I’m running Ubuntu 22.04 and I didn’t install a thing. Plug and play, no driver downloads necessary. This adapter is lovely!

I gave this unit four stars only because once you have the adapter installed, it does the job well that it is designed to do. What exactly is it designed to do? That is part of where the catch comes in. It says it “works on Linux” but really they should have said it works on Debian based distributions. Others, which are not officially supported, they also provided instructions for on the web. I had in mind that this adapter would work to aid me in installing distributions to try out (I do distro reviews on YouTube). The first one I installed it into was a Debian based system, and the instructions were pretty clear on how to do it, even if a bit outdated (no need to add “busybox” onto the command, unless you are installing it on an ancient system). But you run one command and it is installed.
That’s fine for existing systems, but you have to have a LAN connection until you get it installed. Especially if and when you install a new system. So I would literally have to install it every time I tried out a new distro on my computer, and I can’t do that without installing the distro first. On top of that, I could only install it on Debian based systems. When I followed the instructions for Arch Linux installation (it isn’t officially supported nor a tested install), it involved extracting the source code from the DEB file and compiling it. They gave pretty good instructions on how to go about it, though with one typo or mistake (‘sudo pacman -Sy’ will not install anything on your computer, it just updates the repositories. It should be ‘sudo pacman -S ‘). However, i encountered a driver error that I could do nothing to fix. So, “no Arch for me!” (says the Arch Nazi). At least on that computer. At least, not without using a temp LAN connection. Which I had hoped to get away from using.
So despite the good speed and all, there are two issues that Linux users need to be aware of:
1) This is not a “plug n play” adapter. If you plan on using this to install a distribution or two, or more, don’t buy this as you will not be able to use it to install anything since there is no way to install it until after you have installed the distro. This driver, as of today, cannot be found in any of the distribution repos.
2) This only has official support on Debian based distros such as Ubuntu and most any based on either Debian or Ubuntu, which probably covers somewhere around 55% of Linux users. Everyone else is lucky if it does install after using the instructions.
And I’ll throw in a 3) The “hidden” install instructions are in a PDF file on the mini-CD that comes with the unit, in the “Linux” directory. Why they don’t tell folks that on the paper instructions for Windows and Mac that come with it, is unknown. Especially when this unit is advertised as being specifically for Linux users. Yet, at first glance, as several have said in these reviews, there doesn’t appear to be any instructions for Linux.
So who would I recommend this wifi adapter to? I would recommend it to anyone who has a bit of ability with a terminal/command line (one line for Debian users), just click and paste (probably why they put the instructions into a PDF file) and hit enter, pretty easy actually. And anyone with a Debian system, who doesn’t plan on installing a bunch of systems, and who has access to a LAN Ethernet connection. If that description fits you, this is a great wifi adapter, look no further.
Just be aware, DO NOT expect the Linux kernel to see and install this adapter out of the box. Because, well, it just won’t do it. It’s not designed to do that.

The adapter came with instructions for linux debian distributions. I followed the easy copy/paste instructions and then rebooted the computer. This AC1200 model AC1L worked flawlessly. I tried on two linux computers with same software except one had 5.15 kernel and the other had 6.5 kernel. While the 6.5 kernel did not need a driver install, the speed was much improved after I followed the same drive install instructions as with the machine using the 5.15 kernel. If you are running linux then I highly recommend this product for an easy install that works without a bunch of drama.

Good value for the money. The installation for Windows was easy with the little CD they provided. For Linux, I had to first attach a LAN cable to get Internet access and then run the one shell command they provided in their included documentation.

En Windows 10, perfecto, lo detecta e instala drivers. Tambien viene con un cd por si lo haces asÃ, con un ejecutable.
En Linux, con Lmint 21.3 no lo reconocÃa con el kernel 5.15.
Le instale el mas actual el 6.5 que trae soporte para los periféricos mas actuales y…… Voila.. al momento lo detectó y a funcionar.
Sin comandos en terminal ni nada.
Aun asà te facilita servicio tecnico con correo y los que lo han usado hablan
bien de él.

I wouldn’t trash this product so hard if they didn’t have Linux compatible plastered all over their entry. So I buy this and when it comes it doesn’t even have a Linux driver for it. This sets up a nice conundrum, you need to go on the internet to get the driver from them. BUT, how can you go on the internet if the damn thing doesn’t work?
I guess the idea of these folks is that everybody uses laptops, but gee, I bought this for my DESKTOP! SO, I had to drag my desktop, all of it, down to where the router was to plug in with cat 5 to go on the internet to get the driver. AND, you couldn’t just download on a flash drive from another PC, you had to use the PC it was going to installed on. Insultingly, the device was shipped with CD but had only a Windows driver on it, why not include a Linux driver?
So my final shot is take the Linux advertising for this device as a joke.

My intel 8275/8275 is not very reliable with Linux – it just keeps vanishing sometimes. While I know how to fix that problem (draining bios cache), the real issue was of signal strength.
This product work out of the box, wasn’t expecting that but it does. The light on it is very unreliable but the device itself is fine. I mean it’s Realtek rtL88x2bu so it should work but I like the confidence of the manufacturer that it will work, and it does. A life saver.

J’avais besoin d’un clé opérationnelle Wifi dans la bande des 5GHz pour mon ordinateur fixe travaillant sous Linux Mint 22 (Ubuntu 24.04). Ce qui a été trompeur, c’est que la clé a directement été reconnue par le système sans avoir besoin d’installer de drivers. Cependant après 1 journée d’utilisation j’ai constaté de nombreuses déconnexions/reconnexions intempestives. J’ai alors suivi les préconisations du fabricant qui était jointe au produit et installé ses propres drivers. Cette opération est très simple à réaliser. Elle se fait en exécutant une simple ligne de commande dans un terminal.
Une fois le traitement réalisé, je n’ai plus constaté aucun problème.

It works with Ubuntu 24.04 out of the box, but you need to update the driver (follow instructions on their website) to achieve faster speed. In my case, the download speed was about 40 Mbps out of the box but increased to about 200 Mbps after updating the driver.
Update:
I did notice every once a while, the adapter would stop working and I had to unplug it and plug it back in. Luckily the adapter is on the front of my desktop computer and It takes a few seconds to do it, so not a big problem.
