I’ve always liked, and used Dewalt tools for decades now. I recently purchased a newer 20v drill, but still have a working 14.4v too. I ain’t getting any younger, and my list of stuff to get done never seems to get any shorter.
I was using the old fashioned type caulking gun, and noticed my forearms, and hands just don’t have the strength they used to have, and found myself struggling to get through what should have been a short project. So I thought: “I wonder if they make a powered caulking gun?”
Enter the DEWALT 20V MAX Caulking Gun, Cordless, 10oz, Variable Speed Trigger, Interchangeable Canister Trays, Bare Tool Only (DCE560B)
I picked it up June 22, 2024, and wanted to wait until I had a chance to use it before posting a review.
First, I don’t care if your a pro, or a seasoned DIY’er, your going to need to put in a little bit of practice before you dive into a project.
This one comes with variable six speeds, and I haven’t yet found a reason to go past two. The material I’m working with flows PDQ. Perhaps with a thicker material, I’d use a setting higher than two.
Second, I found that on setting one, if I flick the trigger, and let the material flow, I get a great bead going, then wait for it to slow a bit, “trigger flick”, wait for it to slow, and on like that til the job is done.
If I squeeze the trigger all the way down, and run a bead, when I release the trigger, the anti-drip kicks in and draws the plunger back. You’ll see what I mean once you get a chance to use this cool caulking gun,
At any rate you’ll pry this great DeWalt tool from my cold dead hands before I part with it. I’ve redone all the exterior window sills, as well as some gaps in the eves, and all the exterior wood trim around the windows and doors.
No sore hands or forearms, I get a ton of work done, and the results look great!

I discovered that the Dewalt Caulking Gun works Great if you make sure the Tube of the Caulk has the Tip Cut and the SEAL Inside the Tube is Pierced. My Gun worked fine on one Brand of Caulk and started Failing with other Brands. The Caulk started backing up in the gun and beyond the plunger. Caulk Companies are not telling people that they are sealing some of the Tubes in addition to requiring you cut the end of the nozzle. Many people are throwing away tubes of Caulk and think that the Dewalt Caulking Gun is Failing. The Dewalt Tool is not Failing; it’s the Unpierced Tube of Caulk. I don’t know why the Caulk Companies are not telling people to Pierce the Tube after Cutting the End of the Tube. I wasted 4 tubes of Caulk before I figured out what was happening. I am beyond Happy with this Tool and Highly Recommend it to the Professional and to all Do It Yourselfers. I rate this Tool a 10+++++++. Dewalt has a metal piece mounted on the gun that lets you pierce all internal seals. Enjoy this Tool! It saved me days doing barn roofs.

I’d been looking at something like this for a while, I’ve got several dewalt tools and I liked the features of this best.
I had read the reviews and I can tell you that if you open the tube fully, put the speed adjustment on the highest setting and fully squeeze the trigger you will make a huge mess, this thing will shove caulk, concrete, silicone or whatever out very fast, on the other end, if you turn the speed control all the way down and barely squeeze the trigger it will take forever to get much product out. I really like the fact that you can cut the tip on an angle and rotate the tube in the gun so you can get a smooth bead going around corners and irregular edges, it’ll take some practice but you can get a good bead with this little jewel. I loaned it to a coworker that was putting in a powered vent in the top of an rv at work, he said he was very impressed with the ease of use and control, he was glad I cautioned him about how fast this thing can put out the silicone, he got the vent installed quickly with no hand cramping either.
I talked to a windshield installer that had one, he told me he likes this better than even the milwaukee branded ones and apparently some of his coworkers are switching over to dewalt now.
As far as how long will a battery pack last while using this, depends on the size and condition of the pack, type of product you are using and how fast you are pushing the product out, I used just a little 2 amp hour pack, fully charged and used about 5 tubes of silicone and still had power to spare.

For jobs that require lots of caulking this is a great tool. The output is consistent at any speed. The lowest speed is very much low enough for the small beads.
IT WORKS WELL WITH THE 1 and 2 amp batteries so that helps to reduce the weight a bit.
The tube holder can easily be removed and switched for a different size or type (like the sausage tubes)

The tool is heavy, not too heavy but it’s not at all like the manual guns.
The poker doesn’t always stay in its catch. A slight bend downward would help but I didn’t think of that until it was too late…
I dropped this thing (UGH) and the poker snapped off, never to be put back on again because it’s attached by a rivet and it was that river that allowed for the extra play which then allowed for it to not snap into the catch.
Some of the better manual guns have both a poker and a cutter. This one doesn’t have a cutter. Dewalt is usually very innovative and smart in their designs with things like this being built in, so I’m a bit surprised they didn’t spend some extra time and money on figuring out how to have a cutter, and a better poker fastener.
The automatic reverse for the anti-drip doesn’t always prevent a drip. The top trigger allows for the pressure to be released, and…

since the this release trigger and the power Trigger are right next to each other it’s really not a problem except for that the user needs to remember to release the pressure. It sure is a better placement for the button than on the manual ones, where you’d always have to look for that button, unless you are using it everyday like you’re married to the thing and can do it without looking.
CON
For me, I always have to remember to release the pressure, which I don’t like since the anti-drip auto-reverse is supposed to always work.

I had the entire house to do. Best quote was $2,300. It made my life much more easier and saved me a ton on money, although I bought the best caulking on the market because I don’t want to do it soon again. Take you time, clean your stuff when switching tubes. Great product.

Nice unit. Well made tool. However, there is quite a learning curve to using it. Especially if you are used to using a manual caulk gun. The slowest setting is still quite fast for some things, so you may want to practice a bit if what your doing needs to look nice, close up. Like interior projects.
If you have trouble with manual gun keeping a good bead, this provides a more consistent flow, but have to move at a good pace to keep up with flow. Its a good idea, but wish it could be readjusted to go slower than slowest setting.

Works fantastic and gives a nice steady bead. Get one! and never worry about a steady pump again. Dial on gun easily controls flow from slow (like REAL slow) to ‘i gotta get this job done now’ fast! cant say enough about how good this works.
