So far so good. BR player performs as advertised!

Look it up anywhere pros discuss players, and you’ll find the consensus is unanimous: nothing else available today comes even close. Mine is region-free, and it truly is, but that’s just icing on the cake. Go on line and look up recommended settings for optimal performance. There’s tons of options and some are critical. The manual doesn’t explain them very well, and not all the default settings are what you should go with.

It’s now May. I ordered this machine from 220 Electronics through Amazon back in January, It didn’t get serious use until recently when I noticed that it failed to track DVD’s and CD’s that my other machines, ranging from a top-of-the-line Oppo down to a Pioneer eternal blu-ray drive for my computer, tracked flawlessly.
220 Electronics has been terrific to deal with. Even though they could not duplicate my tracking problems with the disc I sent them (as it turns out, neither could I), they sent me a replacement. Same exact problem.
While trying to resolve the problem, I purchased the non-multi regional version of this model from another dealer — this time with a four year warranty, just in case. Well, it turns out that this unit has exactly the same tracking problems.
So now I’ve sampled three different units of this model. ALL of them failed to track discs — DVD’s and CD’s — that my other machines tracked with no problem. I think I can say with some authority that this unit tracks far worse not only than more expensive, high-end models, but also a $250 Sony UBP-X700/M as well as a $140 (at the time I bought it) Pioneer Electronics USA Slim External Blu-Ray Writer (BDR-XU03)
I’ve returned the unit to the other dealer and expect to trade in the second unit that 220 Electronics for something a bit more reliable. So far, they have been great to deal with. They have gone above and beyond. I’ll post the final resolution of all this when I’ve closed the deal with 220 Electronics, but I wanted to post this thorn among the rosy reviews posted as a caveat as soon as possible.
An expensive disappointment.

I had a Sony UBP X800 that would jam and freeze up operation. Every time I watched a movie I would become anxious as to whether or not I’d be able to finish watching. I finally decided to try this Panasonic player. I have never owned a Panasonic before (always thinking it was an inferior brand…boy was I wrong). I have owned this player for a couple of weeks now and have not had any issues; not one single freeze up whatsoever. The build quality is excellent; almost as good as the Oppo players I own (I have at least 5). Word of warning, the player does get a little warm after a couple of hours of play. The region free part works well and is easy to do (I could never figure out the feature on the Sony). The seller (220 electronics) put a piece of paper inside the box explaining how to manipulate the switch between regions which has worked flawlessly so far (many thanks to them). In my opinion this player is well worth the triple price of the Sony.
THE GREATEST BOSS –
Excellent picture quality coupled with my new 8K tv, upscales standard Blu-ray really well and sound through my Sonos Arc, sub and rear Play1 speakers is magnificent. Of course it’s difficult to tell the contribution of the individual components to the overall experience but it does appear to be a clear improvement on the previous setup. Lack of smart features isn’t a problem as my tv has them all built in, but it could be a problem when used with non-smart TVs.

A wonderful high end Blu ray Player to go with my High end system and setup. Build quality is 1st class, you’ll realize this the moment you touch it and notice the Weight. Picture is out of this world and sound is as impressive given you have a high end A/V receiver and Speakers like mine. My system is 7.1.4 and it’s wonderful experience. Excellent Seller, 100% positive ratings and I wouldn’t want to change this. However the shipping took longer than expected “almost 10 days”
I highly recommend this Blu ray if you can afford it.

Works great with my Marantz 8K receiver and LG OLED C1.

Magnifique lecteur blu-ray multi régions. Enfin, je vais pouvoir visionner mes dvd importés. Excellent service de la part du vendeur.

What a fantastic unit , I really can’t fault it well made and image quality is second to none, worth every penny 👍👍👍👍👍

Yes it’s pricey, but you get what you pay for.
This unit does not have all of the Energy Star go to sleep after being paused for 5 min so you can poop.
Picture quality is so good I had to buy a new tv to get the most out of this unit.
It’s heavy. It’s big. It is built to last.

It’s quite a machine. Both video and audio have been outstanding after 30 hours or so of use.
This player was a step into the dark for me, but the results have justified the gamble, and my wife concurs. Up conversion on our collection of British movie DVDs is excellent, particularly the audio. Comprehension of some of the thicker dialects, which vaguely resemble spoken English, can be a challenge at times. And, of course, 4K/Ultra HD is spectacular. Our previous player and TV, nominally 4K, weren’t in the same league.
Setup couldn’t have been simpler, with the caveat that time spent in researching the myriad ways this thing can configured is well spent. There’s a wealth of information available online, very helpful for amateurs like me.

Great player and very well built. Picture quality is hard to discern from it’s cheaper brother, the UB820, but sound quality is a definite step up, particularly through its analogue output. The remote control is also superior to the lower priced model, though it’s compatible with the 820 and reasonably priced, so is a worthwhile upgrade if you wanted to pick it up.
For most people, the UB820 is going to be a better proposition, but for those that don’t mind paying extra for better build and slightly better performance, plus a few features you will likely not use, then this player won’t disappoint.

I bought this so I could play any Dvd or Blu Ray worldwide and all the ones I have play perfect. 4Ks are made to play on any 4K player so there good too. It was super pricey at $1399 but so far so good. My favorite feature is the subtitle, this player lets you move then up or down and dim or brighten then, way cool.
