Don’t let the fact that it has a web I terface fool you. For those who don’t know about networks it will still be a learning curve but for someone that knows networking Cisco makes it a breeze. Finally a affordable switch from Cisco for small to medium sized businesses. If your looking for an affordable and stable switch from the #1 maker in the world this is it. Has all the security options you need. Not recommended as a replacement firewall but has many security features not found elsewhere in other switches.

And if you will, go buy a lottery ticket. Three stars. Product build – looks good. Web interface – looks good. Customer support – what is that.
Device did not “connect out of the box”, which I was not expecting to magically happen anyway … So FF to tech support. After talking to 5 people, getting their useless CISCO id, listening to their noisy phone lines, wasting time = RETURN.
Gonna go buy from some other U.S. based company.

It’s a lot more expensive than the cheap TP-LINK switch I am returning, but it’s rock solid. The WEB GUI is pretty powerful, this switch has all the features I need. I was able to upgrade to the latest firmware (though it did set everything back to default). It is very stable has lots of features and doesn’t give me all the erroneous errors the TP-LINK was giving me. I have not had to call tech support yet, but Cisco has great documentation online. Going to dive in to the VLAN and QoS next week.

On my home network this unit resets every hour or or two. After working with Cisco, including getting a new unit, the issue has not been resolved. I can see from the output on the console that the kernel is crashing. Updating firmware did not help. Be sure to return to Amazon if you see this behavior. I’m stuck with the Cisco warranty which has been a painful process..

Works great as a layer-2 switch. A little over priced, but does come with al the bells and whistles, like SNMP, which is good from a management perspective.

Had a power outage. Switch was on a surge protector and will not power up. Had it less than two months. Not impressed.

I wish someone wrote a review like this so that I didn’t waste hours of my day and time for delivery. In short this is a dummy swithc. You can’t assign IPs to VLANs and you can’t assign IPs to ports. It’s just a glorified dummy switch with added features. If you want any type of IP routing capabilities DO NOT BUY THIS!! You will want to go with 250 series or above but even with those make sure you really confirm the features you want are included. Leave it to Cisco to sell a product and not mention any of this in desription during purchase.
