• Cheap
• Quality is ok
• Night Color Vision is great
• Has ONVIF support
• Motion Detection(Person, pet, vehicle) works better than expected in the day
Cons
• Quality isn’t 2k quality(runs at a very low bitrate ~1Mbps. Might be on par with 720p/1080p quality)
• Can’t change bitrate
• Color saturation is a bit off
• Can’t change the colors
• 20FPS max
• Only uses 2.4ghz Wi-Fi( please give us the option to use 5ghz. 2.4ghz is oversaturated and slow. Not everyone has their camera far away from their router)
• No H265 support
• Camera disconnects easily just by moving it even though the USB-C is connected
• No WI-FI 6 support
• Person detection doesn’t work great when it’s night(Infrared mode)

For the price this camera is great. I have it inside not outside so i can only talk on that part. But the magnet mount seems very strong. No issues with setup and no issues at all. The video quality is great as it the connection quality too.

Ich hatte schon mal die Kamara gekauft bin sehr zufrieden. Bei diesem Kauf habe leider eine englisch Adapter Version bekommen. Denn kann ich leider nicht benutzen für die deutschen Steckdosen 😂.

Got this to check up on my 8 week old puppy. Works a treat and picture quality is pretty good. I can talk to my dog through the camera from miles away which is a bonus. For the money you can’t go wrong. Easy setup and use.

I first tried the Blink Mini and was very unimpressed. It constantly lost connection, had poor picture quality once you zoomed in, and the camera would not stay in place on its swivel. I swapped it for this camera – It is amazing!!
Very clear and accurate picture (2k vs 1080p on others), a robust app that allows you to customize schedules, various detection, notification types, etc (Blink had 1 option – you either get notified for everything or nothing, regardless of time/day), an inexpensive cloud storage system, multiple mounting options, and a 9 ft cord (vs 6 for on others).
So far, this is a fantastic value!

Easy to use easy to set up it works better if your internet is faster we have 3 cameras not sure if it is affected by multiple cameras or not. When I bought the camera I thought it would rotate but unfortunately it doesn’t however it does have a very wide angle lens. It doesn’t pick up every incident of motion some things get past it but you can set it up to continuously record and schedule continuous or motion detected recording. Price was great especially for the quality of the pictures and sound. I wish there was a battery option for it. I can’t believe I didn’t get this sooner since it was so affordable. The app is good but not great I spent a lot of time trying to find some features only getting frustrated maybe a video explaining all it can do and how to set up would be great.

I am NOT new (12 YEARS and TWO other brands) to the home camera arena for sure. I came to notice how many models of the Tapo’s there were. I then dove in and figured what was best for me. One of my criteria was that it didn’t force cloud storage and subscription service on you, an SD card would be all you need. It also had to have Motion and Sound detection, and higher resolution than what I was used to was an extra treat.
I decided upon the indoor/outdoor Tapo C120’s knowing they would be for indoor use as all my others in the past were. This gives me an option to move any outdoors if I ever had a need. I use a couple of them, instead of being outdoors, on windowsills or on door glass pointing outside. So that you know, if you plan to use in this way, you can not have night vision on. You would get a glass reflection of the night vision sensors. This way has worked fine for me for every model in my past 12 year line-up, as long as there is a porch light, street light, entry door light, some kind of light you are fine.
There were several incredible, unexpected surprises after I installed 4 of these. The image quality is amazing, super sharp and clear. The App is super fast and responsive compared to my old… You can easily and instantly swipe between cameras, or just as swiftly look at recorded events (alarms). You can even put the camera’s in grouped batches of 4-up on a screen together. The flexibility in mounting options make it super easy to put wherever you would like. I am amazed at the difference and how far the technology has come in such a short time. Oh and did I say the price is a fraction of all the other I purchased in the past ? I can buy four Tapo C120’s for the price of ONE of either of my old brands.
Right now I am running all 4 Tapo’s remotely in another home and plan to purchase more for primary home and do away with my older inferior brand. My situation was kind of unique and I had some questions, so I reached out to Technical Support. I have to give a shout out to Cliff as my main Technical Support contact. The team went over and above any expectations I ever could imagine from a support standpoint.
I have passed my knowledge onto friends and family about these, as you can’t beat these cameras all in all. The price point, the quality, no nagging monthly bills, you can’t go wrong ! Tiny investment with a huge bang for your buck. I am not writing this review for promotional purposes or any of the such…. I am writing it because when I come across a stand-out product and customer service together, I want to tell my story for others.

I have now bought three of these cameras and installed at two properties. I was so impressed with the first one that I bought the other two to replace a couple of Nest cameras I had at the other property. I control all of them from one app on my smartphone. Installation is really easy, the picture quality is very impressive and can be enlarged and panned around also very easily. I have also installed 64GB microSD cards in each of them, which provides several weeks worth of video capture. When the card is full, it simply loops round and overwrites the oldest videos with the latest ones. Videos can also be downloaded. All of this with no subscription required 🙂 One tip which is worth noting is that I have mine on daylight mode all the time. I have them installed at double glazed windows and found that night mode was hopeless due to the reflection of the low light emitted by the camera itself. Day mode at night still provides a decent amount of visibility even under very low external light conditions. The functionality and value of this camera is way better than the first generation Nest cameras that I previously had. Very satisfied. 🙂
