Amazon Customer –
The media could not be loaded.
I opened the product in December 2020/ put a Rogers sim/ tested didn’t work-I then purchased another mobile hotspot from a local store and it works
– I asked amazon to return the product a few months later / they said they can’t because its past 30 days- I did explain that me and my wife are essential service members and we didn’t have the time and our government is telling us to stay home as much as possible.
Amazon won’t accept the product back even though its brand new and doesn’t work.
It’s very unfortunate this experience I have I will watch out for future purchases going fwd after this and other negative experiences

I legitimately never write reviews but hopefully this will save some headaches for anyone who reads this. Tried to keep it as short as possible but it’s a lot to cover.
I did quite a considerable amount of research before buying this product, reading all of the reviews, particularly those that reference the APN number and the other reviewer that wrote the “idiots” guide. I felt a little uneasy not being able to test the product in advance but knew there was no alternative. I travel internationally a few times a year but I purchased this product in preparation for a 2 week trip to Korea and Japan in sept 2019. Our trip started in Seoul. I used Klook to pre-order a SIM which I then picked up at the airport. I plugged the SIM in while I was standing at the booth in the airport and it booted right up and immediately connected – great. Used it for a few days in Korea with good speed and no problems whatsoever.
I then flew to Japan and again preordered a SIM through Klook to pick up at Osaka airport. Again test it while I’m standing at the counter, cannot get it to work. Keep trying, no luck. I then ask the staff who spoke very little English and was told that the SIM will not work in a pocket wifi, only a mobile phone. I checked with another associate, same answer. I then went to a different booth, which was a different company all together, same answer. Highly disappointed, I asked them for a refund. They said they would need to contact Klook to issue the refund. I asked them for any sort of documentation that proves I returned the SIM card. The lady at the counter gave me a hand written piece of paper, again in broken English, saying I should be issued a refund – great. (It took a month of fighting with Klook to eventually get a refund)
So when I get to my hotel in Osaka I continue my research because I cannot determine why it worked in Korea but will not work in Japan. Apparently the Docomo network, and all Japan networks, require this APN number in order to activate the SIM. I got to the point where I felt pretty confident that I had figured out how to get it to work, despite what I was told by the staff at the airport. I went to the store and bought the cheapest SIM card I could get, knowing that if I could not get it to work, I would only be out a few bucks. Brought it back to the hotel and after going through every setting in both the device and the app, finally got it working. I was pretty psyched, feeling like I had scored a major victory.
However, after using it for a while, the speed was just not there. The device would constantly lose connection and the internet was so slow that it was almost unusable. The majority of what I was doing what looking up directions or trip advisor so it really wasn’t anything that would have overwhelmed the device. I was also only in major cities, Osaka, Kyoto, and Tokyo. I went through and changed the settings, thinking maybe it was being throttled to 3G but nothing I did seemed to help. Again, this was strange because the product worked completely fine in Korea but Japan gave me nothing but headaches. It got to the point where one of my hotels offered a free pocket wifi rental and I ended up using that one rather than the one I had purchased.
I should also mention that I have worked in the software industry for the last 13 years. I’m not an IT professional but I’m fairly competent when it comes to navigating and troubleshooting. Needless to say, I was pretty disappointed and wasted a ton of time trying to get the device working as advertised. When I got home I ended up returning the product for a refund. I’m gearing up for another trip, this time to Thailand, and I’m not sure if I’ll end up buying a different brand or just trying to rent a device once I’m over there.

works well and reliable once connected. not the most user friendly device though. can take several minutes to connect your device/phone as well as pick up the local network in the area you are traveling to. have been using it with WorldSIM Data SIM card. I like that it tells you how much data you have been consuming at the bottom of the screen. overall still beats the hassle of renting a wifi hotspot device every time we travel outside the US.

Took this little Mifi to different parts of Mexico Thailand and Malaysia and it worked great! I went with a group of 6 and everyone was able to connect without any issues. I purchased my data sim cards from the airports because the employees there will help you with setting up the network. I was a bit confused on how to connect my phone to the device from the app but later found out that the device must have a sim card with data in order for the app to connect your phone to the device. Just connect to the Mifi’s network. Keep the temperature you leave this device in in mind. I went on a boat tour and left it running in a sealed bag while swimming and almost burned my finger when trying to grab it because i forgot how hot and humid the area was! This holds true for all devices, but I would definitely keep in mind where you will be keeping the device. Battery also lasted all day. Im glad I did my research on which travelers wifi to purchase because this was the best for downloading speeds and connection!

Low quality build. Does 3G even with 4G sim and coverage. Comes with MTN logo instead of Huawei

Skeptical at First, I read a lot of reviews before deciding on this little device. I typically don’t bother with Chinese brands, but this thing actually works. What’s also a good thing is the mobile app that you can download to manage the device.
Unboxing: The product comes in a nice box which is probably a little larger than needed. The device is a little bigger than a credit card about as thick as a small cell phone (due mostly to the battery). I was very surprised as to how small this device actually is! Inserting the battery was pretty straight forward, albeit a bit difficult if you don’t have long fingernails to pry open the back. I recommend using a small coin or something non-sharp as the case could very easily get damaged.
I didn’t install a SIM right away, as I was still in the US.
Setup:
1.) Charge the device before using, this is highly recommended as the Lithium battery is probably drained a bit from storage.
2.) For a first time setup, skip inserting the SIM unless you want to use the generic out of the box settings (NOT RECOMMENDED).
3.) Download the Huawei app in the iTunes store ( I use an iPhone, so my instructions might be slightly different)
3.) Turn on the device
4.) Connect to the device and put in the generic wifi password
5.) Use the App to start managing the device
6.) Change the Access Point Name, and IP ( if you desire)
7.) Reconnect and change the access point password
8.) Reconnect
9.) Use the app to power the device off or long push the power button on the device
Viola, you are good to go.
This device was reliably used on the following networks:
1.) Vietnam: Vittel (7GB for ~230,000 VND @ the Airport) – Ho Chi Minh City and within a 3 hour radius of the city, very fast and reliable.
2.) China: China Unicom (1GB for 180 RMB in Guangzhou International Airtport, stupid expensive in China) – Used in Guangzhou, Fuzhou, Qingdao, and Beijing. Fuzhou was a little slow but the other cities were fast.
I used it for FaceTime, laptop connection (email, VPN) and VOiP calls. We connected up to 3 laptops (VPN) and 3 iPhones simultaneously to this device. In Beijing, at the airport lounge, I had to switch the device to the 5Ghz channel because of interference causing slow connection.
Pro’s: Works out of the box. LONG battery life (definitely more than 4 hours as rated). Has a mobile app to manage and handles multiple devices. Also has dual wifi frequencies (but can only use one at a time). Has a micro SD slot inside to store files (file server)
Con’s: A bit difficult on initial setup, but easy to use once you do so. The SIM is hard to put in/pull out.
Another reviewer confirmed this thing to work in Europe and another in the Philippines (where I plan to use in the future). This device is the future for travel. Why pay the exorbitant roaming charges or calls, txt, and data? With this device, you will never need to use the roaming feature ever again. Do Note: China is (stupid) expensive for data, IMO. 7GB in Vietnam for ~$11 and 1GB in China for $30!!!.
