I recently passed my FAA Part 107 exam, received my certification, and immediately started researching professional grade camera drones and kept coming back to the Autel Robotics Evo 2 Pro. I purchased this rugged bundle and received it in just three days.
The tough case is a must for protecting your valuable new investment and it is perfect for holding all of the necessities for every flight. With a total of three batteries you will have plenty of flight time to complete any daily missions. The extra propellers, launch pad, and micro SD card complete the bundle so you don’t have to mess around buying them separately later.
This thing flies like a dream! The images and videos it has produced for me are far better than any other drone I’ve flown over the past several years, hands down. The controller feels good in my hands and it holds my phone at a good angle above the controls, not below like some other brands. You can also fly it without a phone or mobile device if you want or need to because it has its own built-in display. This is a huge bonus if for any reason your mobile device is unavailable or having an issue when you need to fly.
For its size this is a quiet flyer and the controls are precise and can be adjusted to your needs by using the intuitive app. There are so many options for adjusting camera settings that I haven’t even gotten to try them all out yet. Also, it has many automatic flight modes including Orbit, Hyperlapse, and others. In addition to all of this (and there many things I didn’t even list here), it provides 12 obstacle avoidance sensors to help keep you from crashing this beautiful machine into anything! If you are new to drones or already an expert pilot you’ll feel confident while flying the Evo 2.
There is another major name brand out there (I’m sure you’ve all heard of it) that is known to prevent you from flying in many areas due to geofencing, but the Evo 2 will have none of that. With this drone, you are in control, BUT make sure you know ALL of the FAA rules and regulations before you take to the skies (if you are in the USA anyway).
The only issue I’ve had so far is in regard to charging the batteries. I have successfully charged them up to 100%, but not without having to start the process over again several times each cycle to get it to actually begin the recharge process. I have yet to explain why that is, but hopefully a new Autel 4-In-1 Charging Hub will remedy the situation.
I hope to fly this drone for years to come…both for recreation and hopefully for commercial use such as real estate photography, structure inspections, special events, etc.
(Please note: In one of the photos attached you will see the closed storage case with four odd looking squares in the corners, which are just protective shipping plastic that I had not removed yet. Also, I included a portion of a video that was filmed on a windy day from a stationary position approximately 330′ high while rotating a full 360 degrees. It was shot in 4K resolution, but down-sampled to 1080p so that I could upload it to Amazon. I am certain that the video you see here will not even come close to accurately displaying the detail compared to viewing it on a 4K TV with the micro SD card attached directly. Now that looks very nice!)

The Evo 2 Pro 6K is an amazing drone. Very high quality build with software to match. I’ve been a DJI Phantom Pilot since the first version. It’s a very good drone too but getting old in design and is hindered by Geo Fencing. Being a Part 107 Pilot, I’m very aware of where I can and cannot fly and always follow the rules. The Evo 2 Pro has better battery life, a better camera for both stills and video, 360 degree obstacle avoidance and digital zoom, all with a foldable design for easy portability. I purchased the Rugged Version and the case and extra accessories are exactly what’s needed. While slightly larger than a Mavic 2, the size of the Evo 2 is still very portable and with double the battery capacity, the flight time is class leading. The orange color is a blessing too. I live in Colorado and a white Phantom flying against white/gray clouds and landing around snow makes for difficult visibility. The orange body on the Evo 2 makes for easy viewing in the sky and fast recovery when landing. The software is easy to use and more intuitive than DJI. As a full time photographer, the Evo 2 Pro 6K is now my go to drone for professional real estate projects and landscape photos. And it flys so well, you’ll keep your flight skills sharp just having fun. Before my purchase, I called the sales and tech support number a few times. I always had a person answer who I could understand and had all my questions answered promptly without ever having to leave a message and wait for a call back or email response. This is my only drone since the Flame Wheel not made my DJI. I’m very happy with the overall experience.

Purchasing a new drone in February in Colorado is not going to give you quality flying time. I have a DJI Phantom 3 Advanced and a DJI Mini 2. Improving on those was going to lead of hours of video watching and reading forums comparing drones. After weeks of searching, I purchased an Autel Robotics Evo2 Pro. It was a new manufacturer to me, but all that I read and saw, the Evo 2 would do almost anything I could think of. I ordered the drone and from the beginning I could see it was a quality build. It is robust and the size and shape that fit my needs. Pre-flight was extensive, but easy. It’s amazing how many things this drone can do. It will be a long learning experience before I will be able to use all the features. At the age of 76, I consider myself an advanced beginner. The drone has sensors all around to prevent you from crashing into objects, plus adjustable speed ranges. Beginner speed: 7-8 mph, Standard speed 11-22 mph and ludicrous speed 34-45 mph. At the higher speeds collisions are possible as sensors are either off and can’t stop the drone at the higher speed.
Due to weather, I have only made a few flights. It does excellent at 20 degrees F and 8 mph winds and takes excellent videos and pictures. I could go on and on but I need more flight time. My friends fly DJI 4P4 and Mavic 2 Pro. I am sure the Autel Robotics Evo 2 can hold its own and do some things better. Time will tell.
