I have my audio equipment connected and live in Florida. So this is a last ditch protection.
There are cheaper surge protector multi-plugs but are they going to be there and provide the insurance plan their marketing folks advertise? Tripplite has been around a good while. Though I have not made any surge warranty claim, I think if Tripp were not following thru they would have lots of bad reviews or gone out of business by now.

I bought this because it was rated as actually being an excellent surge protector. Unfortunately, the cord, while longer than some, is not long enough that it’s helpful. Would love to see more 15’, GOOD surge protectors. They all either have miserly joule ratings, too-slow clamping times (if I recall the term correctly), or cost an ungodly fortune and are enterprise-oriented.
Device needs an update, because it has telephone lines (who still uses them that would bother to buy this?) instead of ethernet, which is still the most useful, especially if you’re using it for a router or PC.
Triple check if the cord is long enough, in conjunction with whatever you plug into it. If it is, buy it!

I own two of these, and will probably add 2 more pretty soon as I am expanding my network cabinet and home office. The long cord is fantastic, the tel ports are pretty obsolete… but If the fuse blows and cannot reset, it stops working. 10/10, properly designed equipment protection. If your gear fries because it did not trip, there is insurance. Nothing tells me you believe in your product like putting money behind the promise of protection.
Honestly I think at $18 this thing is truly the best you can buy.

Contrary to some other reviews from late 2023, the unit I received in Feb 2024 is brand new in package with no signs of age. I have bought this model before and find the layout to be spacious. It’s perhaps too chunky for small bedrooms but perfect for an entertainment system or home office. Tripp-Lite is my brand of choice for surge protectors.

Ordered 3 of these and they all came with open packages and missing items. Some have scuffs. Wouldn’t be so bad if this was disclosed in the description

This is a great surge protector. Mine may have been used/returned since there were light scuff marks on it. But it works perfectly fine and I decided not to return it. The great thing about this surge protector is the Tripp Lite brand reputation. It is UL Listed (UL 1449 specifically). A lot of other brands aren’t UL Listed. Another great feature that not too many folks know about is the “Let Through” or “Clamping Voltage” of this thing. It is rated at 330V – 400V. A lot of other brands are rated at 500V or above. Do yourself a favor and google surge protector clamping voltage or surge protector let through voltage to see why it’s very important to have something rated at 400V or below.

Like another reviewer said, mine was banged up, and not from shipping. Smelled like a thrift store. It looks old because it is. The latest documentation in the box said 2014. I got a good price ($20) for what might be a decent (albeit cheap feeling) product, but I’d rather pay a few bucks more for something that hasn’t been sitting in a box getting beat up for 9 years.
