I recently picked up this Brother P-Touch Label Maker, PTH110 to help me keep track of electronic components while I’m prototyping or running experiments. I’ve always struggled with reading those resistor color codes, and squinting at the text on transistors just wasn’t cutting it anymore. Slapping on a label turned out to be the perfect fix, especially when everything’s spread out on my desk or on the breadboard.

I went for this model thinking my needs were pretty basic, was I surprised! This little gadget has become my go-to for way more than I initially thought. It’s super user-friendly, although a tad bulkier than I expected. Honestly, though, that’s hardly a bother.

Here’s what I love about it:

It’s budget-friendly. It doesn’t break the bank and still falls on the affordable side compared to other label makers.
The labels are laminated, making them super durable. I’ve found that the label quality really depends on the label brand you use, but that’s no biggie.
The print resolution and font variety are just spot-on for what I need.
It handles 6mm labels perfectly, which is great for the smaller stuff I’m working with.

    A few hiccups:

Using the 6mm label tape can be tricky if you’re not working on a flat surface. It tends to jam, which means I have to keep it on my desk while printing. Not a huge issue, but worth mentioning.
It runs on 6 AAA batteries. I haven’t had to change them yet, but I’m keeping an eye on how often I’ll need to. Might look into getting some rechargeable ones.
It didn’t come with batteries or a wall adapter, so be ready to pick those up separately. I did find it odd that Brother’s own adapter has reversed polarity, which seems like a ploy to get you to buy theirs. Any 9V DC adapter with at least 1A should work, as long as you watch the polarity.
It does leave a bit of extra tape at the beginning and end of each label, which feels wasteful.

Even though it might seem like there are quite a few cons, I genuinely like this label maker and would buy it again. I’m sharing these details to give you the full picture of my experience, hoping it helps you make a more informed decision.

I have owned this label maker for over a year and half. Problem is I left my old one at a customer site and I don’t remember what customer it was. So I ordered a look alike label maker for the cost savings. I am returning it. I received this Brother product today it came with 6 cartridges. Slapped 6 AAA battery’s in it and off I went. It works like a champ. The only petpeve I have is it could save label tape, its is a bit of a hog using the tape. IMO.

I have always hand written or printed from my computer labels and thought “what do I need another gadget for”. I was wrong. I needed this. Wish I had bought it years ago.
Bought it because we were doing a garage clean out and a friend insisted I try theirs. I did one cabinet of stuff (of 5) and returned it to my friend… mine came the next day.
Now I understand the obsession. My garage, home office, and classroom are done and I am seeking more things to label.
Different color labels for color coding, clear print, easy to use, easy to bring anywhere, and haven’t had to change the batteries yet.

These are the best label makers. I hate the Chinese Bluetooth ones. These have a high-end commercial feeling. Quality is high, love all the features that even the more expensive models lack, easy to carry, print quality is great as long as you use high quality tape.

Simple, easy, and nice prints. The margins are a pain in the butt, but I can live with it.

I think this product is so cool! Easy to use, makes very nice looking labels which seem to stay in place when applied. If you are lazy and not one of those “instruction readers” kind of people, you can just use the thing with the default settings so you do not necessarily need to read about all of the various menu options. However there are a lot of menu options and choices for people who really get in to learning all of the ins-and-outs of the gadgets that they buy. Thinks like setting the Margin to “Narrow” so note waste so much tape every time you print a label, etc. It’s so fun to use, you find yourself walking around the house just looking for things to put labels on!! It feels sturdy and very well made, am very happy with this purchase.
