    Summary:
The Tamron 28-75mm F/2.8 Di III lens is a versatile and high-quality option designed for Sony E-Mount cameras. With a focal length range of 28-75mm, it offers versatility for various photography genres, from landscapes to portraits. The wide maximum aperture of F/2.8 enables excellent low-light performance and beautiful background bokeh. The lens delivers sharp and detailed images thanks to its high-quality optics, while its compact and lightweight design enhances portability. However, autofocus performance may not be as fast or precise in certain situations, and some users may desire additional focal length options.

One of the standout advantages of the Tamron 28-75mm F/2.8 Di III lens is its versatile focal length range of 28-75mm. This range covers a wide variety of photography genres, allowing users to capture everything from expansive landscapes to close-up portraits with a single lens.

The wide maximum aperture of F/2.8 is a significant advantage, particularly for low-light photography. It enables the lens to gather more light, resulting in better exposure and image quality in challenging lighting conditions. Additionally, the wide aperture creates a pleasing background blur (bokeh) effect, adding a professional and artistic touch to the images.

The lens utilizes high-quality optics to deliver sharp and detailed images. It minimizes optical distortions and aberrations, ensuring excellent image quality throughout the focal length range.

Another advantage is the lens’s compact and lightweight design, which enhances portability and makes it suitable for various shooting situations. This makes it an ideal choice for photographers who value mobility without sacrificing image quality.

However, the autofocus performance of the lens may not be as fast or precise in certain situations compared to some higher-end options. While it generally performs well in most scenarios, it may struggle in challenging or fast-paced situations that require quick and accurate focusing.

Additionally, some users may desire additional focal length options, such as wider angles or longer telephoto capabilities. The 28-75mm range covers a significant focal length span, but those with specific photography needs may find the range limiting.

In summary, the Tamron 28-75mm F/2.8 Di III lens offers versatility, high-quality optics, and excellent low-light performance for Sony E-Mount cameras. Its focal length range, wide aperture, and compact design make it a versatile tool for various photography genres. While autofocus performance may have limitations in certain situations and some users may desire additional focal length options, the lens provides a high level of image quality and portability.

    TL;DR:
The Tamron 28-75mm F/2.8 Di III lens is a versatile and high-quality option for Sony E-Mount cameras. Its focal length range, wide aperture, and compact design make it suitable for various photography genres. I do not think $800 on a lens is cheap by any means but if you compare with the 24-70 g-master, this lens is a no brainer.
I have zero complaints about the 28-75 G2, I pair it with a Sony A7III.
The autofocus on the G1 seemed not to work very well with my camera, but on the G2 it works flawlessly.
Great all around/travel lens. It produces sharp pictures for a zoom, or at least sharp enough for my needs.

This lens is great, I use it on my sony a6400 and it is very good with fast focusing. Only regret I have is it not being a stabilized lens.

Let me start by saying, the Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8 has become an absolute game-charger for my photography journey. This lens has a personality of its own, and I couldn’t be happier with the results it delivers.

    Pros:
    – Versatility: cover the common focal lengths for various shooting scenarios
    – Low Light: Amazing lowlight ability even in challenging lighting conditions
    – Build quality: Plastic does not feel cheap.
    – AF: Fast and accurate, reliable for nearly all types of situations

    Cons:
    – Zoom range limitation: cannot provide not telephoto or wide angle shots
    – No Image Stabilization: lack of built-in stabilization may be a drawback for those without IBIS

    —————-

    Additional thoughts:

The 28-75mm focal length is like a swiss army knife – perfect for everything from landscape to intimate portraits. It’s become my go-to lens for everyday shooting, eliminating the need to constantly switch between different primes. It strikes a perfect balance between durability and portability, making it an ideal companion for my travels.

If you are in the market for a lens that delivers exceptional results without breaking the bank, the Tamron 28-75 should deserve a prime spot in your camera back. Highly recommended!

I find myself gravitating towards grabbing this lens and usually keeping it in my bag or on my camera for a variety of photoshoots.

I do a lot of portraiture on-location, and the zoom allows me to quickly adjust in-camera versus cropping later.

    Build quality:
Not overly heavy, has both manual zoom and a manual focus ring. Has a USB-C right on it to update the firmware directly versus through having the camera plugged in.

    Autofocus:
It struggles a little in lower-light situations, or when there are foreground elements but in these artistic shots, you want to be manually focusing anyways.

    Clarity/Sharpness:
For pixel peepers, you are going to run into some chromatic aberrations. This isn’t going to be as crisp as a prime lens, either. However, for a zoom lens it does really well.

    Weather seal:
Doesn’t seem to have much in terms of a weather seal, I found some dust on my camera sensor after leaving this lens on the body for a couple of days.

Would I recommend this lens? Yes. This is a great lens especially for when you need to pack light, or can’t bring a variety of prime lens. Being able to go from 28mm-70mm allows for a large range of different compositions you can create with a single lens. This is great for both landscapes, architecture, and portraits. For wildlife, I would probably recommend the 70-200mm lens instead.

Iโ€™m not used to write reviews, but this lens deserve it. Amazing built quality and even better image quality at 2.8 making it a very convenient lens for social, street (not very wide tho) and weddings, this lens will not disappoint specially having in mind that you are having this quality for a third or half of its sony and sigma equivalent.

Good bokeh, very sharp, great overall quality. Just go for it!

Have a Sony a7iii that used to have a 24mm lens locked on the camera most of the time. Now the 24, 35 and 85 get used a lot less. I guess I need an a7c/cii so I can use these other lens. This zoom lens is all the other reviewers say it is. I’m so glad I listened to them.
