Very fast, free shipping over Christmas. Placed the order Friday before Christmas and came expedited delivery on the Wednesday. Only had this a couple of days, the picture and sound are good, everything working as expected although I found it a little difficult to get it to connect to my soundbar. Took several attempts. Eventually I got it working, but the instructions could do with a bit more detail. No complaints, enjoying all my movies and easy to connect to Netflix.

Really impress with the interface. I put my movies in folders so I needed to see more then 10 letters of a title. The BD player is fine but it strangely hard to setup the aspect ratio so that it doesn’t always scale full screen. USB works fine. One problem are the DIVX avi. It reads everything H264 and mp4, including .avi coded with H264. But divx is a problem. The unit is long, more then large. Really love it. You also have an option to fine tune the picture, but it’s a question of taste. By default is pretty fine. The 3D works well to date. My TV is 2K, so I don’t know for 4K.

Background: I finally bought a Blu-Ray player to fully enjoy HD and 3D movies on my one year old tv. Before this purchase, I had been relying on Netflix “HD” content and renting HD and 3D movies via Verizon Fios on-demand.

Picture/performance:
Let me say that this is the way HD movies should be experienced. The quality of the picture is considerably better when the content is coming from a blu-ray player. The HD from a blu-ray far outperforms HD via Fios on-demand or Netflix. (And Netflix HD far underperforms Fios HD of course). If I had to recommend a disc to play to see a good example of the amazing picture quality, I’d suggest Prometheus. The scenery and cinematography are very cool.

3D:
Looks great, no complaints so far – I watch 3D content very rarely, though. I got this tv primarily because of the 2D picture quality. The 3D feature is just a bonus.

Style:
The player is significantly smaller than my old Panasonic 5-disc dvd player (as expected), so its black shell and relatively small size looks much better sitting near my black Panny tv.
WATCH OUT FOR:
the front panel. It has hinges on the bottom to swing open and closed when the disc tray opens and closes. I have a refurbished unit that has broken hinges. The front panel is kind of hanging off a bit but does not obstruct the usage of the disc tray. I would imagine that this problem could be easily reproduced if the unit is handled or packed improperly when physically moved. Extra care should be taken with the front panel of this device.

On-screen experience (menus, etc.):
It seems that some discs (Premium Rush is one example) play automatically if they’re in the player when it is powered on. And others do not – I get a small menu when powering on the device asking if I want to play the disc or go to the home screen. This might be related to whether a dvd or a blu-ray disc is in the player. Regardless, I wish the player would just go to the home screen on startup every time considering that at least half of my viewing time is on Netflix.
The home screen is a little choppy for my tastes. There are multiple screens when considering real estate, the menu could have easily been presented in its entirety on one page.
There is an Internet button on the remote to take you right to the apps screen (essentially the same as the Viera Connect button on my tv’s remote), and a Netflix button to open the Netflix app in a snap. The Internet and Netflix buttons cannot be pressed from the little play/home screen menu that I mentioned in the first paragraph of this section. This is why that intermediate step is annoying. I should be able to power up the player and click the Internet or Netflix buttons at any time, without navigating to the home screen first.

Netflix app:
The app design on this player is much better than the Netflix app on my tv. There is a search feature, and in general everything about the interface is better. Even the fast-forward/rewind is more capable. The HD is ok, but not great. This isn’t the player’s fault, though.

Remote:
Like I said before, the Internet and Netflix buttons are great. There is a small section for tv controls with volume, av/input, and a power button. This has made the remote extremely useful and convenient.
The only thing I’d change about the remote is to make the up arrow and Internet buttons more distinguishable. More than a few times I’ve been in the middle of browsing Netflix when I accidentally hit the Internet button and had to start all over. This definitely gets annoying, and I never seemed to have this problem with my tv remote (or any cable provider’s remote, for that matter).

Networking:
The network features boot MUCH faster than the network features on my tv. This is one of my only complaints about my tv. It’s so annoying to use the Viera Connect features due to this problem. I don’t use my tv’s network connection anymore. This player does it better.
I have not noticed any change in performance between using the wifi adapter and an ethernet cable.
tl;dr: If you need a Blu-ray player, don’t hesitate to buy this one. It gives you great performance and features for the price.
BITTRON2 –
Before I purchased this Panasonic DMP-BDT220 WiFi Blu-Ray DVD Player, I had researched virtually every player available on the market. There’s a lot to pick from, but I wanted to find the player that had the best all-around features, and a great price that would fit my budget. And after looking at a dozen or so different players, I concluded that this Panasonic player was the best pick in its price range. Other players, have various other options, a varied amount of output connections, and may specify on-board memory configurations, etc. While this player does not specify the memory amount, it appears to be sufficient enough to load streaming media (such as Netflix, Amazon Video or Hulu Plus and play it back without any hesitation or pauses.
After receiving the player, I hooked it up, and it worked perfectly right from the start. Found my WiFi network without any problems. I entered the security password information and it was connected to my WiFi network and my Internet connection in seconds. Even configured itself with connecting to my other devices and PCs on my network also without any problems. I did not have to enter any network address configurations or anything except for the router/network access password. I was able to instantly see the pictures and videos on my shared PCs on my home network.
I use this for my Netflix streaming and it works great with no problems at all. And there is no lag time between the apps selection under the Internet portion of the player, but that might be because I’m using this on a fairly high-speed 10/2 broadband connection.
I’ve also used several of the other Internet apps on the player, and they all worked great as well.
The Pros of this player is that it worked perfectly right out of the box, and it was a snap to setup, connect to the Internet through my WiFi network, and very easy to tell it to automatically download and update the firmware. This can also be done by downloading the firmware file from a computer and putting it on a CD-ROM or a flash drive, and then inserting that into the player, and the player will then see it, and automatically update the firmware.
The only Cons of this player, if one at all, would be that it lacks a second HDMI or Component HD connection on the back of the player, but for me, that wasn’t a problem, as I connected this player, using the HDMI connection, directly to my HDTV. It does offer also an optical digital audio out connection, which I have connected to my Sony 7.1 Home Theater System, and it works perfectly. Blu-Ray movies look and sound GREAT!!
ALL IN ALL, I think this is a terrific WiFi Player from Panasonic and I think anyone would be very satisfied with this player. I know I am. And doing a lot of research before I purchased this did help in picking a very good player. I think it’s the best WiFi Blu-Ray player in its price category.
One last suggestion though, is to purchase a color calibration DVD, which is available on Amazon, to calibrate or re-calibrate your TV using the Blu-ray Player. This will assure you that your television is set correctly, for not only color, but also for hue, brightness and contrast as well.

Took a chance on a refurbished unit and very glad I did. Home Wi-Fi network login and firmware update worked fine. Only one output, HDMI, but was able to take sound from TV stereo outputs. Unit is more compact then expected, which made it easier to place than expected. Playback of movie DVDs and audio CDs and works fine, TV picture better than old player’s.
