Setup was a straightforward process, though I highly recommend following along with the setup video on the Alesis support site. Once assembled, the rack is a bit more wobbly than I would like, but none of the pads appear to be moving or sagging after a week’s hard playing (I’m a heavy hitter), so I’m chalking it up as something to keep an eye on, but no immediate concern.
The kit itself is very attractive. The white drum heads resemble acoustic drums, and the red trim is nice. The 10″ snare is roomy enough for me to swing at without having to aim every stroke, and the 8″ toms are large enough for me to hit without having to look at them constantly.
All of the pads have great responses; 16th note, single stroke rolls at 150bpm on each pad didn’t produce a single missed trigger, and the velocity map in my VST software showed the impacts accurately changing velocity with each change in my impact force, which means I can hear subtle differences in my strokes, just like I would on an acoustic drum.
The Alesis drum module does include a Bluetooth feature that allows you to listen to an external music source (it does NOT do audio out, however), which worked seamlessly, however, the drum samples included in the Nitro drum module are not the greatest, and I’d wager that the tom and cymbal sounds are synthesized, not recorded from acoustic instruments.
However, if you have access to a Mac or Windows computer it doesn’t really matter since Alesis includes a free copy of BFD Player and the Dark Mahogany sound pack, a great piece of Virtual Studio Technology (VST) software, which replaces the Alesis module’s sounds with studio recorded samples of real, acoustic drums.
All in all, I’ve been extremely satisfied with what the Alesis Nitro Max delivers, especially considering the price. The real bass drum pedal is a plus, as well as the open and half open triggers on the high hat pedal. I especially loved the versatility of the cymbal mounts, which can be positioned just about anywhere (if you’re a tinkerer who likes to adjust your drums every day, you’ll love this). I’m a beginner who (I think) is in the process of transitioning to an intermediate player, and at this point in my development I need a kit that accurately reproduces what I’m playing. So far, the Alesis Nitro Max has fit the bill perfectly. I would strongly recommend that anyone searching for a versatile and solid sounding kit for beginning or intermediate players take a long, hard look at this drum set.

I’ve had the kit for about a month and I love it so far! As a beginner, it’s got everything I needed to start learning. The included trial memberships for Drumeo and melodics to get started are great, its pretty easy to put together. Quality of the drum heads and cymbals looks good so far.
Some minor problems I noted:
1. Buy a separate snare drum stand. The arm for the snare on this thing is not durable enough and kept loosening and sagging on me. The frame itself could be studier but it’s really the snare arm that’s been my issue.
2. Do NOT buy the throne/headphone package, it’s garbage. I returned immediately. Buy headphones and throne separately.
If not for frame/snare arm issue, its a 5 star
Other than that, great set and happy I bought it!

Definitely a quality product from Alesis. The assembly was a bit challenging but anyways there are lots of video tutorials available online. Coming to the quality of sound and drum kits. The stock drum kits are just awesome. The quality of the mesh is decent enough and with the sound it produces when hit on it will not disturb the neighbors. The Bluetooth feature also comes in handy for practicing. The drum kit is pretty compact, we need atleast 4×3 feet space in your room . Overall a good product for the price we pay.

Bought the drum kit for my 8 y.o. as he started to take drum lessons. The buttons in the module is simple and easy to understand, a number of selection of sounds can be chosen as well. The drums has a bluetooth that you can connect on the iPad.
What’s more exciting is the free 90 day Drum lessons online and no credit card required when you register, this is perfect for those who’s starting in drum lessons. Take advantage of it!
The only downside for me is the stability of the frame, it’s a bit wobbly but only if you shake it a little. I’ve owned a Yamaha electric drum before and that one is more sturdy than Alesis. Though this is not a deal breaker for me as it doesn’t wobble while playing the drums.

I don’t write reviews too often but this drum kit literally ROCKS!
I’m retired and just an amateur to intermediate drummer and have considered buying a drum kit thru the years but between raising a family, cost, noise and lack of space I’ve never pulled the trigger on one. When I checked out the Alesis Nitro max kit it checked all the boxes. From top to bottom this is an amazing kit at a price point that won’t break the bank…….The attention to design and Engineering is quite impressive. The sound output is near perfect. I’m just using a pair of 40w powered bookshelf speakers with my iPhone Blue toothed in and it feels like I’m playing right there along with the band!
The drum module is extremely well designed and provides the ultimate in flexibility to allow you to configure the drum sounds exactly like you want them.
The canned music programs are perfect for practicing and also configurable.
Playing thru headphones is also very enjoyable.
This kit was also delivered on time and extremely well packaged.
One other thing I did a bit differently was to mount the drum module in front next to the crash symbol, instead of next to the high hat on the right. It required me to add a few cable extensions but was not a big deal….. Just personal preference.

These drums sound excellent. The pads are quality and the various rimshot sounds you can achieve depending on how you hit the snare is excellent.
The frame is not the best in terms of rigidity. I ended up having to buy a separate snare stand to take weight off the Alesis frame and stop it bowing.
Overall this is excellent value for money.
