We bought this because our office is on the opposite side of the house from the modem/router. It gives us enough internet to work but not game. I definitely recommend this to anyone looking for an inexpensive, temporary fix. Super easy to set up!

Have a wife who likes to rearrange the furniture in our home on a regular basis. Somehow, the desk or TV or something winds up on a different wall from the Ethernet jacks i installed. These work great to get Gigabit IP from our fiber drop thru our switch to the streaming devices.

I am very satisfied with this product. First I set it up with one device of the pair connected to my router in my living room (which is in the middle of the house on the upper story) and with the other device of the pair connected to an outlet in my garage (50 feet away), and connected to a laptop (by ethernet of course)
    – just as a test that the connection was working – and it was – the laptop accessed the network perfectly. In other words, the laptop got the same quality of performance from the garage thru the TP-link powerline ethernet devices as when the laptop is in the living room, 15 feet from the router, and connected wirelessly. Then I disconnected the laptop and connected the garage powerline device to some other devices (1) a security camera and 2) a router set up as a wireless extender (AP) for wireless cameras – and it still worked. (This was just a test to verify that I could set up a security camera system in the garage using this TP-link). I tested the wireless connection to the AP using my laptop (but this time wirelessly, of course). I also did
a wireless test from by iphone to the AP that ran thru the TP-link. I was skeptical about powerline ethernet because there are several machines plugged in along the garage electrical circuit: 2 refrigerators, and a freezer. And coming into the house there are also a washer and a dryer on the circuit. It did not seem to matter – it still worked OK. I was looking at video pictures on the laptop and from the NVR and I never noticed any interference. Later I moved the TP-link device from my garage to an outlet downstairs
in the family room (also near the center of the house, but downstairs from the central router) to connect a Roku (connected to a TV by HDMI). It still worked just fine. So I purchased 2 more TP-link power line adapters. One went to the garage permanently for a security camera. I did run into a problem: the camera showed up in my router list of attached devices with the same IP address as the Roku, but with a different MAC address. I do not think the problem was caused by the tp-link powerline device, but by the camera. The problem was resolved by bouncing the camera and telling it to reassign its IP address. The other new powerline device went into a remote bedroom with a weak wireless signal where it connected to a switch and the switch connected to a PC and printer. The only problem is that the printer goes to sleep and can’t be used again until you turn it off and back on. But that is a problem that it had before the TP link was added into the network so I guess it is a problem with the printer, not the network. I like getting away from too many wireless signals. It seems more secure, more reliable, and probably healthier.

Excellent product. Simple installation. Before installing my internet download speed was 1-2 mbps to my Roku device in my living room. .This slow download speed was causing frequent buffering of the programming making nearly impossible to watch. After installation of this device I’m achieving consistent 35mbps +/- connection speed which is more than sufficient for my needs. Very pleased. Highly recommend.

My house’s electrical is probably 50 years old in some parts. These were an easy alternative to drilling holes through the floors and walls to run ethernet. My gigabit internet transfers through at about 75mbps which is slower than the wifi, but my work requires a hardwire connection. The speed is totally based on how old my electrical is, no issues with the product itself. Fully plug and play, highly recommend

Does your Wi-Fi suck? Well let me endorse this product for you because truly, YEARS of fighting my wireless internet speeds have completely come to a halt. All 3 of my gaming devices are many rooms away from my router. The simple answer would be to move into that room but we all know it’s not just that simple in practice. I’ve been getting an inconsistent and erratic 20-40Mbps download and 3-4 Mbps upload for years. I play video games and upload YouTube videos frequently, and this is unbelievably frustrating to deal with. I’ve tried many things, Wi-Fi repeaters, moving my furniture desperately to try and get the best signal possible, all for nothing. Still inconsistent and slow. It wasn’t until I started working on an IT career that I found out these existed. I immediately bought this one along with a network switch to expand its single port to fit my PC, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch. It’s glorious. A solid 120Mbps Download and 6Mbps upload, a massive improvement. The upload speed is still meh, but considering I was getting half of that before it’s beautiful. I can finally reliably stream to my group of friends, upload videos much faster, and gaming is perfectly smooth. Do yourself a favor, don’t buy that game you want, maybe hold off on buying a new controller or computer component, and buy this instead. Stop putting up with terrible Wi-Fi. This is what you need.

I ordered these just to see if it was too good to be true. I’m very tech saavy, I know what causes issues with download speeds and how packets work on a network. I hooked one up to my router, and the other about 1 foot away behind my desktop tower and connected it via ethernet just to see what the best possible speeds could be and and it wasn’t good. Connected the adapter via ethernet less than a foot away from my desktop in a surge protector by itself, I got 15Mbps at best. 12Mbps at worse.

I then connected my router directly into my desktop and got 860Mbps at worse. 953Mbps at best.

I’m not claiming to know everyhting about newtorking/TPLink powerline adapters, jsut sharing my personal experience.

On a positive not, they are really easy to instlal. No software or weird actions to do. Just plug one into the router, then another where you need “better” connection performance. Will try again using a different port and if by some miracle I can get above 100Mmps I’ll update this review.
