This isn’t my favorite filament drier I’ve used. Design is a bit clunky overall and isn’t fully sealed around the edges. It is nice to have two standard size rolls drying at one time though.

I’m very impressed with the Space Pi Plus Dryer! Seems to be built quite well, holds two spools, has a simple and very readable user I/F! It even has compartments for desiccant packs so that when you’re not running the dryer there’s some help to hold the moisture down! But the compartments for the internal desiccant are very small and the micro packs (like what gets shipped inside the Filament package) will not do much good for very long. I feed my Printer with two PTFE tubes already so I removed the rubber grommets from the filament feed holes and screwed in PC4-M10 pneumatic connectors to hold the PTFE tubing securely (had to drill out the holes very slightly to fit the M10 threads). I’ve had the dryer for four months now and it is working perfectly! My one wish for the units design would be to have bottom filament outlet holes as well as the top mounted holes. With bottom exits for the filament, my PTFE runs to my printer could be probably two feet shorter.

I’ve used a bunch of Sunlu and Esun dryers and while those work fine- one thing that has always bothered me is they had rubber mini grommet covers to cover the filament holes, but the dryers came with 2 holes on the lid for feed options, nothing seal the ptfe connection and there wasn’t any rubber seals on the edges of the seperating parts- so whats the point of providing one small seal when the rest of the product is exhausting anyways? The Space Pi came with seals or adhesive pads to really seal the unit any left over areas are intentional to vent heat, usually near the fan and heater unit near the bottom areas. Rest of the unit is covered up and theres ptfe fittings to keep tubes routed and sealed as well. Great stuff. Operation wise- unit isn’t too loud and touch screen works well enough. I would have preferred tactile buttons, but this keeps parts count low for production I imagine. Navigating through the menus are easy. There’s preset filament profiles for heating and timing, but you can set whatever custom times and temps that best works for you. Inner chambers are large enought to fit all standard IKG or small spools. Overall, super happy with this unit.

Even though the product listing doesn’t say it, this is in fact a Creality brand filament dryer, like shown in the product pictures. The design is really nice, where the cover is hinged at the base so it can easily be opened to change out filaments. This might not work great if you don’t have space behind the dryer for the cover to open though. There are two gasket holes at the top where you can use the provided tubing to run the filament directly to the print, or you can plug them with the attached plugs for better drying. There are two other always-open holes to exhaust the moisture and cooler air. The interior also has a couple of slots for desiccant bags and comes with a couple, so you can easily dry the filament along with a desiccant for the filament storage bags.
The controlling interface is a pretty weak quality touchscreen, but it works. You can change between F and C degrees, and you always see the current container temperature and desired temperature, and the current moisture level. This dryer also has a bunch of presets for the type of filament you’re drying, so there’s no guesswork what to set it at, just change the preset.
The thing I noticed most is how quiet this dryer is. I have another dryer that is about a loud as the 3d printers next to it, but you can barely tell this Creality dryer is on. The sound amounts to a very low hum, as if there wasn’t even a fan running, but it still can take the interior moisture level from over 50% to 30% in a half hour.

The Creality Space Pi has dual fans that circulate a LOT of air when drying your filament. It does a great job of quickly drying out your filament. The downside is that it uses a lot more power (150watts peak) than some of the smaller dryers. At the same time it does dry it quicker. The included PTFE tubes allow you to route the filament directly out of the dryer to your machine.
My primary issue with this dryer (and my other creality dryer) is that the hygrometer doesn’t work very well. Unless your filament is REALLY wet (like TPU) then it will pretty much constantly read at 15% humidity. You cannot use this to get a good indication of the moisture in the filament. This is likely due to the amount of dry air circulating and it is just reading that dry air…
My preferred filament dryer is the Sunlu S2. However, that dryer takes a long time to dry filament because it lacks any significant air circulation. The Sunlu does a much better job of showing the moisture of the filament. This is most likely due to the “lack” of circulation compared to the Space Pi.
If you don’t use the PTFE tubes, then be sure to remove the rubber stopper or your filament will catch on it when printing.
Overall a solid dryer that is easy to use.
