TIBURN Presentation Clicker With Spotlighting Features

I very nearly wrote a review saying the required USB C receiver was missing because there is no photo of its storage location in the product description or manual. It is finally depicted towards the end of the video.

The receiver is hidden in the pen, furthest from the tip. There is a small protrusion which you can catch on a finger nail and pull it out. It is well disguised.

The small USB device in the package is merely a USB A to C adapter, but it could be confused as the receiver. I wonder if this is why other reviewers said theirs was incomplete and used. My box also looked crushed, like it had been handled roughly. However, the device and accessories looked fine and it did function.

It does not include any laser. “digital laser” is listed as a feature in product description photos and manual.
I also did not see any infrared features on the device despite their description “Infrared Screen Stylus”

The website for driver download, which becomes persistent at boot, is NOT secure. It does not use HTTPS and I believe that is why it is not included as a link from the product page. To bypass automated Amazon checks. This seems very sketchy. The link for this product page at the manufacturers website, and the secondary insecure link for the driver listed in the manual does not resolve to an IP address.

This is very sketchy.

A few basic features of the device do work by installing the receiver dongle without installing the software. The dongle is enumerated as “Smart RF Mic Receiver” in name, but HID keyboard type. I was unable to make use of any mic function. Pressing the mic button only changes the speaker volume of the connected computer when you tilt the pen. With insecure software present at boot, this device could easily become a remote exploit/spy device.

buttons do indeed cycle through presentation decks. The air mouse does move the cursor, and button does function as a left click, however, it sometimes produces Ctrl+ A randomly in text windows that do not have focus instead. That selects all text. For what purpose? Super sketchy.

I spend a lot of time in front of groups and Presentations work much easier with a remote control. I keep an assortment in my laptop bag.

This is more than just a tool to advance PowerPoint slides, however. It can serve as a remote mouse, but clicking the right button and waving it around it can move a cursor around the screen. There are several options in how you use it, from a digital “Laser” pointer (not actually a laser – it puts a bright spot on the screen through the computer). You can control the computer right through the clicker.

Setup can’t be much easier, pull the USB C plug out of the end of the device and plug it into your Windows laptop. If you had a USB A input, there is an adaptor included with the tool. If you use a Mac, you’ll need to download some software. I tried using the Windows version, but it wouldn’t install correctly and didn’t work.

One thing that concerns me is that it is rechargeable instead of using traditional batteries. Whiles this can be an advantage, I’ve had my remote battery die before, and at last with a traditional one, you can keep spare batteries with your kit. So far it does hold a charge pretty well, so this might be a non-issue.

On the negative side, the directions are really hared to understand and printed on a little piece of paper with tiny little print. This is not uncommon in today’s world, but it stinks. I had a lot of trouble figuring out how to use it until I found a couple YouTube videos about it and that made it usable. I still can’t use all the functionality of it, it is not very intuitive. For that reason I can’t give it “5 Stars”. It is built well and priced reasonably, however.

Works okay. Not really intuitive. The pointer is difficult to stay on the screen.

This is very versatile and has a lot of features that you wouldn’t expect in such a small device. The included adapter is easy to use and install and I love that it stores in the top of the pen for storage. The driver is easy to download and install and is required to use the pen.

The air mouse takes a minute to get used to but is really effective once you have it down. It did find it necessary to reset the point by moving far left or far right since it’s easy to get it out sync.

There are a number of buttons that are useful for scrolling and pointing. I will enjoy having a device that takes less space in my bag. Charges with a USB C connection and last a good bit after the charge.
