Brother states on their web page that the QL800 can import contacts from Microsoft Office Outlook. But only after you try to use their P-Touch software for managing contacts, do you find under the Help menue that the QL800 ONLY works with much earlier versions of Outlook (2000, 2002, 2003 versions of Outlook). It absolutely does NOT work with my MS Office 2021 Outlook. You can see in the attached photo where I have copied the statements made by Brother in their web page and Help sections of P-Touch. I am returning this label printer todat 6/12/24

This is the second Brothers label maker I have owned. The first one I purchased lasted for several years and I donated it to the GoodWill store. I then purchased the newer model and it works great with no problems. One word of caution is to use only Brothers’ labels because they adhere a whole lot better than the 3rd party labels. You buy cheap labels and you get cheap labels that will peel off by themselves after a few days.

Der QL800 hat meinen alten QL500 nach etwa 4 Jahren abgelöst. Ich hatte auch schon vorher LabelPrinter von Zebra in Einsatz. Das Preis / Leistungsverhältnis ist hier aber Super und die Langlebigkeit des Vorgängermodels hat alle Erwartungen und Erfahrungen übertroffen.
Bei dem QL800 erkennt man die Verbesserung des Gerätes selber direkt. Wobei die Druckgeschwindigkeit sich nur minimal verbessert hat, dafür aber ist aber das Handling und die Druckqualität merkbar gestiegen.

As of this writing (Dec 15, 2019), QL-800 is absolutely great for other types of labels, but does NOT work with Etsy shipping labels (official Brother help videos state it does print labels from Ebay). Once you create your Etsy postage shipping label, Etsy automatically formats it into a PDF for you to download and print. Even if you are good with image editing software, if you manage to get it to print on a QL-800 continuous label paper (as I did), the label is too small to read–particularly the US Postage barcode in the upper right-hand corner. Sadly, I must return this, and buy a larger label printer.
As a label printer, the quality is sharp, and the printing is speedy. It was easy to set up the drivers and software. I have no complaints with the device itself.
Other Notes: Windows 10 has TWO different areas where you need to change the preferences in order to print different-sized labels. Be sure to change your “Printer Default” to the correct paper size as well as within the “Printer Preferences.” Took me an hour of wondering why it still would appear “offline” after changing the defaults… until I finally clicked on “preferences,” and noticed that hadn’t automatically changed when I adjusted the “default” settings. Whatever…
ALSO: purchasing this QL-800 does NOT come with the black-only continuous label (DK-2205) that you need for printing shipping labels. You must purchase that separately. It does come with a sample-length of Standard Address labels (DK-1201), and a sample-length of black/red wide tape (DK-2251).

I bought this to label items to rake to the nursing home where my mother was. Sadly, she did not make it to truly use it for that purpose. Since then, I have used this to label jars of canned goods. I love the fact that I do not have to use whole sheets of labels for 4 or 5 labels yet can do a dozen or more just as easily. The software is fairly easy and can create labels on the fly.

This little desktop unit is an effective, easy-to-use means of generating mailing labels that replaced the use of my laser printer and sheets Avery labels… for single labels as well as bulk mailings of 100-200 items. It works as described by the manufacturer and has been completely trouble-free. The flexibility to print one label or a batch of labels makes it a perfect solution for my needs.

I was tired of printing misaligned address label sheets using my laser printer – sure they are cheap and use equipment that I’ve already got, but you know what? The alignment issues were driving me more than a little crazy.
Since I keep track of a large number of items using an Excel spreadsheet, I was looking for a labeling solution which would allow me to print “one-off” labels (without having to manage a partially used label sheet) or entire batches of labels. Using the ptouch software, I am able to pull the exact data fields that I want from a spreadsheet and put them on my label where and how I want. Even more cool is the ability to concatenate a number of cells into a “super string” and then print that portion as a barcode (QR code for example). Awesome!
If you are even remotely on the spectrum or are just very particular about how you organize things, you will no doubt fall in love with this printer as I have.

From reading some of the reviews, I was under the impression that it could print the regular USPS 4″x6″ labels, however, it does not. Rather it prints labels with the maximum width of 2.4″x(desired length). Make sure if you are purchasing this printer that your source from which you purchase your shipping labels (Paypal, eBay, Shopify, etc.) allows you to change the size in which you print your labels. The printer requires the shipping label setting to be set to 2.3″x7.5″ for USPS shipping labels. I have not tried using it to print FedEx or UPS labels, but I imagine it is similar to USPS labels. It is possible to print the larger style label, but what this printer will do is print the different parts of the label on separate strips, then you have to cut and piece it together like a puzzle, which in my opinion would be a nightmare being that if you mess up in aligning the label which is a sticker, then you would have to print and start all over. So the 2.3″x7.5″ label is the way to go. Keep in mind, if the package you are shipping is not long enough to accommodate the 7.5″ long label then you will need to either cut the label and make it fit or just purchase a different label maker entirely. Overall, this printer is well made and does the job.
