This is the second set I bought for another house. They’re easy to install and catch the main wifi perfectly, boosting it throughout the house. There are alerts when there are issues so you can troubleshoot (which is quite easy). The App is great, mostly because I can rename the devices connected to the mesh network so I can see what’s joined. Highly recommend this product.

Total POS. Two defective units, out of the box. TP-Link customer service is terrible.

This is the second set I purchased. I could not get the first set working. I finally contacted TP-Link customer service. After an hour, they got frustrated and hung up.

Giving the benefit of the doubt (no matter how small, there are always some percentage of defective items) I purchased another set. Still could not get it working.

The reason I really wanted this to work is the TP-Link x20 Deco my son bought me is a dream. It took me fifteen minute to set up all three units (including opening the package and reading the instructions). I used to swear by TP-Link. Including their mesh units. The mesh units are trash. Maybe their other comm gear is still good. Who knows?

My background: I have been involved in IT since the ’90s. I certainly do not consider myself beyond learning new things. But my skills are certainly on the level of a novice End User (the target customer for this device). Do yourself a favor, look elsewhere for a home mesh unit.

I installed the router in 4400 sq ft two story home, wifi signal is very strong in all areas of the house and setup was easy.

These are very simple to setup. Download the app and let it do the work. I am not sure what these other reviews are talking about when they mention difficult setup. Even the least tech savvy folks can do it. Download the app, follow the steps and you’re there. Great speeds. Will handle your fiber top speeds. These are in a 3000 sqft, 2 story home and work great. Could easily use just two and would be fine.

Bought this set for our house after dealing with crappy Xfinity pods for a few years.

The wifi coverage, quality and speed are fantastic. Was getting 300 MBit/s Speedtest scores in a room where I struggled to stay connected with the Xfinity pods. Setting up the second and third access points was effortless. Just plugged them in and they meshed to the network.

The only reason I can’t give this 5 stars is that their app and the setup instructions it provides are not good. The app tells you to power-cycle your cable modem, which is stupid and completely unnecessary. Then it couldn’t get the first access point to accept the wifi network configuration, so it kept telling me to reset the access point and start over. In reality, all I needed to do was kill the Deco app and restart it. Everything was fine after that. The instructions can also be very confusing as to when they’re talking about the wifi access point and when they’re talking about the cable modem. Lastly, the network diagnostics provided by the Deco app (connected devices, etc.) are not great.

Improve your app and this could be a 5-star product.

Overall very satisfied with the AXE-5300 bundle which is a package of 3 Deco XE-75’s with a very minor change to the top plate appearance. My understanding is it’s a cosmetic change only for whatever reason and this 3 pack is then sold through different channels. As a result I’m blanketing my house with these 3 and a single XE-75 for about the same cost most of the competing products with these capabilities would provide 1 or 2 units for.

    PRO’s:
    PRICE! – at $116/unit in the 3 pack bundle I don’t think there’s anything that comes close with a 6e capable tri-band.
Performance – it’s quick, with the 160Mhz 5 and 6 bands available I’m consistently getting excellent wireless connection speeds >1200Mbps for any newer devices.
Ease of use – the configuration was quick and simple to provision a 4 node mesh (see CONS below)
Wired backhaul – running all 4 through a $25 dedicated TPLink switch that they picked up and started using automatically so all 3 wifi bands are servicing clients exclusively with a reliable Gig-E backbone.

    CONS
Ease of use – the software is simple, VERY simple. Not a lot of configuration options and the management tools are ok.
Wifi Backhaul – a Wifi only configuration would be more challenging as you only have single 2×2 2.4, 5, and 6 Ghz bands to play with. Draining the single 5ghz would cut into performance for most clients significantly and 6Ghz is too limited in range and line of sight to be reliable in most applications. Get far enough away and a 2.4 backhaul is going to really cripple performance on any device.

For the purpose, knowing the limitations, these are performing excellently for me so far especially at the price point. The software is a little frustrating if you’re used to the capabilities of some of the competing alternatives but it’s functional. Luckily I have my house pre-wired for Cat 5e and as a result I was able to place 4 of these to provide excellent coverage across 2 floors and the basement in many cases giving me 5-10x the wireless connection speeds I was seeing with a single older wifi 6 router.

    Went in knowing that the

After a year of struggling with Google Nest and constant rebooting of the network after slow performance, I got a recommendation on the TP-Link Deco Wi-Fi System. The system sets up easily with a great app. And it just WORKS!! Rock solid stability and performance for several months now.

No more screaming from the wife about the network dropping out. No more complaints from the 16 year old daughter about not being able to do her “homework” (when she’s actually on social media). The system works period and has brought peace to the homefront. Ditch your nest and get something that works.
