This is my 4th Dewalt router from this series. All of them work beyond my needs and I have no complaints. Why so many? I have one base attached to a table top router. I have a fixed base attached to a custom made router sled that I use to make tapered legs for my modern pet furniture. I have a plunge router base that I only use for certain aspects of my pet furniture and I have a fixed base that is available for other projects. All in all, I have 3 motors and 4 bases. If you are not familiar with this interchangeable series from DeWalt, you should seriously consider it. I am not a serious wood worker even though I make furniture and I couldn’t imagine doing what I do with out this type of system. Since I have some bases permanently fixed to a number of jigs, I can simply add the motor when I want to use a particular base. So easy to use and really a great value.

Dewalt make great products! Durable and most are backed by a year warranty. This router works great only wish there was a battery operated product like this.

I am a home woodworker who used to work in a custom woodshop. Our favored brand was Delta (later Porter Cable) and my home router was one of these smaller PC models. Worked well for many years and small enough to fit into one hand. That model recently quit working and is no longer made. Other more recent PC tools have been poorly made and seem designed for the home market and not nearly as robust as before. Hence, this DeWalt router was the closest model I could find. VERY happy with it. It’s a bit bigger and not able to fit in one hand, but still small enough to handle easily. The depth adjustment is far better design than the PC model giving much better control to small adjustments. Plenty of power to handle 1/4″ or 1/2″ shank bits and totally pleased after one month of use.

To get five stars, you have to knock my socks off. I would say a decent router for the price. This one is my second. I bought it to use as a fixed router in a table rather than the hand-help type. My other B&D is fine for hand-held but wouldn’t go in the router table I got (Bosch). This one went it well and works fairly well. Fairly well rather than great because it is a little hard to adjust the height easily. I’m not sure, other than a table lifter, that any others would be that much better either, but consider that. My B&D is a hard one to adjust the height on also, and it isn’t fixed to a table. I do like the 1/2″ capability. I have pulled it out of the table and used the hand-held option when I needed to use a 1/2″ bit that I couldn’t do on the table. My B&D is only 1/4″. Never paid that much attention to that until then. It worked fine as a hand-held that time so no real gripes there. It does power through the material nicely. So far, walnut, cherry, oak, pine, all done well.
3 year update- still working fine. About to use it again tomorrow. I don’t use it a great deal but it gets a fair workout.

Writing this nearly half a year later so I can feel how well it works over time. Works as intended and I’ve been using it every weekday. I bought it to replace the one at work because they refuse to replace busted equipment. I really hope it last several more years, so far all cords and bits still fit tight and proper.

I really enjoy dewalt products I have many. This one was shipped without the collets and nuts to hold the bits. Contacted dewalt and they will be sending them out asap great service just a quick easy phone call and they fixed me right up.

I love this router. It reminds me of the old Stanley routers. Only thing I don’t like is the 2 in 1 collet nut. Guess I need to get use to it.

This is my second DeWalt router purchase. I am having to replace all of my Porter Cable 690 routers, best routers ever made, because They were discontinued several years ago and repair parts are getting hard to find for them. I have a production cabinet and furniture shop so these thing get put through the wringer here. The DeWalt routers have seem to hold up well to a production environment.
