I purchased a refurbished Ring doorbell which worked great except it would not hold a charge but for one day. I purchased this so I could do the proverbial hardwire and within 2 hours it was fully charged from 24% to 100%. Least expensive way to go and I couldn’t be happier. I will say that Ring is the worst setup for battery life even on a new unit in charging. You should not have to take a unit off the wall with tiny little screws once a month to charge a ring unit. They need to come up with a better way. Not my first video doorbell but I needed to be able to see it from the back of the house via Amazon echo and ring is the only thing that works with it. Anyway the other one that I purchased lasted 6 months via the battery so for ring to work for one month is just ridiculous. I also had to purchase those subscription plan which I’ve never had to do before but bring his corner to market unaccessories which leaves us kind of stuck. This is the reason that it’s not getting 5 stars because these units really do work very well.

I bought two of these power supplies to run a couple of non battery Ring units in a house where i have no doorbells. With a little judicious routing wire routing (to keep things from looking nasty) and some additional inexpensive bell wire (to reach the extra three feet i needed) i was able to get both of the Ring units working to my satisfaction. There is enough volts, amps, watts (whatever… i am vaguely aware of that sort of magic jiggery) in the power supplies to run the Rings at full capability, and hooking them up couldn’t be easier. You don’t need any special resistors or diodes and it doesn’t matter which terminals you hook the wires to, Rings are AC not DC so there isn’t a positive or negative.
Both my power supplies worked properly and are well made… i don’t know what happened with other peoples units that they didn’t work… unless they accidentally touched the wires together while the power supply was plugged in and burn them out… don’t do that. I am happy with these things and will buy more if i need to set up other Ring equipment. I have built power supplies for Rings out of doorbell transformers and resistors and these things are WAYYYY easier to work with.

Works perfectly for Nest Hello! Amazon doesnโt promote items that arenโt for the Ring line up, and it can be difficult to find adapters for the Google Nest doorbell. This one is just perfect. At 8โ cord length, and voltage in the range required to power the Nest (nest Hello needs 16-24volts at all times as it is not battery operated or rechargeable) this power adapter works perfectly for people like me who do not have pre existing hardwired doorbells.
Highly recommend. Even the cable ends have perfect U-shaped brackets that are simple to attach on the rear of your video doorbell.

Update: 2/22/19
After posting my 1 star review I was contacted by the seller who was more than happy to remedy my situation. It’s a shame the QC is lacking as far as the product, but I was sent a replacement that is now working as it should. Now it’s just a matter of how long this will actually continue to work. So I will update as necessary.
This is a total waste of money! I’m not sure how this item has such a high star rating. I charged my battery before connecting this power supply and 2 days later I’m already at like 40% (I use LIVE VIEW a lot), but as you can see in the picture it’s still showing that it’s being supplied by the battery and NOT the adapter! I was really hoping this would work, since I go through charge quite fast with Live View on. Will be returning and asking Amazon for a refund!

Very easy to install, works great however you should probably have Staples or something keep the cord laying down flat it’s so thin which actually works if you don’t have an outside outlet you have to lead it in through the house .

I purchased this item to keep charging my Ring Door Bell, in order to avoid frequent battery recharging issues. Even though it is continuously connected to the A/C outlet the ring door bell shows battery is discharging too fast and charge kept reducing continuously. Now it came 20% after full recharging it with provided battery charger. This is useless I think. Any way I will keep an eye until it get discharged full to confirm.

This arrived and I had a small issue that the seller dealt with right away. Great customer service and a product that keeps my RING doorbell charged. Thank you!!

Purchased this do to our house not having a previous door bell.
Product worked perfectly with the above mentioned door bell as advertised.
Only fault would be the packaging was rather banged up and shipping could use more bubble wrap or the like.
If your like us and need a power supply for a smart doorbell this will do the job.
BACKER KALLOOR –
Only used this charger for just over 6 months. Stopped charging my Ring doorbell. Reached out to company that makes them and tuff luck. Note they only give you 90 days to return. Disgusting you pay almost $50.00 for something that only works for 6 months. Extremely disappointed that Amazon deals with this company!!! Will never buy again from them!

Updated review 3/17/2018: this thing is WORTHLESS and should NOT be advertised that it works withโat the very leastโthe original Ring doorbell. Maybe it works with Ring โProโ as the Pro has no internal battery supply. But I can confirm that after a week of connection, this power supply has done absolutely nothing to keep an original Ring โhardwiredโ.
I opted to replace my original doorbell transformer with a more powerful 16v 30VA transformer…connected the Ring back to its original wiring and instantly got the white led button back and Ring app has updated that it is hardwired again. Save yourself the hassle of trying to make this power supply plug work and just update your doorbell transformer instead. Iโll be returning this plug ASAP.
[INITIAL REVIEW 3/5/2018] First off, I am working with an Original Ring Doorbell (purchased around 2015). The doorbell was hardwired originally and worked as advertised up until this past month. I am not exactly sure what happened–either the button on the Ring got stuck, or the interior analog doorbell chime it was connected to seized and broke, possibly (?) burning out the wiring…but I found one day that my doorbell was running off of battery power and the interior chime no longer worked. I disconnected the interior chime from the transformer in the garage and capped the low voltage wiring ends of the existing doorbell wiring.
I decided instead of replacing the existing chime, transformer and wiring, that I would bypass them entirely and try this Power Supply Adapter out as I have a GFI outlet directly below our doorbell. It proved to be a very simple installation, running conduit inside and up to the doorbell hole and then plug the adapter into the covered GFI. It should be noted, when reinstalling the Ring doorbell, I had first let it charge on its USB cord until it reached a full 100% as indicated by the Ring app.
Here are my findings as after roughly 1 week of use:
— The ring app still shows that the doorbell is running off “battery” power, i.e. it has not switched over to being “hardwired” as the instructions describe and as I remember it originally doing when I first hardwired the doorbell in 2015
— Given the above, when receiving a doorbell motion/ring or checking in on live view, the battery percentage will show a drop of 3-5% or so after moderate usage (lets say 2-5 minutes worth of live view at least 2-3x a day is our baseline for “moderate” usage).
— Roughly 12-24 hours after the above moderate usage, checking the Ring app will indicate the battery percentage at a higher value than before. Example: after using live view for a few minutes, I check to find the battery percentage at 85%. If I check it the next day, the battery appears to be at 93%–indicating that it is perhaps recharging (???)
I am curious if any other purchasers have experienced similar usability like what I’ve described above? I am definitely not getting the white Ring around the button which, as the instructions describe, indicates hard-wiring, and the battery percentage definitely seems sporadic. I am perfectly fine with updating this review to 4-stars if it keeps the battery supply from fully draining since the USB-recharge method is very annoying when you have to pull the doorbell off the wall for a few hours. There is still the variable in play that perhaps the mounting bracket that Ring attaches to was compromised when the interior doorbell chime failed–but I am not sure how to test that…and further, if it WAS bad, I would assume the Ring Doorbell wouldn’t function properly—which is NOT the case. Everything works fine, including the doorbell button, motion detection/even capturing and live view. I will report back my findings in another month, but would also love feedback from both Wasserstein and other users.
