Govee Outdoor Projector Light, Laser And Aurora

I bought this when there were 0 reviews, so it was a bit of a gamble, but now that there are a few preliminary reviews in I think peolle are a little too harsh on this product. This is a great projector, albeit expensive.

1st, the build quality is great. The projector box itself is quite a bit bigger than you’d expect. The bottom mounting plate option is made of nice solid metal. It’s too bad the rest of the mount / stake option are plastic. But nonetheless it feels like a very substantial unit, something I am positive the models on Amazon thay are half the price are not. Many reviews on those suggest they can barely last a season.

2nd, I agree that the red laser is dim, but the rest (blue and green) are great.

I mounted my unit about 10 feet up in a tree using guy wire and a black extension cord. It’s about 20 – 25 feet from my house. The aurora affect does fade out pretty quickly at thay distance but the lasers have great range. They easily reach the 2nd story of my house which is about 50 ft from the projector. In terms of coverage, it spans from my lawn all the way up to the top of the 2nd story, so it’s quite a great product overall at the ~$110 price point.

Its also awesome that it supports bluetooth/wifi/Matter and voice assistants as well as scheduling. Now the only question is how long it will last!

I purchased mine on Govee’s site. I was really disappointed when i got these. The light coming from this is very dull and not bright at all. I had it in my front yard steaked into my lawn. I also have to say the stake is poorly designed and when hitting it with a hammer, i thought i was going to break it. The features arnt that special. Overpriced for what you get. Hopefully with a software update it will help with the lack of light. If you are going to use these make sure there is no other lights in your yard. Otherwise you wont see this at all……

I love govee products so I was very excited to learn this is coming. Unfortunately, my excitement quickly turned to disappointment. This thing is really expensive and way way too dim. Like legit you can barely see the outlines of what it is trying to draw in total darkness.

Really wanted to like this unfortunately it’s going to have to go back.

I like just about everything with this outdoor projector. I will list the pros, and the only con that I can see.
Pros – Amazing coverage! We live in a townhome so I cannot shine this projector directly onto the building. However, I laid it in the middle of our living room facing the ceiling, and it covered the entire ceiling from the living room into the kitchen. I bought this to put on our patio and it covers just about the entire patio, walls and ceiling.
Colors! The colors are very saturated and bright when using the Aurora effects. Bright greens, deep, blues, etc..
Stars! A lot of projectors come with a single color of stars, usually green. This projector has three colors of stars. Blue, green, and red. Which makes this a lot more versatile than most projectors.
Patterns! There are 16 different patterns, from Halloween themed pumpkins and bats, to Christmas themed trees, and reindeers. Also throw in some hearts and birthday cakes. This feature allows this projector to not just be for the holidays but for any occasion. You can even use it for Valentine’s Day with the hearts make a red white and blue for Fourth of July or just all different colors for a party.

Cons – I only found one and that is the color red, the color red does not shine as bright as all the other colors in the Aurora settings or in the pattern settings. Sometimes it was hard to make out that there was a red skull pattern because it was very dim, even at 100% brightness. So all the other colors shine bright, but the color red seems to struggle.
If I had to be nitpicky, I would say the DIY option on the app needs some work. It does not seem to operate correctly when I select patterns. For example, create a scene, select Christmas tree trees as my pattern, and it would not show. Hopefully that’s something that can be fixed with a firmware update.
*Note* if you are planning to shine this onto a surface that has a darker shade of paint, it will not be as bright as it would be on a lighter surface.
So in conclusion, I really do love this outdoor projector. It’s a lot of fun and adds a little something extra to the holidays, or for any day you feel like you need some bright lights and stars in your life!
