This product is working well for us. I am using Canola oil to oil it after each time I empty the basket. I had a small bottle from another shredder that we did not oil, until it was too late. The Fellowes Shredder works well, it will chop up credit cards and paper easily. However, I decided to not do more than 3 pages at a time. It does the job for us. Delivery was on time, as promised.

My previous Fellows shredder had one switch that would feed the paper forward and backwards and stop. This one has the same switch but also has an actual power switch that is not located on top of the unit.
The documentation is improved.
It explains lubricating the unit and how often.
There are two indicators that inform you on the status of the shredder, GREEN – the shredder can be used, RED – the shredder needs to cool down.
If your fingers get too close to the paper opening the shredder stops.

Well this is the second one i bought. I needed to get another one because i made a mistake. This machine works great and totally shreds, even credit cards. But not all credit cards. You see ,we canceled a card for mysterious charges, and the in the statement that came with the new card, it said, “don’t put the old card in a shredder because it may damage it.” I thought our shredder would eat it up like it had done, with others, in the past. Well it jammed up. I took it all apart cleaned it out and put it back together. It did not work and i deemed it completely destroyed. It eats cards, but not ones with chips. This shredder does not eat chips. The good news is the first purchase with the new card was this new shredder. I’m calling it my friend chip. Chip shreds but not chips. I guess you are not what you eat. This is a good buy. Good by. Duane (not the rock) Update.. After explaining what happned,and plead my case, Fellowes offered to replace the shredder. Super good customer service even if it was my fault.

I recently purchased this paper shredder, and I couldn’t be happier with my purchase. It’s a fantastic value for the price, and it offers a clean and modern design that fits well in any office space.
One of the standout features for me is the auto-detect function. It’s incredibly useful and saves time. I no longer need to worry about manually feeding paper into the shredder; it does the job for me. This feature alone has made my document disposal process much more efficient.
But what truly sets this shredder apart is the way it cuts paper into small pieces. Unlike the old long strip shredders, this one creates confetti-like particles, ensuring that my sensitive documents are securely destroyed. I appreciate the added level of security this shredder provides.

The SafeSense technology works well and stops the shredder very quickly. The opening is small enough that there’s no way my 3 year old could get his fingers inside and the it slants downward so it would be difficult to not hit the stop sensor even if you were trying. It seems very unlikely that the accidental stray finger or dog tongue could make its way down to the active blades.
There is an automatic shut off button on the bottom of the lid that fits into place over a protruding piece of plastic that cuts power if the lid is removed (or if you try to use the lid with a different waste basket). The opening to depress the button is a little larger than half the width of a pencil, so it would probably be difficult for a child to keep it pressed.
This is the first shredder I’ve owned, so I don’t have any context to how it compares to other shredders, but I haven’t had a problem with credit cards (1 at a time) or with sending unopened junk mail through it.

We absolutely love this shredder. As of September 2016 we’ve been using it for almost a year and haven’t had any problems with it. We love the child safety features – there are two power switches as well as a sensor around the opening that will turn it off if it senses a hand nearby. This gives us great peace of mind since we have a young daughter in our house. It also shreds credit cards (and other similar items) with ease and doesn’t get jammed easily which we really appreciate since our old shredder seemed to constantly jam.
The one downside we have found is the bin is not quite large enough for our liking. We tend to wait and shred a large amount of papers at once and the bin fills up quickly. However, this is not really a major issue at all, it can just be annoying if you are doing a lot of shredding at once. It also cuts the paper into rectangles instead of diamonds which is just something to be aware of because you could potentially still see information on the paper depending on how you insert it into the shredder.
Overall though we are very happy with our purchase and would recommed this to anyone looking for a reasonably priced shredder that is also safe and works well.

This shredder does an EXCELLENT job for an excellent price (compare prices at Staples and Office Depot) and I can happily give it the highest recommendation! We’ve owned it for over a month now and it’s done an excellent job of shredding 5 LARGE bags of shred over a few days with no issues. The unit jammed a couple of times (not its fault) and clearing it was a relatively easy process. We only hit the cool down period a couple of times and each time we did, the 20-minute period was accurate (give or take a few minutes). The unit’s master power switch in the back is easily reached and makes for an additional safety feature that’s appreciated in our home. Even without that switch, though, the unit’s paper slot is thin enough to give a good measure of protection from the accidental finger slip and it has an auto-sensing feature for even that. Again, this one comes highly recommended and we’d buy it, again.

This shredder was a real disappointment and I had to return it. The first time I used it, it worked just fine. I didn’t care for the slot that you stick the paper in, because it’s very narrow and you have to get the paper lined up just right in order to feed it in, but I was willing to live with that. However, two days later, I tried to use it again, and the “Safe Sense” light was permanently on and would not go off no matter what I tried. When the Safe Sense light is on, the shredder will not operate at all. I emailed Fellowes support and they just said to try moving the shredder to a different location, as the Safe Sense light is sensitive to heat variations because it senses heat and thinks it’s your hand, so it turns off for safety. But moving it to a different location didn’t help. It would not operate at all, and it was very frustrating. So I returned it and purchased an Ativa brand shredder at Office Depot, which I am very happy with, not only because there is no Safe Sense feature to malfunction, but also because the paper slot isn’t as narrow as the Fellowes’ paper slot was, and therefore it’s much easier to stick the paper into.

Arrived well packaged on time. The 60CS is a newer version of my old 58CS. better made, quieter and does well. run for 5 minutes and let rest for 20. Note: be sure to get the shredder oil and lube per instructions at each use.
