Took a while to arrive as the seller sent it 3000 km west. Initially the set up instructions seemed easy but after 4-5 attempts at trying to lock onto the Canadian Bell Satellite I ended up calling King. Within 30 minutes they returned my call & with the technicians assistance I was up & running within minutes. Great tech support. The unit is great as you can leave in on your Rv’s roof with the quick connect mount or move it to a picnic table to get a better line of site. The instructions probably could be better written as there are multiple “flashing light codes” that distinguish between the different satellites. All in all I think this will work.

AWESOME!! I was so tired of setting up my tripod dish and then putting everything away while camping. So I decided to get the King Quest to make my set ups a breeze. With this dish I receive all of my programming including my local channels. Set up is a breeze now. Just put the Portable dish outside with a view to the satellites, turn everything on and BAM! you will have TV within a few minutes. Granted I have lost HD programming, but while in my RV I can live with it. It is not the manufactures of these dishes fault for the loss of HD, but it it the way DirecTV delivers their signal. If you must have HD with DirectTV you must purchase a Winegard Traveler which will cost more then a grand more then this dish and it will have to be permanently mounted on the roof of your RV. There are a lot of trees were I camp, and being limited to a permanently mounted dish was something I was not willing to do. You can use this model with dish network, but you will need to by the King UC1000 universal controller for less then a hundred dollars.

I would like to explain something about local channels to help you understand why some people are getting them and some people are not. If you get on your google machine and search the internet, you will find listing of the local channels that are on the 101 satellite and the locals that are on the 119 Satellite. It appears that most of the larger markets are one the 101 while smaller markets are on 119. So it would be very important for you to check ahead of time to see what satellite your locals are on. If you locals are on the 101 satellite, there is nothing you have to buy, if they are on the 119, you will need to buy the King UC1000 universal controller to get your locals. The UC1000 allows the dish to use both the 101 and 119 satellites. I hope this helps you understand the local programming and maybe you will not have to spend the hours of research I did before I bought the King Quest.
In addition to the locals of larger markets, the 101 satellite provides channels 100 thru 400 and 500 thru 800. This includes the premium movie channels such as HBO and Showtime. The 119 has the locals from smaller markets and channels in the 400’s and some others. So if your like me, you will have no need for any of the channels in the 400’s. So basically since my locals are on the 101 satellite, I have absolutely no need to have the ability to get the 119 satellite.

If you want to change you provider to Dish Network, you will need to get the UC1000. However, if you do go with Dish, you will also get all of their HD programming!

One of the main reason I chose the the King Quest is I now have the flexibility to change from DirecTV to the Dish Network if I ever choose to change my satellite providers.

I couldn’t be more pleased with my purchase!

IF ONLY I COULD SENT IT BACK FOR FULL REFUND!! Purchased in February to be ready for summer.
Satellite is not Canadian Bell friendly!! Several attempts to get it working. No such luck! On hold for hour with King Pro only to be told them do not provide support to Canadian customers. If anyone has helpful hints please pass along. My advise – Do not purchase from Amazon go directly to local supplier for better service.

I bought this to replace the dish that I had to struggle to set up each time when I took out the RV. Thought it would be so much easier. Received it and tested it. The test was a quick on and seemed to work ok. Since it was for the RV it sat there until our next trip. Sadly this trip is 2 days past the return window for Amazon and it doesn’t work. It finds satellites, just usually not the right one. When it does find 101 it doesnt communicate with my D12 reciever. The strenght of the signal never gets above 74%. The reciever keeps searching for a satellite signal but doesn’t ever find it. It worked somewhat one night, but would only get about 1/4 of the channels I should get.
I tried customer service. All I could ever get was a recording that said they were getting a lot of calls (I bet so if this is how their equpment is) and it would be anywhere from 24 to 72 hours for a return call. Still waiting. I am so disappointed with this. I have wasted a lot of money I could have well used elsewhere. I am going back to my old metal dish and hope that some day I will be able to get some trouble shooting help and figure out what to do with this. It is not heavy enough to make a good anchor and it is a poor yard ornament. I would not waste your money on this. If things change I will update this review, but don’t hold your breath the way things are going.

It came well packed in factory packaging. The unit was lighter than I expected and it should be handled and packed carefully, that said, I just followed the quick start instructions, set it on the ground with a clear view of the southern sky and in about 8 minutes it had a good signal.

You do have to have the correct Direct TV receiver. If in doubt, give them a call. That’s what I did and I found them very helpful. Also you can not get HD TV with this dish.

Since it is designed to sit on just about anything and can be permanently mounted on the roof of your RV I know it is weather proof, but if you set it on the ground I don’t think it would survive rising water. (more than 3 inches.) For that reason I wish they offered a short tripod as an option.

Overall a good experience if your tired of manually aiming a manual dish.

    Update: 11/02/2015.
    Still working well. No problems.

I was running a SWM dish on Direct tv. I wanted to upgrade to a SWM dish for the top of the RV. This option was 1600 dollars that I did not want to spend. After a lot of research i ordered this. I was a little worried about the conversion from the SWM, but I just eliminated the SWM power supply and followed the Direct TV dish setup screen and I was good to go. I mounted this on top of my motorhome. Get to your new location and push the button and start your receiver…viola TV and did not have to even go outside other than to plug in the RV to electricity. I am really impressed and for 400-500 dollar range it works great. I save a thousand bucks, but no HD programming… oh well that’s part of roughing it. This is the one to get if you want an easy conversion.

Great product. The instructions for setup leave out a key programming instruction. (Set receiver to single tuner)
Took 2 days to talk with tech support. 5 minutes to fix issue.
