The device works as expected, providing good quality conference call capabilities for smaller rooms. We’ve heard no complaints from parties on the other end, and we’ve experienced no issues with the set. It misses out on 5-stars due to the volume of the speaker (and microphone capability) not being enough to project into a mid-to-large classroom or meeting room, but it fits the bill for us quite well. We would have no qualms about buying another one if need be.

We did a conference call with 12 people sitting along a rectangle table and this in the middle, the people at the other end could not hear anyone on my side if they were more than 6′ away from this phone. I actually had to have people get up and change chairs in order to talk to the person on the other end.

The range on this phone is supposed to be three times what we were able to get, and that was with males that have good voice projection, not whispering kids, if anyone is wondering if it was a fair trial.

Definitely would not recommend it to anyone who’s meeting table is longer than 8′!

I really wanted to give this product a higher rating, but ultimately it did not fit my specific needs, and given the high price tag I decided to return. I have a very small home office–with likely pretty poor acoustics–and the my voice quality just didn’t sound great on this unless I was right up against one of the three built-in microphones. My main goal was for a product with crystal clear audio for giving remote presentations…and, sadly, this didn’t sound quite as good to people on the other end as a significantly cheaper Vtech handset with speakerphone capability…unless I was right on top of it…which is awkward to do with this model. On the plus side, the speaker quality and sound was excellent when I was listening to others, with excellent volume; and the included port for another phone line was a nice touch. This is probably an outstanding option if you really need to have multiple speakers in the same room…or are typically listening in on conference calls (and only occasionally interacting). But, if you are frequently talking, and crystal clear audio pick-up on the microphone is your primary concern (which was mine), then it would be very hard to justify the cost versus a much cheaper handset speakerphone which might only run $30-$50…and, ultimately, a headset is probably the way to go.

This review is for Rev D, which is what I received. The speakerphone has very good sound quality, and I would rate the speakerphone capability as four or five stars. There was a “marketing” sticker pasted above the model number labeled “No Cell Phone Buzz.” (It does not appear in the product photo or is mentioned in the description.) I interpreted that as it was immune to the irritating buzzing sound picked up by speakers from cell phones due to radio interference.

Overall I gave it two stars because the speaker makes a hiss when the unit is off. I have a very quiet home office and the placement of the unit is in relative close proximity to me; I found the continuous hiss annoying and returned the unit. (Amazon makes returns very easy.) I am going to try the Voicestation 500. The hiss has been noted by other reviewers so it was not particular to my unit. If you are several feet away from the unit or are in a louder setting, you will probably not hear the hiss.

Jan 16, 2010 Update: Voicestation 500 speaker also makes a hiss when unit is off.

The voicestation 300 is a great product. The voice quality is excellent. I play guitar and a good friend of mine I played in a band with is over 2hr. drive away. Right now there is snow and ice on the ground. No way I’m driving anywhere in this. We tried to use regular speaker phones but they did not have enough volume and clipped on us pretty bad (Overpowered by all the sound. So we tried conference speaker phones and ordered the voice station 300. It works very well even for this application (Guitar practice). We also did a call to Florida over the holidays with a room full of guests to my wifes sister. You would have thought she was in the same room with us. I liked the voice station 300 so well I ordered the desk speaker phone Soundpoint Pro SE-220 for my office. I can work my computer and talk clearly to my customers while taking their orders. Polycom has some excellent products.

Very nice product. Read the description carefully and make sure this is what you are looking for – in my case it works great. You have to pay a little more for Polycom vs other brands but it is worth it. The sound is so clear on this unit it is amazing, the microphone sensitivity is excellent, and the people I am speaking to tell me that the sound quality on the other end is great too.

I use this for my home office. The one feature I would like to have is auto-dial but it is not available on this model, so if you want auto-dial capability get another model, but this model does exactly what it says it will do and it works great.

I’ve been told that the audio from my end is great – in fact, better than my RCA office phone. Audio from the top speaker can be made quite loud too so incoming audio is brilliant.

Great conference room phone. We got it for our conference room at work and it works very well. We can hear the callers very well and very clearly and they have told us they can as well. Our phone tech company tried to sell us this phone for $300 more than it costs on Amazon. So glad we shopped around! Great deal and great phone!
