We ordered this because we have a lack of storage issue in our home. It is wonderful. We have all our long term storage furniture/baby items up there. It holds A LOT. Currently is holding: a headboard, two nightstands, bassinet, bassinet stand, bins of baby clothes, Christmas tree

I’m used to putting things together but this took me way longer than I thought it would take to install. In part because my ceiling is 10 ft high and my garage was crowded so it took a while to move the ladder around and get into safe positions to install the ceiling brackets. Even so expect this to take a few hours even with a clear garage unless you’re super fast at putting things together.
That being said the build quality is very good and the instructions are clear and all the parts fit together. So the product itself is definitely five stars but installing it is a pain in the butt and you definitely want to have a second person help you lift the final 4 ft by 8 ft grid into place.

This is a very good unit for the price. I just wish the support arms were a little thicker – when I’m pulling/putting things on the shelf I’m worried by the amount of sway.
In my opinion, after doing this installation, anyone who breaks the lag bolts during installation doesn’t know how to drill a pilot hole and drive home a screw. That was a concern based on other reviews, but the screws are better quality than expected.
The installation instructions were a little vague, but the storage capacity is as expected and the unit pieces were fairly easy to assemble.
Our issue was that we wanted to run the supports in the same direction as the joists, which is why I used 2×6 boards – it did not help that our joists were not 24″ apart, and also ran crooked in respect to the parallel wall.
Overall happy, and the customer support was oustanding – they did not pack the hooks in the unit I received, but I emailed the seller and had a separate shipment sent to me within 4 days.

The Fleximount overhead storage is pretty good! Installation isn’t hard at all! The tricky part is figuring out where you’re going to mount it!! Seriously, think this step through before buying! Make marks on your ceiling and measure out where it’s going to go, that’s a decent first step. More important second step, figure out if your ceiling joists line up with that plan!!! Mine did not, I had to adjust my plan when I was ready to install. And of course things wouldn’t line up perfectly for me to make the last minute adjustment work easier. Once you have your joists located and your layout planned, the install is actually really darn easy! One gripe I had was that the instructions don’t tell you sizes on any of the bolts. So if you’re okay eyeballing a pilot hole drill bit and the socket bit then you’ll be fine (metric 13 or 1/2” bit FYI!). This isn’t that challenging on the socket bit, but make sure you’re going smaller on the pilot hole without going too small! This is really an area Fleximount could improve. Though, they do send a manual tool for you to improvise together… it sucks too!
Last bit of advice; make sure you have a buddy or two when you’re ready to lift the panels up to hang them. The metal is very flexible and it will completely bend and potentially break the bolts holding the panels together without center support. It took three of us to hang the panels without stressing the whole structure in the center and causing it to buckle. This might make you feel uncomfortable with how “flimsy” it might feel. But the flexibility of the metal isn’t a bad thing and it keeps overall weight down allowing you to store more of your junk up there! It isn’t bad, just be prepared and plan accordingly for it. Have hands in the center when you go to lift.
Big plus, if you got your measurements just a hair off, the ceiling brackets can easily be loosened and shifted even with the whole thing assembled and mounted on the ceiling. I noticed I got mine a smidge off on one side (by 1/2”!) and it caused the whole thing to cant in that direction. It probably would have been fine but it bothered me. So I loosened the ceiling brackets and tapped it over. It was then level and perfectly inline, 90 degree angles. It is very forgiving for little mistakes. As long as you’re anchored to the joists… everything should be fine!

I have it mounted just above the garage door on the right side of the garage door opener so it utilizes that never-used space in the garage and I plan to get another one for the left side here soon.
I store everything up in it, it is amazing how much space is saved on my garage floor by having it all up there. Oh, and when my garage door is open, not a soul from the street can see any part of it, it is completely hidden, my garage simply looks clean and organized; all of my friends are envious when they see it!
What’s so cool is that if there is anything I need from up there I can simply look up from below and see exactly where it is, grab the ladder and have it down in minutes.

tI took a little thought and energy to install, I am a 57 year old man with heart conditions and I installed it and loaded it all alone, it really wasn’t that difficult!

Easy to install. Just took awhile to install – mainly finding and measuring between studs. Don’t put too close to the wall. It makes it difficult to screw in the hanging brackets if you don’t leave at least 3” from the wall. I left 2” and it was doable but difficult.
