souls.
So as I said, there was a deep appreciation/anticipation for this series, but in our opinion, it’s not worth trading our souls and Eternity. Respectfully submitted +

One star only because zero is not an option! We were so looking forward to watching this series. Imagine our disappointment when the 1st 2 discs of season 1 were defective. It got worse! More discs were either defective or incompatible. The entire season 5 discs were defective. Even on discs that worked, some episodes would freeze or wouldn’t play at all. I’ve returned the product and another is on the way from same seller. They have one chance to make it right; if even one disc is defective, I’ll write another more scathing review, naming seller and warning others to avoid them. I rarely share displeasure with orders, but if they can’t sell a decent set of DVDs, then get out of the business.

This box set includes full Seasons 1 through 4 and the first half of Season 5, when production was temporarily halted on “Yellowstone”. It does not include the episodes airing Nov 10, 2024 and afterwards. Lots of great special interviews for each season.

So I got hooked on this series after watching a couple episodes of season 1. Thinking I was getting a good deal I ordered this set. After receiving them we watched seasons 1,2, and 3 with no issues. By the end of session 4 however the disc’s started pausing every 15 or 20 seconds, almost like it was buffering. After a second or two it would begin playing again. By the start of season 5 it was pausing every 5 seconds or so, then would resume paying. This would go one about every 10 seconds. It was too the point where it was no longer watchable. These are junk, save your money and buy from somewhere else.
