Good router for the price. Probably one of the most affordable ways to upgrade to WiFi 6 and avoid renting from your ISP. It does the job for a 2bd apartment, strong signal and speeds throughout. It needs a few firmware updates out of the box but setup was simple otherwise. Not a bad looking unit either. Made in Taiwan instead of China if that sort of thing matters to you.

Gigabit Ethernets and wifi6
Smart switching \ mesh
large radio coverage ,no issue so far

Easy to set up. Has limitations working from room to room with a strong signal. Expected better signal strength as advertised. Good value for apartments.

The Router has a decent range and very good Wifi speed due to Wifi6 technology. The only shortfall is that it has 3 LAN out ports instead of the conventional 4 outputs; but it’s not really a bothersome thing. Overall great product for a reasonable price.

I bought two units and linked them together I got connection, it has strong signal from what I see but I am getting very slow and spotty connection rates via WiFi (70 to 110 mbps max) on any of my computers. If I connect via Ethernet on this router I get 600+ mbps. I tried a few setups and even shutting down one of the routers to make sure it was not any kind of interference from the other router. Here are some picture of speed test I did. 85 mbps is via WiFi about 25 feet away from router. And 684 mbps is with 25 ft cat 5 ethernet cable connected to that router. both test were done with in minutes of each other for testing and on the same Mac Book pro (M3 chipset). It have also dropped connection on me a few times. I don’t recommend getting this router. Wish I could send them back, but have had them for 2 months now and don’t see way to return. Going to email D-Link for support.

Hace algรบn tiempo conocรญ la marca y no habรญa tenido oportunidad de utilizarla. Me llevo uno grata sorpresa. Lo mejor:
* Precio, las prestaciones son muy buenas por el costo del producto
* Simple, tiene lo necesario para mejorar los mรณdems de los operadores
* WiFi 6 con AX1500
* Mesh, se puede crear una red en malla no tan intuitiva, pero tampoco es complejo
* Aplicaciรณn para la gestiรณn EAGLE PRO AI, puedes revisar y realizar algunas configuraciรณnes desde la nube
* Los parรกmetros de fรกbrica resultan suficientes para establecer una buena conexiรณn con tarjetas WiFi de PC de escritorio que ha sido complejo con otro mรณdem

very good

Wasn’t able to configure an ftp server as advertised, because the firmware is very limited in its options. Range is lackluster for a 4 antenna router, speeds are okay but not great. I sent chat requests and mails to customer services, no reply at all, I feel for it’s price(35) it does a decent job, but you get what you pay for and dlink doesn’t see to be very active in regards to support lately

My ITS/CIS Son wanted to set up OpenWRT for his VPN service, and this router was most cost effective option available for him to experiment on. He found only one major issue, you’ll need to use a slightly older version browser to do the initial memory reflash, but once that first step was out of the way, the process can be done on any browser, and was easy to do. He recommends this router as a great starting point for someone wanting to use a VPN for their home network, not just per computer.
He found the information, appropriate firmware and instructions for redoing the router at openwrt.org. Migration to using it as a VPN router was a relatively simple, step by step process, and well documented on the OpenWRT website. Setting up the VPN side was covered on the VPN provider’s websites, so for whicher brand/service you choose you can find what you need to make it work smoothly on an enabled router.
For roughly $30, it was a great buy, and wasn’t a huge risk if somehow the router gets bricked. I think the lower price is because D-Link ceased DIR-2640 production a while ago, and product support of this model ended in June, but that doesn’t mean the router is dead to the world; to the contrary, he’ll probably get several years of good use out of it before it is ready for our local electronics recycling center. ๐

I bought this router to install OpenWrt because it is fully supported by the project. The only problem I had was flashing OpenWrt firmware on an Ubuntu laptop – it looks like D-Link Recovery GUI does not work well with Linux-based browsers (I tried Chrome and Firefox). But there is a post #93280 in OpenWrt forum that suggests using Windows for flashing, and that solved the problem.

I am using it for security suveillance cameras and NVR plus wifi mesh with another repeater TP-link, Google chromecast to tvset; by its powerful processing power connects nearly instantaneus a wifi appliance for example android phone. My PPPoE connection has no disconnections at all none whatsoever, altough my old router was disconecting me from the broadband because the wifi webcam administring phone was umpleasant for the windows 10 firewall of the PC forcying me to use the phone on the 5G/LTE internet at home in the wifi range domain only to keep the surveillance camera connected by wifi on the internet in order to run it well which was very annoying – but with this router no problem.
Another plus is how all the equipment is functioning off the bat at the moment of finishing the phisicaly wiring of all devices in a cabinet, at the elecrical power switch powering on : instantly the net is everywhere no overridings at all at the booting up in function including wifi + UTP local network, everything that is been phisicaly powered off from the grid one hour before, cables removed from their sockets for the rewiring through the cabinet holes.
Deficits I didn’t met no one ever.
