Wanted to upgrade my 2012 iMac to give it a boost and hopefully get it to last a few more years.
Saw this memory module and at a good price.
Unfortunately I didn’t check my computer spec closely enough, as the memory did not work when I received it (totally my fault for not checking). I later learnt that memory modules built after a certain date don’t work with the earlier iMacs.
Luckily – I have a Macbook Pro (newer than the iMac but takes similar memory modules – including the newer ones) – and thankfully the memory modules in laptop were older memory modules – so I put those in the iMac and the newer modules in the laptop. I was very lucky – but be warned if you’re thinking of upgrading your computer.
Overall the memory modules are great – not let me down and the computers are working just fine.

I literally just received this item and immediately installed it in my laptop. The performance has improved greatly on my old laptop. I have a Toshiba Satellite L755D-S5227. After install it ran smoothly and had no issues whatsoever. Before purchasing I double checked with Toshiba and Kingston to make sure I was buying the correct memory module for my laptop. I highly recommend to do some research before buying any upgrades. The price was great compared to other sites, and it performs as described. I’m very happy with the purchase and would definitely buy again if needed.

I have been using the RAM for 6 months now and it works absolutely fine. It did instantly speed up my system. Also, I have had no trouble with it. Some of my friends had a bad experience from other 4 gig RAM. But this Kingston product is a keeper.
I would recommend it to anyone looking for “solid” RAM. I even found that the price was better than the in-store prices at BB and some other places.

Since I saw only 2 (mostly negative) reviews about this RAM, I thought I should set the record straight: this is a standard RAM module from one of the largest memory suppliers. There’s nothing wrong with it, and it should work fine as long as your computer motherboard supports it. It is working fine on my Thinkpad T420 / Intel i5-2520M CPU @ 2.50 GHz which is now 2 years old, so I guess any of the recent laptops should support it. I just followed the simple instructions that came with it. You can also search for instruction videos on Youtube. After installation, the laptop booted up just fine, and when I checked my installed memory by typing in “memory” in the Windows 7 start bar and selecting “Show how much RAM is on this computer” it showed the updated RAM (8 GB in my case). A quick rerun of the Windows Experience Index also updated the sub-score for Memory to 7.1.
The only additional tip I can share is that if you’re planning to buy this on Amazon, stick to Amazon as the seller (ships from and sold by Amazon).

This ram module was used to upgrade my old Synology DS412+ NAS to 4 GB which was starting to show its age. There are youtube help videos showing how to replace the ram in the NAS. Installation was quite easy. My biggest problem was sliding the housing off the NAS due to the cover tabs not releasing from the metal frame. Expect to do some cleaning while you have the NAS apart especially if you are like me and have been running it 24/7. Afterwards, the NAS fired up without any issues and I don’t have any of the CPU high usage problems that some have had after ram upgrades in the past. The NAS appears to have a snappier response but I don’t have any benchmarks to prove how much. For the low upgrade cost, I’m happy with the result.

I was using two modules with the exact same specs not having issues on my laptop but I haven’t managed to use these two, lot of errors on readings. Despite using the memory I mentioned, the motherboard wasn’t supposed to accept the module, so I will blame myself for now and I will get back here if I resell it and the person buying it complains.
Good service overall, quick delivery.

I bought these memory modules to upgrade some of the older laptops (Lenovo ThinkPad 420) at work to 8GB. Shipping was fast, Installation was easy, and they work great! Kingston is a brand well known for the reliability and performance of their computer chips. I’ve never had any issues with Kingstom RAM, and as such, I expect these to work as expected for years. However, I will update this post and review score should any of the RAM chips fail unexpectedly. Overall and as of now, I am satisfied with my purchase. It’s a great way to upgrade the memory of an older laptop!

Bought this for my laptop and even though the this Kingston memory match my laptop memory specs, they were not compatible.
After installing the memory, it kept rebooting my laptop before it had the chance to start the boot process. The BIOS recognized all 8GB RAM.
Did a memory test and it was taking a really long time. I ran it for about 5 hours and it was still at 1% progress. I tested one memory stick at a time.
I booted with one memory stick at a time and it would boot up, however performance was very poor. Had to force shut down my laptop. Went with crucial same specs as this Kingston and works and performs well. I might of received a bad pair from Kingston, but then again I’ve read reviews here with same results. I didn’t want to bet on another pair of Kingston, so again i went with Crucial.

DO NOT USE IN A DELL E6410. While Kingston is a fine company, and I am sure this memory is fine for many machines, I could not get the 2 4GB models to work in my Dell E6410 Laptop. Amazon even swapped out for 2 more modules (thinking I might have a bad module) and yet they still did not work (either 1). blinking keyboard lights or 2). Windows Reporting a Memory error on boot, or 3). constant rebooting after 15 seconds of running Memory Diagnostic Tests Either test86+ or motherboard memory tests).
Amazon was great helping me out, BUT be careful, IN GENERAL Amazon has this item marked as no Return/Refund, (which I understand given that memory is fragile and must be handled correctly). They did help me out with no hassles, which is why I am Prime and buy 90% of my stuff from Amazon including books, music, ebooks, etc. So, they proved their value once again.
I ended up spending just under twice the price buying the OEM Memory (VisionTek) directly from DELL. While drastic, the memory did work 1st try, and I’ll just justify the extra $40 as a loss. The laptop is running great with the new memory and I did not wish to keep wasting time messing with it.
I will try Kingston in the future with other computers, but when it comes to the E6410, there is something out of spec on one side or the other.
