    This product does not disappoint.

The D-Link 8 Port Gigabit Ethernet Unmanaged Metal Desktop Switch is a reliable and efficient solution for those looking to expand their network capabilities without breaking the bank. Here’s a closer look at its features and performance.

    Design and Build Quality
The switch boasts a sturdy metal casing, which not only gives it a professional look but also ensures durability. Its compact design makes it suitable for desktop use, allowing it to fit seamlessly into various environments, whether at home or in a small office. The ports are well-spaced, making it easy to connect cables without clutter.

    Performance
With eight Gigabit Ethernet ports, this switch provides ample connectivity for multiple devices, supporting speeds up to 1000 Mbps. I found that it handles traffic efficiently, with minimal latency—perfect for streaming, gaming, or transferring large files. The plug-and-play functionality means no setup is required, allowing for immediate use right out of the box.

    Energy Efficiency
D-Link has incorporated energy-saving features, such as a power-saving mode that reduces power consumption when ports are inactive. This is a nice touch for environmentally conscious users and helps keep operating costs down.

    Connectivity
The unmanaged nature of the switch simplifies networking. It automatically detects the optimal speed for each connected device, eliminating the need for manual configuration. This makes it an excellent choice for those who may not be tech-savvy but still want reliable performance.

    Limitations
While the unmanaged design is beneficial for ease of use, it does mean a lack of advanced features like VLAN support or network monitoring. For users needing more control over their network, a managed switch might be more appropriate. However, for basic networking needs, this switch performs admirably.

    Conclusion
    I recommend it 100%
Overall, the D-Link 8 Port Gigabit Ethernet Unmanaged Metal Desktop Switch is a fantastic choice for users looking to expand their network with a straightforward, effective device. It combines solid performance, durability, and energy efficiency at a competitive price point. If you need a simple and reliable solution for connecting multiple devices, this switch is definitely worth considering.

I love the form factor of this small 8-port switch. The metal enclosure sure beats the old cheap plastic ones that d-link was using for a while. The only issue I had with it is, as others have mentioned, the wall mount screw slots are a non-standard size. I had to take a few screws and grind the head circumference to the point where they would fit in the slot. That seems like a terrible design choice. Other than that this is a perfect little switch. I’ve had no performance issues with it. I would recommend this switch.

I have a router that only has 2 ethernet ports on it so this was nice as it adds 8 ports. Only thing i wasnt expecting was that when u plug it into one of the two ports the other port becomes no longer able to use as it is only reading the new 8 ports. Which i beleive is fine but if u need more than 8 ports make sure u dont count the other ports on yiur router if that makes sense. Or check with service provider.
