Side by side, it compared favorably to low end DSLRs in terms of image quality, even in low light. There is only one other other IMX585 web cam I found, the Arducam, however, Arducam with 585 does not deliver. This web cam allows a much better manual control over parameters, and has proven quite stable. It also has a great form factor and a convenient 1/4-20 mounting.

So this is the best webcam on the market. But I am sorry Razer, for the price of an entry level or second hand mirrorless camera, it is unfathomable that there is no mac support. The camera works on a mac, but the software does not. No zoom, camera controls, etc. It is just beyond all comprehension that the worlds best webcam would not work on the platform that most imaging professionals use. I bought this for a project that required mac, and I had to return it. Other than than it is an amazing device.

This camera has incredible focus. Paired with a Elgato ring light it looks amazing straight out of the box.

Razer’s software for this camera is not available MACOS, which may scare some buyers off. But it shouldn’t. I paid $7.99 for “webcam settings” and it gives me everything I need and more to get crystal clear, DSLR like images out of this thing. What’s even better is that the app stays at the top of your screen and you can quickly jump between presets for different times of day, lighting conditions, etc. and it all works flawlessly with the Ultra.
Also, if you’re on the fence because of the focus hunting, honestly, it’s better than some other 4k cameras out there, it wasn’t anything unbearable for me. And I just made two presents under my settings app, one with auto focus on and one that’s manually set focus. I get the best do both worlds at the click of a button.
I’ve had my share of webcams and I’ve gone the DSLR route once. But for a WFH setup focused on the highest quality gear available for the best presentation online. This thing kicks a**!!!

I was searching for the best WebCam option short of going all in with a DLSR Camera. I wanted this to have a very good solution for Virtual Meetings, etc. If I was a Streamer or YouTube Content Creator, I would have gone for a much more expensive DLSR Camera with separate Microphone. (And I may yet go with a separate Microphone.)
The options I was looking at were the Razer Kiyo Pro Ultra (man they need to shorten that name), the Elgato Facecam Pro, and possibly the OBSBOT Tiny 2. These are all 4K, but more importantly, because most Virtual Meetings get compressed, I was looking for a WebCam with really good Camera Fundamentals. After perusing a lots of reviews, I chose the Razer Kiyo Pro Ultra because of the quality of the Sensor (Sony Starvis™ 2), Lens, etc.
Out of the box the Razer Kiyo Pro Ultra is great. Much better than my previous Logitech C930e (yeah, I know: that’s a Low Bar). But, and this is a Very Big But, Razer doesn’t have any Mac OS Camera Settings support. Their current Synapse3 software hasn’t been ported to Mac OS and their previous Synapse2 software doesn’t recognize the Ultra. This means that I’m stuck with the out of the box defaults. They “work”, but I can’t modify Auto-Focus, or White Point, etc., and I can’t update the Firmware.
I don’t understand this failure to support Mac OS. It’s been widely reported and Razer has publicly dismissed these customer complaints. I think that Razer is focusing on the Gamer Market, but I’m not sure why Gamers would need such a good WebCam for Twitch Streaming. Mac OS is the platform of choice for Content Creators, so the failure to support Mac OS is just befuddling. It’s like they want this product to fail in the market because of lack of support.
I’ll keep the Razer Kiyo Pro Ultra, but I’m disappointed and I can’t imagine buying any other Razer products.

It would have been nice to know this does not work with a Mac! Spent quite some time navigating a horrible support interface with Razer, then even more time as the tech explained how many of the functions don’t work with Mac (including opening their drivers). When I finally asked if he could walk me through how I could set it up, recognizing that all the functionality would not be there, he told me nobody at Razer can do that. What a waste of my time!

Don’t let some reviews fool you. This works great on websteaming. I was complimented on teams today on how good it looks. They didn’t even know I had a new webcam. I use an M1 Mac. Sure the Razer software isn’t on it but u use Camo software for Mac and it is awesome.
The picture quality is amazing also most other cameras at this price don’t have a mic. This one does. While it’s not the best it’s still good.

This camera is way over engineered and way to complicated. You better be aprogrammer if you wantto use this. Unless you are really good around computers stay away from this camera.

Muy buena cámara, ampliamente recomendada, la calidad de transmisión es excelente, muy bonitos colores, enfoque automático, obviamente aún tenemos que sacarleas provecho, solo la hemos utilizado 2 horas, depende mucho del tipo de computadora con la que sea utilizada, la tarjeta de gráficos y recursos disponibles.
La recomiendo totalmente.
