While I am not running enterprise grade raid, I do have all my photos, apps, music and videos stored on this drive on my main computer that is also running as an iTunes server. I had a previous version of the Constellation ES 2 TB 7200 RPM. The drive was still going strong in a Hackmac running 24/7. No problems, just ran out of space. This should hold me for a little while. Now, waiting for 4 tb server grade drives to come down in price ๐Ÿ˜‰

Seagate drives are dependable and rarely, if ever, go bad. I’ve been running IT shops for over 20 years and Seagate drives are my number one choice.

Product not as advertised. What arrived was not what was shown in the picture. Same specs, but different manufacturer. Installed, and has failed already. Did not last three months. Avoid.

I had a drive degrade in my Synology NAS and was able to find the exact same server-level drive to replace it with. After install and rebuilding the drive (automated process), everything is up and running again perfectly. Great value.

Used this to replace an old drive in a Drobo device. Slipped in and fired right up. Zero problems after 2 months.

I have an old NAS that I’ve been running 3TB Seagate drives in for several years. Unfortunately, one of the old drives died, as they will.

Instead of buying the same class of drives (the old HDDs were desktop-class), I went with these drives and I would have never guessed just much of an improvement and impact they would be over the old 3TB drives. These Constellation drives gave a performance boost to the Synology UI and network performance that it feels like I got a new NAS.

After replacing the failed HDD with one of these and allowing the mirroring to replicate, I removed the remaining original drive and replaced it with another Constellation (I bought two new HDDs at the same time). Like tires, if you’re going to replace one, there’s no reason to not replace the other. Since I only have a two disk NAS, that’s all I needed to buy.

They are much noisier during spin up and operation, but hey, I’m not complaining. Cheap, responsive, and easy to use. SSDs will have wait a bit longer for my use case.
