Bought this to be an AiMesh node to extend wifi to room farthest from router. Setup was quick and easy. Works well, improved signal by 100%. I’ve used Asus equipment for years and have never been disappointed.

For Me My Comcast plan is only 55 mps , so why Do I need a router that supports faster speeds ? I found this on sale at amazon warehouse deal . came in just like a new one at a 25% discount. A
I tried one of the lasted ones from Asus , very buggy , would not connect to my older devices . I got this , and was even able to update to the latest firmware for 2021 ! So unless You need wifi 6 I would wait till these get sorted out , for now the older asus routers are more stable .
Their are 3 versions of this router , one come with 800 MHz duel core , another more recent comes with 1Ghz duel core , but the ” P ” version is what You want . It comes with a 1.4Ghz duel core .
Range is great and the upright way that this sits is great for space saving

This item is an open box item or possible a referb. It is not in its original condition. Nothing in the product description says this was previously opened. Buyer beware!!!!!!!!!

Very easy setup, a ton and a half options for those Pro setups, in my case I used it to amplify the weak AT&T modem/router provided with the service to a friend, wired this router to the AT&T equipment and used it as a wireless switch, now the signal is strong all around the house, even do this router is placed 10 Inches away from the original wireless signal provided by the modem/router from the ISP… I personally the version of this router (AC 1700) and I can not complain, 2 years an counting, never a problem, strength is great and speeds are always good, I am hoping this newer version is as good as mine, time will tell.

Loved the ability to download all the settings at one time from my old router (another asus router) that was starting to intermittently fail… Total time was under 15 minutes to disconnect old router replace it with this one and configure… Good work Asus 🙂

A little tweaking with the settings (had to also update the firmware) and got my NordVPN working – for some reason NordVPN is very specific about the routers they work with.
Also, other routers are too powerful and I can feel the EMF – this one is powerful enough to provide the fast service I pay for. Also excellent that it has a wifi off button on the side to use with hardwired computers only, without going into the interface to shut if off!
Settings are also great, can fine tune down to the minute I want wifi to turn off!

The support was horrible, it wouldn’t connect and the support wasn’t much help. I was able to get it to work using online forums. Since setup, it has worked flawlessly as an Aimesh node.

As I said . they work well. Very dependable. Yes not currently, but works better than the newer. Going thru a period of break downs. This is expected with the age of these components. Will get thru the issues these are creating. New items are always coming forward. Smile the new arrivals will be here soon.

It’s been a while since I’ve written a review, but wanted folks to know that ASUS routers – or at least the ASUS RT-AC1900 WiFi router -is 100% BROKEN.
It may have been over several weeks or even months where my Internet first started to act ‘wonky’ (delays, hangups, dropped connections), but starting in earnest last week, things went south in a hurry. Tracked it to HUGE latency numbers – to the router’s OWN hosted gateway. Every router gateway that I have ever pinged is <1ms. Not this one – sometimes 1ms, sometimes 2,400ms – completely inconsistent – unless you have load or a production support maintenance (apparently) when all traffic fails 100%.
Yes, ASUS uses a redirect for web management of this router, but they apparently redirect EVERY access attempt including simple ICMP pings. This served to not only intermittently fully break my Internet access, but also broke access to connected devices WITHIN MY WALLS.
Before you think I have it out for ASUS, I do not. In fact, the ASUS replaced a different router solution, and – before I knew what was going on – I even bought a replacement same-model ASUS.
If you bought this or any ASUS that redirects its management page, test directly connected to the cablemodem first, before chasing your tail. This will tell you whether your ISP is fine. Mine was. So was my cablemodem. Nope, this problem is CONFIRMED 100% pure ASUS.
The best part? ASUS is not ADMITTING they have a problem – not in response to a warranty ticket, not Twitter and not their blogs or any tech news outlet for that matter. Just that they are still “looking into a latency issue” – going on 2 weeks now. Add very poor support for anyone beyond Level 1 phone jockey – the latter has done nothing but ask for the same info already provided and stalled for another 24-48 business hours – thrice – and you have a losing solution that will put you into fits blaming your ISP or cable modem, and possibly put YOUR small business OUT of business, similar to how mine was affected.
Put in another manufacturer’s router this afternoon. Boom, back to normal: consistent low latency gateway pings, consistent Internet and connected device performance and SANITY.
I have run a home network for over 20 years and have been in IT for even longer than that and would not be writing this review if it were not 100% my experience. My opinions are my own. Thanks for reading.
