I have one on my Hobie and the transducer is mounted underneath. When fish are stacked up like the striper run in the Hudson you can see them there, they might not be biting though. The big thing I want to know is how deep the water is and what the bottom looks like. One minute you are in deep water the next it’s shallow and full of weeds. In the bay, I can navigate the channel and stay where I want to be while drifting or trawling for fluke etc. Water temp is useful, speed is also useful. I often trawl and I want to keep my speed at around 1.5-2 mph and my Hobie can get up to 4. Now I have a second kayak and was going to just buy the transducer, however, that is about $100 itself and a whole new unit is $70 more! So I got a second one. This will allow me to take my nephew out on my other kayak and he has a fish finder.

L’ecoscandaglio Garmin Striker Vivid 7sv fa al caso mio, facile e intuitivo, lo devo ancora installare in barca ma lo ho già provato e programmato a casa, speriamo duri nel tempo.
Ho solo avuto problemi con il venditore che mi aveva onviato un tracking falso e mi aveva comunicato che il corriere aveva perso il pacco ma non è vero perchè la spedizione non era stata creata, infine dopo 2 settimane finalmente ho ricevuto il mio Garmin.
Quando lo userò un paio di volte in barca aggiornerò la recensione con più dettagli, nel complesso molto contento di aver acquistato questo ecoscandaglio, anche a buon prezzo.

If you are looking for a budget fishfinder that is packed with features, this is it! Clearvu give you an excellent view of what structure really looks like and can be used in conjunction with traditional sonar to help pinpoint fish. I recommend searching up 1cast1fish on YouTube where he explains everything you need to know about using the garmen 4 vivid and how clearvu and traditional sonar works. This fish finder has put me right on the fish and it feels like cheating!
Disclosing my bias, this is my first fish finder and i through around the idea of buying a cheaper walmart fish finder, but i have no regrets paying an extra 50$ to get this unit that has clearvu and gps database to be able to mark the fishing spots. Don’t waste your money on the cheap 100$ fishfinders at walmart and buy this or the higher model instead. A drawback for some maybe the small screen size, but i have absolutely no issue with it. If screen size is a concern then buy the bigger size model.
