I followed instructions in the user manual to get the paper loaded (super easy) and figure out what some of the switches are used for. The size of the keys and the print out is excellent. My mother will be using it and she’s really happy about the large print feature.

It does have a battery in it (one of those disk types, not an A battery as something said in the description). Not sure what that’s for as it does need to be plugged in.

I have been setting up a new home office and wanted to get the same kind of adding machine I had at work, a standard printing adding machine. My old one had auto power off and a “000” button, both features I appreciated. I bought one, the unit randomly stopped working from time to time (hitting the reset button on the back fixed it), and the replacement had the “+” key stick after a few weeks. I decided to try a Victor unit, having had one in the past, and the large print aspect of this one appealed to me. I wasn’t crazy about the thermal paper, but I like the idea that it’s quiet and fast, so I gave it a try.

A few weeks later, I am hooked and have replaced my office adding machine with the same model. I like the larger printout, and 10 digits is usually enough for what I do. On the few occasions I’ve needed more digits, I’ve just flipped the “10/12” switch and presto! A 12 digit calculator with normal sized printout.

I like the thermal printout as well. I was concerned in not having negative numbers print in red – the display turns red, but thermal paper only prints in one color. The solution from Victor is that negative numbers print in bold, which is distinctive enough for my uses. Meanwhile, the printout is crisp and clear and doesn’t fade as the ribbon degrades. You can write on the paper or hit it with a highlighter without any issue, or at least you can with the various (inexpensive) thermal papers I have tried.

I like the time and date feature, although there’s a typo in the manual – you hit the “#/S” key to print the time or date after calling them up. Other than that, it’s a pretty standard adding machine that does the job and does it well. Highly recommended.

I like everything about it except the included paper roll is just a starter. Would be nice to have included a larger paper roll as it is difficult to find the thermal paper for calculator. I had to order separately from Amazon.

Customer Service is excellent as I had to call them because calculator was not working correctly. She had me push reset button by the battery on the bottom of product
    and that solved the problem.
I asked 2 other questions, received answers and that was that.
Product is easy to use. It’s lightweight. The keys are large and easily readable. Though I will probably never use some of the functions, this large print calculator is perfect for my use. While speaking to customer service I had product on my lap. It’s design is very stable and worked beautifully from my lap. Can’t speak to battery life as I received product yesterday & turned on today.
I’m pleased with this product and customer service help.

i like that this Victor Big Print 1210 operates like any other adding machine I’ve used for the past few decades. Plus, now being 80, I appreciate the large bright display and a choice of standard or large print on the tape.
This machine is a bit smaller than my old Sharp adding machine (a best seller here at Amazon). The display is easy to see and read, based on facing a PC at a 12 o’clock position (as I am typing this review) and the adding machine is at my 2 o’clock position. It would still be clear at the 3 o’clock position. To see any distortion of the display numbers I have to tilt my body so I am viewing at a 45 degree angle, off center. In my opinion this is quite typical for this type of display. This is my first thermal paper machine, but I am becoming a fan after years of ink ribbons/cartridges quickly becoming too faint to read the numbers on the print out. I find it frustrating if I cannot audit my work via the tape. That is why I bought a printing adding machine. Now, the thermal print out is clear and will remain so because it is not dependent upon ink. I am getting use to not having the color “red” for negative numbers, but this Victor will print the negative numbers in bold type and add a minus sign to the right of the number. The switch to turn it on is a little stiff (and cheap feeling), but it works. I can live with that. The button arrangement is virtually the same as any other adding machine i’ve used, so there is no learning curve involved. I did buy extra rolls of thermal paper. The printer comes with one, which is nice, but I could see needing another roll soon. I would definitely buy this Victor Big Print 1310 adding machine again.

Pros: The Victor 1310 was packaged very well for shipping. Clear instruction manual correctly phrased in English language plus three other languages. Made in Malaysia, Distributed by Victor Technology, Bolingbrook, IL. Digital display is easily read. BIG Print function is GREAT. Thermal paper is comparable in price to non-thermal and you save by not having to stock and replace ink cartridges (My spares always dried up before I could use them). The machine itself has a sturdy, well built feel to it. Keys are raised enough that you get a positive feel that you’ve successfully tapped a key. Functions are in the usual places as compared to other machines. Of particular note is I was pleasantly surprised that although the printer functions by use of thermal paper, after numerous entries I could not detect any heat build up anywhere on the machine. The instructions do, however, warn not to place the running machine in a tightly enclosed location.
Cons: The Victor 1310’s digital display remains lit at all times that machine’s power switch is on. This machine does not have a sleep mode it switches to after it remains idle. As noted by others, because of the type of display used in this machine, you can see the faintest “ghost” of the various words and numerals but only if you look at the screen from an angle, or have it sitting in the darker area of your desk. Oh, and Made in Malaysia, although Distributed by Victor Technology, Bolingbrook, IL.
