Bad quality
I went with 4K for the same price of this 1080

Operated the unit on 2 days…probably around 7- hours total viewing time on the projector.
Likes:
– Great big picture, good image quality
– Size of the projector and how easy to mount
– Very quiet…no low fan noise
Dislikes:
– Random burst/flashes of the picture turning very yellow
– Had the project all set up, running and showing a great picture…then the picture shrank by about 20% and I could not get it back to the original size. It was absolutely bizarre.
Ended upsending it back. Wish it would have worked out.

We used this projector in a dimly lit room tonight at a guild meeting. The brightness was fantastic. The committee had it set up and working in minutes. We will have to research how to make adjustments to the hue and saturation of the images, the color is off, but I’m sure there is a way. A great improvement over our old projector.

This should be a 5 star projector but here is why I give 4 star review.
The LS740HD has a glitch that causes it to randomly flash orange. This would happen several times a day. I called Viewsonic support and got through immediately with no wait.
They suggested I return the unit. They gave me the option to exchange with them or with Amazon.
I chose to return with Amazon, and I purchased a new one. The new one does the same thing but not as often. I have changed HDMI cables and power sources. All drivers are updated on PC’s connecting to projector and it still does this. I have 2 other projectors that do not do this using the same setup.
The problem is not bad enough to return the second projector.
The projector is small, quiet (on Eco or =<80% power), has good color, contrast and sharpness. Bright enough on Eco to view in moderately lit room. The projector runs very cool compared to my bulb projectors. At first, I thought that the proprietary power brick was a negative but now I view it as a positive. The brick gets as hot as the projector. By not having the power adapter built into the projector, the projector can be smaller and run cooler extending the life of the projector.
It looks like my refund will take about a month. That is a long time to have $1200 dollars tied up.

I love my projector! Color is fantastic, great picture quality and depth even in the light. HIGHLY RECOMMEND

It’s perfect for my garage. The image is great even with the doors opened

This is already mentioned in the reviews, but worth pointing out again. I was using this projector for a client to display an event schedule. And I saw the flash of orange during the event. Had to come back to reviews to find this: “The LS740HD has a glitch that causes it to randomly flash orange. “
Everything about this projector I love: brightness, contrast, size, weight, … but that orange flash is negatively impactful when you are using it for a client.

Excelente proyector, realmente me sorprendió…. Parece que estuviera viendo una pantalla de última generación, la definición en colores e imagen es más que excelente. Compraré otro más

This is sold as a conference, large room projector, that should be super bright. For the price tag, I rolled the dice and replaced my original Optoma Dlp/bulb home Theater projector and hoped for the best.
Excellent decision for me. There may be some Home Theater idealists that would challenge the color rendering, but it super, again for the price point.
Pros: Laser, Quiet, Doesn’t get hot, SUPER bright, I watched 2001: A Space Odyssey in the middle of the day… it was perfect. Lots of tweakable settings: Manual AND digital zoom, digital keystone correction, pre settings: Living Room, Cinema, Presentation, etc.
Cons: no lens shift, go to projector central and use the “Throw Distance Calculator”, it’s designed to be stationary once in place, the power cord, is a “Laptop” style, wall plug goes into power brick, power brick proprietary cable connection to projector.
The Cons would never stop me from purchasing again, I can detect no coloring problems in the renderings, I am running a 25′ hdmi cable, no jumping or dropped frames.
Excellent entry level home theater projector.
