the device changes the IP address even though it is set to static, not even the hotline can help. For a new device it is a waste of time.

Things I like: It throws the signal deep into my back yard (approx 150 feet away), and is still a usable signal. I also like that it is PoE, which allows me to power it from inside the house and (eventually) install it either externally or in another location.
Things I would change or don’t like: I am not a fan of the way the “non-managed” setup is handled, while it is handy to be able to control the AP from a web interface, the interface itself is not going to be intuitive for most users. Getting into the Web UI was easy enough, but switching the IP of the AP over to my network scheme presented a few challenges, which required me to set a static IP on my router to the MAC of the AP, and then change the AP’s IP before disconnecting it from my computer (which had NIC set to AP’s network). Just trying to set the IP in the AP’s web UI did not allow for it to connect to my network for some reason.
Buy/maybe/don’t buy: If you have other Tenda gear, it is probably worth picking up. However, if you are like me and have other gear, it might be better to pick up an AP that is not designed to rely on an ecosystem.

I was concerned when I opened this because I ordered a Wi-Fi repeater and this one will also plug in to your router. I ended up doing both, and my Wi-Fi in the garage is 100% improved.
The photo shows that there are a few ways to utilize this device, including simply as a repeater.
I was not familiar with the PoE concept, but it just adds some current to the ethernet cable so you don’t need a separate power adaptor. The kit supplies a hande PoE adaptor so you are ready to go. I did need to supply my own ethernet cables.
Once I figured that part out, it was off to the races and I was up and running in a jiffy.
I had no app to download, nothing to configure, it just hopped in and started working when I plugged it in. And now my Wi-Fi signal in the garage is great. Even with the door closed. It even shows up as a “Tenda” network when looking for Wi-Fi on your cellphone. I was ready to start troubleshooting and figuring out how to make this work, but it was working great from the very outset.
So, for ease of use, and practical applications that really work, this device gets my thumbs up.

It is very hard to configure. The client + AP mode can connect to a open network at a distance, but it is hard to figure out why it can’t connect to an open network at a short distance. The manual is 120 pages long but it is helpful though. A individual with network experience is probably required.

I have been using this outdoor access point for a few weeks now and I am very impressed with it. I have it installed in my backyard and it provides a strong and stable signal to my entire yard, even to the far corners. I have a pool and a patio area in my backyard, and I used to have trouble getting Wi-Fi signal in those areas. But with this access point, I have no problems at all. I can even stream video and play games without any buffering or lag.
I am also very pleased with the durability of this access point. It is IP65 rated, which means it is weatherproof and dustproof. I live in an area with a lot of rain and snow, and this access point has held up perfectly. I have not had any problems with it at all.

The Tenda AC1200 is like the superhero fan of Wi-Fi access points. It’s got more modes than a Swiss Army knife and it’s powered by PoE. Ideal for backyards and garages, it’s like having your own personal tech butler. Now, my lawnmower and my leaf blower can enjoy uninterrupted Wi-Fi as they gather dust. The signal is so strong, I think even the squirrels are now browsing the internet. Highly recommended if you want to provide free Wi-Fi to every bird, bug, and blade of grass in your vicinity!
