The Fluidmaster was recommended to me by a friend when I mentioned that I was installing a new water-efficient toilet at my place. The price was right (under $10), so I figured to give it a try. I watched the company installation video online and the install seemed straightforward enough. This was my first time installing a toilet myself.
The only issue I ran into was that the video explained what to do to get the right spacing/height for the install, whether the flange was at, above, or below floor level. Depending on the situation a spacer (included) may or may not be needed. Mine was right in between, at and just below floor level, so the spacer (included) was just slightly too tall for my toilet to seat properly on the floor. No biggie and an easy fix, as I simply took a blade to the spacer, which is made of heavy-duty foam-like material, and cut it in half to get the right height. This worked like a charm and the rest of the job went quickly and smoothly.
As long as the materials are durable and long-lasting, if I ever need to remove, repair, or replace my toilet I’m sure the clean up and removal of the Fluidmaster will make it all much easier. I would definitely use this product again and I highly recommend it.
My only caveat is that if for some reason, a flange is more than 1/4″ below the flooring, an additional or taller spacer might be needed and this is not included.

My old wax ring was leaking badly. You know, you have to resolve to do an unpleasant job but at least do it the easiest way. Thats what the Fluidmaster kit is, the easiest, nicely made and I suspect most effective way to seal up your toilet watertight first time out of the starting gate. There’s a BIG reason there’s so many 5-star reviews!!! It’s priced right and the design is way better than a one-shot unforgiving wax ring. So ordered the kit, removed my leaker toilet and its shot eroded wax ring cleaned everything and BANG… Installed wax free seal. Man like what a breeze, fast, simple and easy!!! totally easy to readjust if needed. Would I ever use wax again? not a chance! Thanks to Amazon fast service!!

The toilet flange sits on top of the floor by about 3/8″. The toilet outlet is flush with the base of the toilet and the depth of the tapered toilet outlet is 3/4″. The Fluidmaster seal (without the black extender of course) adds too much thickness and causes the toilet to rock and not sit flat on the floor.
I tried removing the 1/4″ black foam from the blue seal but that still wasn’t enough. The 3 raised ribs on the top of the seal added 1/8″ or so causing the problem.
Since the Amazon return window expired a few days ago and the cost of the seal was less than $10 I decided to try to cut the ribs off. The main sealing to the toilet is the inner rib shown with my finger in the picture. The seal to the flange is silicone to silicone with the tapered toilet porcelain providing the pressure to seal.
It did rock ever so slightly until I put weight on it, The acid test was to fill the bowl and look for leaks. Fortunately there were none!
I really didn’t want to use a wax ring to seal toilet, as it makes such a mess if the toilet needs to be removed. Fortunately I managed to make this work, but buyer beware. The instructions say absolutely nothing about dimensional requirements of the toilet concerning its’ output, or the height requirements of the flange.
