I LOVE THIS TENT! It’s sooooo big it feels like glamping haha the top is removable to let the air in and perfect for night sky gazing. I think it’s durable and was a good price when I bought it. It wasn’t too difficult to set up although it would help with two people it’s def doable with one. The whole case also wasn’t heavy once it’s all packed up, and we got it all back into the original case when we were done camping too! It fit a full size thick thick air mattress and a twin size air mattress, we also had room in the middle for a small makeshift table. It was perfect for camping and we can’t wait to use it again soon! I wish I had a better pic but I was busy living it up in the wilderness haha you understand!

I give 4 stars because there is not dividers in the tent.
Its nice and big but only one space.
I thought it must be inside dividers between the bedrooms and unfortunately NOT.
Other than that it’s a good quality tent!

I bought this tent in 2015 and we have used it for two weekend camping trips each year since we bought it. It is comfortable and roomy. It is easy to set up with the color coded poles. It does take up a relatively large footprint so you need to be sure that you have ample room to set it up. Setup takes about 10 minutes with 2 people. I am 6ft 2in. tall and I can stand up in the center section of the tent. There are handy loops in the ceiling to hang a couple lights or a lightweight, battery powered fan. The lower left corner of the tent has a handy flap for running an extension cord into the tent without having to run it through the door. The only issue that we have ever had was that the straight pole for the door hinge ended up poking through the bottom of the gasket that it mounts into. It’s more of an aesthetic problem than a function problem. The door still works fine.

This item is exactly as described, for those writing reviews that it wasn’t authentic Coleman make sure you are ordering from a legit seller on Amazon. The one I got is definitely authentic as I’ve seen a few other tents that people bought at other stores and it matches up exactly.

The first time putting it up took us awhile, maybe 30-40 minutes with two adults a teenager and a kid. It would have probably gone faster but the only one of us who had ever set up a tent was myself who was told to stand back and read them the instructions. The three of them insisted they wanted to learn how to set it up and take it down on their own. So I read them instructions and showed them parts and held onto things as needed and the three of them got it up just fine. They didn’t feel that it was too hard and feel that in the future with more practice they will get it up faster and easier each time. Also take down was quicker, and this time since it was just a reverse of before I wasn’t even needed there for instructions. They had me sit back while they took it down, again so that they could learn. I also challenged them to get EVERYTHING that came out of the main bag to go back into the main bag. And snap if they weren’t able to do it! It did slow them down because they had to slow down and make sure they were getting air pushed out of it to get it rolled up as tight as possible. I don’t know that on every occasion it will fit back into the bag but, hey challenge accepted this time and they did do it!

We didn’t have any rain, dew or moisture as it was a hot California Indian summer…yeah it is October and that day temps were in the low 90’s! Yikes! That meant at night we were able to leave the windows open for a nice breeze and most of the night we slept on our sleeping bags with nothing, or a light blanket in the early morning cooler hours. So that means I can’t say how good it does against rain, but in the future when I find out I will update this review.

It was calm all afternoon and evening, but early morning while we were asleep the wind started to blow. You could hear it howling and it was going fast and hard out there…rattled our tent but everything stayed secured. Even our rainfly, which surprised us we expected it to blow towards the side we secured it on and possibly to the ground. We only secured it with the hooks that go near the poles and velcro, only using the guylines on the front to help support the entry way. We did not secure any guylines on the sides or back. The winds were strong enough to knock over our chairs and stuff off the table, so it wasn’t just a light breeze! Woke my son up and startled him a bit.

The one thing that I did notice that matched up with other reviews is on the door. It was hard to get the pole in, you have to do it in the right order or you risk tearing the tent…I thought my hubby was going to, it was close! However it didn’t, he pulled things back apart tried again in a different order and they all went in easily. Also we mostly used the zipper to keep the door closed because velcro didn’t line up 100% or if it did fabric would get in the way. You had to slid your finger along to keep the fabric out of the way and wiggle the door around to get the velcro to line up. It was doable, but it seemed to take just as long as zipping it. One piece lined up well so if you trusted that one piece to secure and keep bugs out then you were okay. We were worried because we had a high number of flies in our area sow e wanted to keep them out completely and felt the zipper did a better job. I did like the D shape though, I remember many times as a kid getting my hair caught or tangled in the zipper while trying to duck through the V opening with the zipper pull at the top.

Ours even included a zippered slot near the front left corner that you could run a power cord through as needed. It had a window in the door and a window on each side of the tent. It had one pocket about half way up the tent on each side as well. Good for those of us that wear glasses to safely stash them without worry of someone rolling over on them and breaking them.

This tent could sleep a full 8 people if they were all not huge people and didn’t mind touching. The two kids settled down on one side of the tent and me and hubby on the other side of the tent. My son as some point in the night come over and snuggled up to his down (maybe due to the wind spooking him) and later when his teen sister realized she was alone she came over and squished in next to me. We all did fit along the one side, however we were touching edges and didn’t mine if our bodies touched, legs slung over each other ect. Four grown men who would want to keep space between them would not fit, so size just depends on how much room you really feel you need. It is a good sized tent for a family of four.

I assembled this tent after receiving it so that I could inspect it and apply seam sealer. The tent itself is very good. It has almost everything I wanted in a tent: a tub floor to prevent ground level leaks, a “D” shaped door (“T” shaped doors have a gap where the zippers meet allowing water/critters to get in), a big screen roof for warm summer days. The only thing it was missing was a floor vent, which is available in the “elite” version, but I could not justify the extra expense for what amounts to a vent and a light. This tent does offer some nice extras that were not on my wish list. Those include good headroom almost anywhere in the tent (not just in the center), a slit for running an extension cord (which will be nice to charge phones/GPSs/2-way radios on long car-camping trips), a large awning over the door when the rain fly is on, and a rigid door with velcro. The rigid door will be very nice camping with kids who sometimes struggle with zippers and seem to always need to be reminded to zip the tent back up. My only gripe other than the lack of a floor vent is the fact that the rainfly is huge and difficult to put on unless you have a helper. The tub floor also causes a tripping hazard by the door but that is unavoidable if you want a tub floor so this is not a negative but something people may want to be aware of.

I am quite happy with the tent itself and would have easily given it a 4 or 5 star rating. However, one of the poles arrived with some slight damage to the elastic band. Inside the box we had no fewer than 4 sheets of paper telling us not to return the tent if we had problems but instead to call the Coleman 800 number for a resolution. I followed their instructions since the damage was minor. Unfortunately, it was the weekend and the offices were closed. I called back on Monday and reported the information. I then had to wait a day for their warranty department to send me an email. The email requested photographs of my receipt and the damaged parts to verify I was telling the truth about the date of purchase and the problem I reported. I responded promptly and a few days later I received the new poles… however they were too long. The part number of the replacement poles matched the “replacement pole” kit number in the tents instructions so I contacted Coleman again only to learn that they do not stock specific poles and I would have to use the kit to construct my own replacement poles. Since my damage was minor, this was more of an annoyance than anything else. However, if you have a more serious issue like a cracked or missing pole or anything wrong with the tent itself, then I would recommend exchanging the entire tent rather than going through the Coleman warranty department.

    ** UPDATE **
I just added one star to the review.

We took this tent on a two week camping trip. During the trip, we broke down the tent every 2-3 days to move to a new location. Temperatures ranged from the mid 30s in some locations to the mid 80s in others. Despite only being three of us in the tent, it held the heat pretty well in cold locations (seemed to be about 10 degrees warmer in the tent) but the ventilation was still good in warm locations and it did not turn into an oven. We saw strong winds one night and dizzel a few other nights, neither had any effect on the tent. One evening there was a very strong downpour as we were eating dinner. We were in bear country and did not want to take the food in the tent so we ran to the car to finish eating and then wait out the storm. About 45 minutes later, the rains subsided enough for us to return the the tent. I checked the floors and could not find a single drop of water!

The pole help up well and we got pretty good at assembling the tent. One evening we pulled into the campsite with a storm bearing down on us (though it ended up just missing us). Two of us got the tent assembled with the rain fly on “good enough” (ie attached to the tent but not tied down) in under 10 minutes. Other nights we took our time and it probably took closer to 20 minutes. The tent itself goes up quick, just stake it down at 8 points, and insert 4 poles. The poles go in pretty easily do no not snag much on the fabric. The rainfly is the putsy part. It is difficult to determine what is the front and the tent is so high that it almost needs two people to put it on. Once on, there 8 bungied clips that are attached to 4 of the tents stake points (2 clips at each point) and a bajillion velcro tabs that attach to the poles. Once all the velcro points are attached then you need to add another pole and then stake down the flaps near the entry. Needless to say, if you know the weather will be nice, skip the rain fly. We ended up missing one of the velcro points one night and as the wind blew the felcro rubbed against the screened roof and frayed it a little.

Overall, though I am very pleased with this tent. It was bone dry after a heavy rain, was easy to put up and take down, was comfortable, and has tons of room. It also packs up to a relatively small area despite being such a large tent.
