My best friend had bought a similar product to this and it did not work with her computer only put out audio. I double checked with Apples website and this was what she needed to hook up her Iphone4 to her television and get both audio and video. She is totally happy it is clear and works well. I got this priced better then the actual Apple website.

If you want to connect your iPod to your stereo (or anything else with analog audio) BUY THIS CABLE. Even if you have to buy a lightning adapter, to connect to your newer iDevice (which I did). It makes solid connections, and still provides for charging. The “other brand” has always had sketchy connections – popping and buzzing – and finally quit working on one channel. THIS one is solid. (This is the second one I bought. Have had the first one for a long time. I use them on several different vintage stereos, in different locations.)
Disclaimer… have not used for video. But I would be confident…

Bonjour, j’ai acheté ce cable en souhaitant qu’il fonctionne correctement et je ne me suis pas trompée. Il est parfait. Je possède un “ipad écran retina wifi/3G” et c’est top. Le cablage est simple. Je le laisse en place sur “ma TV HDtnt”.
Je peux donc visonner mes videos et photos contenues sur l’ipad, ainsi que des films en streaming(ça c’est top…).
Cependant êtant client orange , j’ai la TV d’orange sur l’ipad , mais n’ayant pas de parabole je ne l’ai pas sur ma tv. Je pensais donc que celà fonctionnerait aussi, mais nannnnn. Le seul repproche à faire , on ne peux brancher l’ipad sur secteur en même temps, donc veillez à ce qu’il soit chargé à bloc.
Je recommande toutefois cette article.

My iPhone video cable works perfectly and I have yet to see the error message that other reviews have described. The screen resolution for most applications such as Netflix, apps from network TV stations, etc, appear on screen in better, much clearer resolution than what can be seen on my iPhone when viewing without using the cable or a TV screen. I have not had a chance to see if any presentation apps like the iPhone version of a PowerPoint viewer would work with this cable yet, but would be interested to hear from anybody who has tried this to see if it works.
The only complaints I have are that when using the cable to charge my phone from a USB port on my TV, the sound of the phone is dissabled so it does not ring for incoming calls or alarm clock settings. Any time this cable is plugged in, there is no sound from the phone other than from the video on screen, so no alerts, calls, text notification sounds and so forth. Also, many application developers still do not use the video-out features that the iPhone is capable of, such as my cable provider (“Time Warner Cable” has an app for watching a number of available cable channels while within home wi-fi range, but it does not allow external monitor viewing as needed for use with this cable).
For those who mainly use or want something like this for using Netflix, Youtube and purchased or downloaded videos saved on your iPhone, it works very well and is a 5-star product.

If your home stereo doesn’t have a USB port on the front panel, this cable is an easy and inexpensive solution for connecting an iPod. I used the red and the white RCA connectors of the cable and hooked them to AUX – in ports on the stereo and it sounds great.

I am experiencing same problem as many others… audio only – no video when connected to the TV. I’m running iPad 1 wi-fi only with iOS 5.1.1 and tried Netflix, YouTube and Videos (using movies I rented from iTunes) and on multiple televisions throughout my house (old 4:3 CRT TVs and a 16:9 flat screen HDTV) and all the same result — no video.
I spent lots of time Googling and it appears that there are many others having this same problem. One board poster suggested o to settings/videos//tv signal and select output either NTSC or PAL (try both to see which works). Unfortunately I don’t have this option in settings/videos 🙁 but msybe that will help someone else here.
I couldn’t find any official word from Apple either (BTW I was shipped a real Apple product as opposed to some of the other reviewers here that received some knock-off product) so sadly I’m returning this product today. I may have to go to Apple store with my iPad to get the straight story. If I find any news, I’ll post an update here.

Based on my experience with a 3GS
First things first. The product works with ease. Connect to the phone, connect to the TV. Apps auto recognize that you are connected to the tv and off you go. No complaints here.
Now, what I didn’t realize (and this is my fault for not researching further) but for basically anything pre-iphone 4, the TV video out is only supported for 1st party apps. So, Ipod, Youtube, and videos taken from your phone will play nicely. Others, such as Netflix (which was my main interest) DO NOT SUPPORT TV-video out. Apparently this functionality is only available with the newer model iphones and touches.
So, if you don’t have the latest and greatest please be advised. Otherwise, the cable itself works great.

I purchased this cable to be used with my Ipod and my home stereo/ speaker system. The audio cables work but you need to purchase a separate power outlet to plug into the USB otherwise your Ipod does not charge. The product would be more complete with an outlet as well as a simple stand so that you could see your music choices etc. As of now, my ipod lays flat next to the stereo system (facing upside-down b/c the plug is at the bottom). The only other issue we had is that when we disconnected it, we lost all the music and had to reboot the entire ipod. Im not sure if the cable did this but we have plugged the ipod into various other sources and never had this issue before.

Once i got this product, i couldn’t wait to plug it in and play something up on the big screen. It took a while to put the chords in (only because my tv is mounted on the wall and i couldn’t see where they were to fit.) I finally did and it did not play on my TV! i was very dissapointed but i didn’t give up. i went on amazon and looked at the reviews for this product and as i kept reading they all said it worked great with netflix, youtube, and videos. so i went and played a random youtube video and it worked! i realized the app i was on was not supported by this product.(i also saw a review witch said to go to settings- general- TV out- widescreen on) i am not sure if that helped but it works now and i am very happy with this product, though i wish it played my app that played shows. the app i used was ABC family,so that doesn’t work. I will not return this product, i am very pleased, but also note that mine came in a plastic bag (not an apple box) and it has video chords(red green and blue) and audio chords (red and white). But overall, good price for this product! it is still from apple though it didn’t come in the box!
