Epson have always produced high quality printers and this is no differnt. From my first print on PHOTO PAPER this gives a truely perfect print. I recently printed some wedding photos as doubles and framed them. It all depends on the quality of the image you are printing and the paper. My digital camera photos do not come out as good as when I scan a photo in. However this is a fault of my camera and not the printer. Text prints very well altough I have seen better. A good trick with the cartridge is to replace it once the printer says its finished. You will be able to get a lot more prints out of it. At no degreation. When the ink runs out, you will know! Dont trust the meter. An A4 print takes about 4-5 minutes to print on photo settings which is not lightening but you must wait for Quality. I cant beleive the two bad reviews I’ve seen on this page have been using it correctly or with high quality images on good paper. I’ve seen many printers and this one is at the top. Consumables are also reasonably priced. If you want high quality photos and good word processed documents then this is the printer for you! I cannot rate it highly enough.

A while back, Epson flipped the the computer industry upsidedown by giving people what they wanted…higher resolutions andcheaper prices. They basically removed Hewlet Packard from the MacIntosh/graphics market for a year or two. I bought an Epson scanner first. Not bad. The software interface was not as good as HPs, but a quality scanner none the less. I sprung for this printer when it came out…boy I should have listened to the warnings. The software interface is lousy. If you do not use it regularly (i.e. print full color and b/w twice a week) the cartridge dries and clogs. Sometimes it can be cleaned sometimes you need to buy a new one. The print quality is decent, but it’s rare I get the color to print without one of the colors clogging. If you print from Netscape, forget it. The Epson software doesn’t cut it. Their tech support told me nothing ws wrong with their software and I should use a different browser! HA! DO NOT DOWLOAD THE NEW DRIVER FOR THIS, it doesn’t work. Bottom line if you do nothing and hit print daily and don’t want to make many adjustments or print to different sizes of paper (IE use the default settings) go for it. If you are a photographer, artist or care about easy changes and asjustments spend the extra bucks… END

When carefully configured with the “Custom-Advanced” settings that are available with the Epson software, the output of this printer is indistinguishable from high-end, professional custom photo-optical printing from 35 mm film.
Using the best photos captured with a Nikon Coolpix 800 digital camera, the printed resolution is better than film-printing up through 5×7 prints and nearly equal with 8×10 prints. (you can tell the time of day looking at a wrist watch on a person in group shot).
    Tech notes:
Comparing to photo-optic prints from 100 speed 35 mm film:
    1. With up to 8 x 10 prints, the pixel-grain blended and diffused with the printer’s inkjet-grain, results in less visible grain than what you see when printing from 100 speed 35 mm film with photo-optic printing.
    2. The superior detail resolution achieved with up to 5 x 7 prints is a result of the normal diffusion inherent to the best availabe optical enlargements. There is no focus or chromatic registration variable with digital printing in the process of laying pixels to paper. The result is better detail in prints to this size.
Complaints: The default installation settings for the printer software are not set for printing Photos and it takes an aggressive or professional user to figure out how to get the best performance for photo printing. Once configured, you can save the settings, but you have to drill deep into a series of dialog boxes to reload your personal settings each time you start a session of printing.
It’s unfortunate that many casual users well never discover how good the prints can be because shortcomings of the software interface.
In Summary, an incredible product for the perfectionist who wishes to take personal control of the printing of his photo portfolio.
Next thing to discover: Is there a UV filtering coating that can be applied to the prints so they don’t degrade at the accelerated rate associated with ink prints ?

Kodak, look out! Grab some of that photo glossy paper, made for photos and print your phots with the 750. It is UNREAL how good it is! Use your digital camera, or scan some images, and print them on this printer, you simply wont believe it is from a computer printer. Downside: prints are not instant. the computer does some work to get you there. Another downer: the black color makes it hard for me to see the front panel in my (often) dimly lit study. Summary: You cant go wrong with buying this printer.

I really shouldn’t even call these printouts; on photopaper at the highest resolution settings, output actually looks better than typical photo-quality. I don’t think I will ever bother getting photo enlargements from a local film developer again… this printer is that good.
I disagree with the people who say it’s hard to configure. The instructions are easy to follow, and I hope Epson doesn’t give up the versatility of the configuration settings just because a few people have trouble reading the manual.
Another great feature is it’s ability to print up to 9″ X 44″. The only downside, it seems to use a lot of ink. Still, in terms of features, quality, price, power and – yes – ease of use … you can’t beat this printer.

Old model, but worth considering, if found. Small yet dependable. Not especially a colored ink hog, but all 6 colors in one cartridge (black ink seperate, of course.)

Since I got this great printer I have not had any problems. Prints great photos. Does take a little time to figure out all the options and settings. Worth the price I paid.
