Unit needs to be able to pickup the WIFI signal so if you place it where your phone/tablet etc cannot pick up the WIFI signal, this unit won’t pickup the WIFI either. It needs to be in between the main unit and the area where you need a stronger signal.

the speeds were really slow and the extender didn’t have an ios app for setup, which made setting up a pain as it would redirect you through safari to a web interface that was sluggish and prone to crashing. overall the experience was poor for setup. not to mention that the speeds for the extender were not as advertised, even if you set it up near the router. i would not recommend buying this product. it may have been enough when it was first manufactured about 7-8 years ago. but with the internet needs of the 20s i would not recommend this product unfortunately.

This extender has better range than the one without external antennas. However, I have to cycle power occasionally, as it inexplicable starts to have connection issues. This is the third one I have tried. One defective was new. So, its definitely a hit or miss with these products.

Bought a wifi extender that was on sale really cheap because it had been returned to Amazon. Item info said it had been tested by Amazon and confirmed to work. Tried it and so far so good. Easy to install and works well.

These didn’t work for us. Supposed to be plug in and easy set up but it couldn’t pick up the wi fi signal at all. Called tech support at Net Gear and they couldn’t get it to work either.Returned and looking for another solution.

Apparently there was a dead zone in the house.
Once I added another device onto the existing router, my cell’s signal randomly dropped.
Even though the pkg was delivered past the promised date, they stayed in communication with me and offered an apology.

I purchased the renewed NetGear EX6120 range extender / access point to provide wired network connectivity to an IOGear print server that was connected via USB to an older HP Laserjet 1320 printer. The range extender worked perfectly, and really looked brand new. I’ve configured the AP in Fastlane technology mode. This uses the 5ghz channel to act as a backhaul to the router. Only the 2.4ghz channel is used for the SSID. The setup works well, with everyone in the office able to now use a laser printer. We just configure the client port in the LPR mode.
