The quality of image produced from this cable doesn’t look like S-Video quality. It looks almost exactly like Composite video. Looking at the pinout of the Xbox 360 AV connector, it doesn’t seem that the XBox 360 could even support S-Video properly.

HEY AMAZON!! This is a freakin’ piece of hardware, not a game. Buy a clue man.
Anyway, it was a little difficult to figure out if there really was an S-video cable for the x-Box 360. The Microsoft site tells you how to install one, but they don’t offer one for sale, that I could find anyway.
That being said, this cable works just fine. All of my audio/video stuff goes through my AV tuner/amp. In order to use only one television input, and control everything remotely, all output from the tuner must be s-video. This works. It satisfies the need, and is slightly better video than the composite feed into a secondary TV input that I had been using before.
I was happy with the price. I wish Game Stop had offered the cable when I bought the x-box unit, but that’s neither here nor there.
Decent product, decent price.
This is a buy recommendation if what you need is s-video output from the x-box.

I just wrote that tag line to make you read the review. I really have nothing better to say. I don’t even know if this cable worked. I bought it for my kids. They stay in the basement all day playing video games. So, since they didn’t come up and complain, I guess it worked. If that’s the case, I say buy some if you never want to see your kids. But I like my kids and I’d like to see them so maybe I should return them.

I went on a long trip to visit family and brought my Xbox with me. I’m used to playing it on my HDTV and have become accustomed to the picture quality. The TV I was using there had a large screen but it was a standard definition television. This cable with the S Video connector produces a remarkable, near HD quality picture!

Anyway, as for this cable, I Was very pleased with it! It came all sealed up and with instructions and everything you need and more for it. It works just as it is suppose to and give great quality for standard definition.

Like many of you folks, I’ve used a million or so cables over the years: Monster Cables, freebies, various other premium cables–digital signals, analog, etc… I’ve never used a bad s-video cable, until I tried the Xbox 360 S-Video AV Cable for my 360 (my TV’s component in is wonky). Dot crawl, moire, and just plain fuzzy. I’m not sure it was the cable or the connector that plugs in the back of the 360, but it was awful.
Knowing that there had to be a better solution, I paid the extra dough and bought this Microsoft cable. It does everything you’d expect, and in a pinch it works as a composite cable. No more moire or dot crawl, and the picture quality rivals component for SD TVs. Is it lame to have to pay $25-30 for a decent s-video cable–yes, but paying $15-20 for a horrible one is even worse.

I was surprised the price was so low! Genuine product with what is noticeable high quality materials. I had the other version of this AV cable with just the 3 RCA plugs on a old-school 55″ RCA projection TV. Playing games like NCAA Football there was really bad flickering on the yard lines when there was camera movement and videos would just look kinda off. I knew that S-Video delivers a slightly better picture but I was pleasantly surprised how much that little difference made. There was know more flickering, colors were richer and the contrast was much better. (RCA would always look washed out). Definitely worth the money to get if your tv’s best input is S-video and you are using RCA.

Synopsis – S-Video interface is much better than the yellow composite RCA input that comes with the component cables. If you have a standard definitions (old tube) TV and you are not going to upgrade to an HDTV for awhile, this is well worth it to have a sharper and clearer picture. Can tell a difference with the S-Video input.
Was dissatisfied with how the yellow video RCA input looked on my SDTV. Wasn’t planning on updating to an HDTV for awhile and saw a review about how the S-Video cables made the picture look sharper. Purchased this cable on amazon and when it came I tested the video input between the S-Video and yellow composite. I could tell a big difference. Had my wife confirm what I saw to see if she could tell a difference and she could. She works as a video editor and can tell the difference in video inputs. Great purchase, just wish Microsoft had included it with the Xbox 360 out of the box.
