The parcel came in good condition, glad that it did.
Took me a while to set up, as I forgot it uses a 2 pin power plug, so I have to get a adapter to fit it.
Plays the Blu Ray Disk really well, the visual is a lot more contrasting with the right settings and with crisp audio.
It’s basically a blu ray player for region A blu ray and region 1 DVD for those who are curious.
Overall its a good purchase, I mainly needed it to play blu ray disks, and I have been using it to play media stored on my external hard drive as well.

We had old DVD and the player we had did not have HDMI… time to upgrade to Blu-ray. Upscaling is a huge thing because our concert DVDs are old. Paired this with a new Sony amp and enjoying my DVDs again after years not being played.
This system is great for playing but the DNLR function for music lacks everything. Will play a single song or an album but 52 hours of music at random from my NAS storage, forgeddaboudit!
Apps to install on it is non-existent. The ones that come with are useless (except Pandora).

Received one and it keep freezing movies. Return it for one that does exactly the same. The device is very sensitive to any marks on discs. Very annoying.

I don’t have one bad thing to say about this product. It works seamlessly with my TV. The picture is great, and I and psyched that I now own my very first 4K DVD player. The only bad side is that I have to upgrade my entire selection.
Ok, if there was only little gripe, and this if a frequent criticism of many products, the remote is mapped out like Gene from Marketing designed it. Look, not everyone has or wants Netflix!

This was to replace an older Samsung. We are totally pleased with this newer player. The only downside is that a couple of DVDs that I had recorded from the internet no longer will play. I think it might be due to copyright problems. Who knew? The older machine played anything.

EDIT: I have had problems with this player from day one. The new cables help the audio a great deal but almost every disc freezes up when playing. I contacted this seller, but it is past the 30-day return window. So, I am trying to contact Sony for warranty work. Once it’s fixed, I will sell it. I’ve already ordered another unit, different brand.
As of a week ago, we now own four UHD 4k discs given to us this Christmas. But we only had a 1080p Blu-Ray player. So, we had to upgrade to view the new movies. I ordered this one the day after Christmas here on Amazon. It arrived only a couple of days later. We can watch our new 4k discs and all others before this (DVD & Blu-Ray) as it is backwards compatible.
Why did I almost return it? When setting it up, I thought I’d save time and complication by using the HDMI cable I had with the Blu-Ray. Just unplug from old player and plug into new player. RIght? Easy. Fast.
However, the first disk we were watching would freeze up. Intolerable. Dang it. So, I initiated a return. But before I brought it to the UPS store to return it, I did simple research about what causes discs or data stream from the disc to freeze up in the first place. Turns out, a cable not able to support the larger bandwidth can do that. Huh. So, I looked at the cable that was supplied with the player and it was rated 18Gps, 4K which is what’s recommended for a UHD 4k player. I swapped the old cable with the new supplied one, rewatched the first disc, then watched the remaining three. Not a single freeze up. I’m sold. Not an issue with the player, just an underrated HDMI cable.
So, to the reviewers giving this player a bad wrap over freezing up I ask you, “Did you use the supplied 18 Gps 4k HDMI cable that is supplied with the player?
The audio will blank out a couple of times for a couple of seconds with each disc, but I’ve read that it can happen when the disk changes layers during the movie. I have ordered a new cable rated for the same 18 Gps 4k for the ARC (Audio Return Channel) from my TV to the HT receiver. I am hoping that’ll take care of the quick little audio gaps. If it doesn’t, eh…no big deal.
So, we (my wife included) love this new player.

This is a very good, light weight player. Small footprint, gets the job done. Plays old format DVD as well as the latest Blu-Ray. Great quality video translation, have not experienced any issues. Ensure your configurations are correct if you experience problems. Sound quality is excellent. The apps featured are nice bonuses. Let’s be honest, most people are not streaming from their Blu-Ray player given all the other technology options available today. Wireless and Wired internet works well. No issues.

Bought this to use for my 4K TV, delivers a stunning picture and sound.
By using a older receiver for sound separately, the secondary HDMI output from the player was good addition.
The remote control is OK, but not perfect.
Could do without the build in app like YOUTUBE, useless to me.

The delivery was exactly & precisely as promised with quick response follow-up validation. The product performance of the Sony UBP-X700 blu-ray/DVD player has been exceptional. Please be sure it’s plugged into a surge protector, circuit spikes can easily destroy. This is my second UBP-X700 & I am following my advice. Resolution from all high-res formats is pristine, audio output distinct, color accuracy precise, wireless connectivity in addition to knowing your router ID & password, piece of cake (easy).

I am no expert on players, however I recommend this player to everyone I know. Its playback is sparkling with colors crisp and clear. This is my first BluRay player so it was enlightening compared to DVDs (I will however admit that my visual acuity sees no difference between 4K BluRay discs and regular BluRay discs). I have seen a lot of 1 star issues reporting freezing of playback. I have experienced this. However, my experience has always been to pull out the disc, properly clean it – wiping center to edge with a clean non-static, lint free cloth – has always corrected the issue. Thus, I am more inclined to blame the disc manufacturers than to fault the Sony player for being able to read a dirty or flawed disc. These are very precise appliances and cannot be expected to correct for problems in the manufacture and packaging of the discs. I will note that more recent disc releases seem (from my limited experience) to have a better record on production quality and fewer freezing issues. My one major regret is not springing for a more expensive (approximately twice he price) player that can play other format standards. One of my favorite movies (that I bought in a horrible DVD printing) is available only in PAL, not NTSC. My two pennies.
