Review for Tempur Luxe Egyptian sheet set
I was so excited to see these sheets offered in split king size. My husband and I have an adjustable bed and it uses this size of sheet. Split king is not an easy to find size and I appreciate Tempur-Pedic offering this size selection. I usually have to buy separate pieces so I was very happy to be able to get the whole matching set together.
This set of sheets lists for well over $300 (although they were on sale when I ordered) and carries Temper-Pedic’s name so I was expecting a good set of sheets. Upon first opening I was pleased. The sleepy blue color is a beautiful soft blue. The fabric felt smooth with a silky finish. I looked at the flat sheet first-inspecting the sewing and it was all good. The stitches were a good length and the ends were backstitched to prevent unraveling of the threads. Next I checked the two twin size fitted sheets. The elastic straps to hold the sheets tight to the mattress is a good feature. But I was disappointed with the corner seams. Like most manufacturers, the fitted sheets and pillowcases (unlike the flat sheet) were sewn with an overlock/serged seam. This type of stitch always results in a tail of stitches left. You are supposed to finish off these tails so they don’t unravel. On my set of sheets the tails had been trimmed off fairly short and two of the seams were already starting to unravel because this type of stitches will just start unraveling if they are not finished off properly. Then I looked at the pillowcases. One was ok but the other one had one seam that had either already come unraveled and the tread cut or more likely the sewer just didn’t bother to sew the entire seam and left the seam unsewn as shown in one of my photos.
So I will have to go in and resew the corner seams on the fitted sheets and finish off the pillowcase seam. I think this is unacceptable sewing for even a cheap set of sheets much less a set at this price point. The fabric feels nice but I am not certain it measures up to the cost but part of that feeling could be coming from how disappointed I am with the sewing. If I didn’t have a sewing machine or at least know how to hand sew then these sheets wouldn’t get the three stars from me. But I do have a good machine and I can fix these sheets but I shouldn’t HAVE to spend my time and effort fixing them.

These sheets are like crawling into the lap of luxury. They are buttery soft, cool to sleep on. The more they are washed the softer they become. Excellent quality stitching. Very luxurious. Wash and dry well. Awesome purchase.
