First, this router was easy to set up through the Tether (TP-Link) app, and my internet connection is great. Unfortunately, it’s bound to another TP-Link ID. This means the certified refurbished AX6000 router is bound to a different owner. A factory reset won’t fix this. The previous owner or TP-Link support must change ownership.

I reset everything several times and spent hours troubleshooting until I finally contacted TP-Link support. An agent told me that they’d need to forward me to someone else who would open a ticket for resetting the ownership. I eventually got a TP-Link email response asking me to provide screenshots of the issue along with an image of the back of my router’s serial number and my purchase invoice. None of the TP-Link support agents were able to unbind the previous owner’s TP-Link ID from the router, but my support ticket was escalated to the engineering team.

My initial thought was that it would be no big deal, so what if I can’t use certain features? My upload speed went from 0.09Mbps to 11.07Mbps, and it has an excellent WIFI range. However, the security risks aren’t worth it. The previous owner might still have remote access via the TP-Link cloud service, which would allow them to monitor and control the router’s settings. They could potentially change network settings, WIFI passwords, and security settings. They might be able to push firmware updates or changes that could affect performance and security. They might be able to see connected devices and monitor traffic, thereby compromising privacy.

Any previous ownership settings, such as TP-Link ID binding, should be removed before selling this item as certified refurbished. I sincerely hope this was an isolated quality control oversight and that nobody else unknowingly has this same problem. I didn’t realize the ownership issue until I decided on a whim to link my router to Alexa skills. I would suggest logging in to the router with the IP address and going to Advanced > TP-Link ID > Log in to bind the router to your TP-Link ID, and check for this message, “You cannot log in to this router because you are not a manager of it. Please ask the owner to add you to the managers list”. I regret this certified refurbished purchase and wish I had purchased a new router instead.

Update 07/02/2024: TP-Link engineering support successfully unbound the previous owner’s TP-Link ID from my router. It was a huge hassle, and the vulnerability was not worth the few dollars saved by purchasing certified refurbished.

I purchased this router to use as a Wireless Access Point. I have an AX55 as my primary router, and the AX50 as the secondary router. I have a ranch home and I have the two routers at opposite ends of the house, giving me great signal strength throughout the entire house. I have 500Mbps internet, and I get the full 500Mbps speed on my laptop (wireless).
When I first setup the router, I got the full 500 WiFi speed. However, after a few days, the WiFi speed dropped to around 85Mbps. Rebooting the router didn’t help. I called Amazon customer support and they put me in touch with a TP-Link tech. After doing a number of different tests, we found that even the wired ethernet port was not giving the full speed. After verifying that the cable going into the router had the full speed, I plugged everything back together and the speed has been great since. I don’t know if I plugged the input ethernet cable into the same LAN port (I wasn’t using the built-in WAP configuration). I’m guessing that perhaps one of the LAN ports was bad, and after testing, another LAN port was used. Whatever the reason, it’s been working great for over a month now.

The price, signal strength, and sleek design are ideal for smaller spaces. I live in a 3bed 2bath house with a little under 1100 soft with a little more than half an acre and this router surpasses every model I have purchased in the past. 10/10

Got this to use with an upgraded Starry connection; only confusing part about the install was that you need to login to the router to get the MAC address from it, and not the label on the outside, to give to the ISP. Other than that detail, setup was pretty painless; has a decent set of controls for the WiFi. Cost-wise, it only cost me $20-30 to upgrade my PC to support WiFi-6E, and take full advantage of my ISP’s connectivity. Something to note: older laptops and Macbooks don’t play nicely with 160mhz bandwidth; you’ll want to stick to 80mhz if something doesn’t connect.

I had a weak spot in my basement where my Linksys WiFi couldn’t reach, bought this hoping it would be better… it’s not. I ended up buy 100ft ether net cable and running it from the cable modem to the basement where I plugged it into this router. It works fine and was easy to set up. Now it have two WiFi net works to cover the house. Drives my wife crazy.

Works great with my Spectrum modem. I did go on YouTube to figure out how to set it up. You do need to download an app called “TETHER” but it was really easy as I followed the YouTube guy’s instructions. Love YouTube.
