Replaced a roughly 5 year old SURFboard with this refurbished 3.1 model. I pay for 600 mbps download speed from Xfinity and was only getting 50. First I switched all of the cables from the old modem to the new, then I powered it up and opened the Xfinity app on my iPhone and chose Activate Internet. The app asked for the MAC # on the bottom of the unit, which I entered. It then took about 5 minutes and suddenly my new modem was activated. I ran speed test and was still getting 50 mbps, so I rebooted my Orbi router and a couple minutes later my download speeds were 575 mbps. Unlike some reviewers I did not need to call Xfinity for activation help; the App worked just fine.

The item worked just giving Public IP and my internal network requires some changes since I have Access Points, a Router, etc. Unfortunately, this Modem interface does not allow you to do any sort of change, at least not the one I got. This might work for someone in a residence that does not require or have a lot of network devices and needs a direct connection. It has a very high bandwidth speed and a good price.

This modem performs flawlessly once connected to your service provider, and with Xfinity that was no issue.
But after a storm I found that my cable line was hit by lightning and the took out my wired network, modem included.
The warranty covers this thankfully, but dealing with technical support was a nightmare. The language barrier was awful. I had to spell everything phonetically and after 3 phone calls and approximately 2 hours of phone time, I was given 2 choices. 1) After I send the modem to them and they determine it’s bad, they will send another or, 2) Pay for the shipping costs and they’d send one right away.
So I purchased a used unit to fill the void while I wait.
To summarize; if you have a backup and technical support is not an issue, this is a great piece of equipment.

just replaced my aging Netgear modem that was supposedly capable of 300Mbps. I have the “fast” xfinity package advertised at 400Mbps. We’ve added lots to our network over the years and speeds were getting slow. I also have old Apple AirPort extreme router + and apple airport express range extender.
I did a speed test on my laptop and i was only getting like 30-40Mbps. Unacceptable. So I just replaced my modem only and now i’m literally getting 400-475Mbps at the same location in my office!
Install was a breeze. Plug it in and call Xfinity. It does take a while for them to do everything, but all i did was sit on the phone.
i also did a ton of research and bought new mesh routers. Umm, those are getting returned! LOL. So impressed that all i had to do was replace my modem. Incredible results.

Easy setup, easy connection. Only issue is that there’s no information about transferring the phone from land line to VOIP. For a newbie, that’s a problem.

If you’re on Xfinity’s mid-split upload ‘next gen speed’ tier where you can get >100mbit upload speeds, this modem is not for you. In fact this modem in my case couldn’t get better than 5.6mbits up, when the Xfinity modem got 120. But if you’re on the older upload system then this should be fine. Even as a ‘refurb’ the modem looked pristine and came with a network cable and power supply, and Xfinity was able to provision it without a problem. Note that it’s also limited to 800mbits down. Despite having 1gig service, it got about 770mbits at best. But this is nothing to do with it being refurbished. It’s just what the T25 is capable of.

It took several hours, which included three phones calls to Xfinity, a wasted visit to an Xfinity “store” in between the second and third calls and lots of frustration before I was able to get it activated. With these being refurbished modems, there is a chance that the modem you buy may still be listed on someone’s account, as when it was sent back to the retailer or the manufacturer, the customer did not remove it from the devices listed on their account. So when a customer gets the device and tries to activate it on Xfinity, it cannot be activated because the device is still associated with the account of the person who had returned it to the retailer or to Arris. This is what happened to me, and the two overseas based customer service agents were clearly dealing with an issue they were not trained to deal with. The third call ended up being handled by a US based agent who had experience with the issue and getting it fixed.

This review is for an Amazon certified refurbished product.
This product is a high speed modem for use with Xfinity Internet service. Xfinity was able to connect to the modem without difficulty when I contacted customer service.
This modem increased my usable Internet speed from 25 MB per second to 180 MB per second, a significant increase.
However, the product dropped the Internet about five times a day during work hours which became frustrating and intrusive on my work, because I work from home. My family also became frustrated.
I am returning the product for a refund.
As a sidenote, I ordered a different model Amazon certified refurbished modem to replace this one and it did not work either. I will never order an Amazon refurbished product again.
