Velvet Marmoset –
I love how long the battery life is — over 7 hours for me on the brightest setting! This comes at a small cost, however, but it doesn’t bother me personally — that cost is that you have a battery pack on the back of your head. I have a huge head and it doesn’t bother me, but I’m used to wearing things like helmets for long hours.
It seems fairly rugged for a small headlamp — I didn’t want to submerge it in water unnecessarily, but it was perfectly fine in a light rain for an hour.
The battery itself has a charging port on it, and it can be removed. You can charge it while still attached, or you can remove from the headlamp system it to charge it, which could be handy if you acquire a spare.
Overall, I like it for long jobs in the yard, camping, or even around the house when I need extra task lighting. It won’t be my knitting headlamp (yes, I said knitting), because I like to rest my head against the back of my recliner and the battery pack doesn’t work with that.

Just Buy It! Buy it as an exceptionally well-built general-purpose waterproof headlamp that is fast charging, gives great light distribution, overdelivers on burn times, and has a best-in-class emergency lighting feature. Consider buying 2 or more because it is just that good!
Burn Times – Brightness can be adjusted in 10% steps, so tuning brightness to each situation when used could give very long battery life out of a single charge. Multiple trials averaged and rounded up to the nearest quarter of an hour:
– 6-Hours 45-Minutes – High Beam setting and then an automatic switch to nearly 7-Hours of emergency reserve on Low Beam! Note: To get high beam, you must adjust the light to high after turning it on.
– 7-Hours 30-Minutes – Default Brightness when turned and then an automatic switch to emergency mode as noted above under High Beam.
– 4-Weeks!!! – Low Beam setting. After over 7-Days, I stopped my test and found the battery had been depleted by only 25%! Assuming linear battery life, I calculate it could run for over 4-Weeks on this setting! The lowest setting isn’t bright enough to do major work or move around fast, but it proves this is a great option as an emergency light—because in an emergency some light is better than none!
– Weight – With battery, the headlamp weights 173-grams (6.1-ounces) which is a good balance between price, burn time, features, and intended use as a general-purpose light. Lighter headlamps are available, but those are typically half the burn time, half the brightness, or twice the price.
Battery and Recharging – The removable 900mA Lithium-Ion Polymer (Li-Po) battery recharges to 50% in 1-Hour and 100% in about 4-Hours. It has a USB-C plug, test button, and 5 indicators (On, 25%, 50%, 75%, and 100%) on the top. The Included USB-A to USB-C cord is beefy enough to supply the correct amount of power for full and fast charging. You could purchase additional batteries and swap the spent ones to increase high beam burn times. But sadly, I could not find anything resembling it so if you plan to do that, you’ll need to buy additional headlamps and use batteries from them.
Battery Housing – The battery housing can be removed from the head band with a quarter turn. A nifty feature but not much use since the cord between the battery housing and lamp are hardwired and not long enough to put in a pocket or on a belt. Plus, the lamp itself does not have the same feature.
Waterproof – The battery housing has a rubber gasket and a locking clasp that make it waterproof. The light head itself is likely waterproof too. I would normally disassemble lesser quality lights to verify seals, but I like this light too much to risk opening parts not meant to be opened.
Light Distribution – It gives a good projection forward to make walking or running safe and gives a wide beam for up close work or work in small spaces (tent, crawlspace, etc.).
Truth In Advertising – As to be expected from a recognized name brand such as Energizer, there are no false or misleading advertisements here! This headlamp is a welcome relief after having reviewed so many off-brand rechargeable lights on Amazon that don’t live up to their advertising.

This product is not as per the expectations and brand image. The on/off button is very hard and we can not operate once we wear this light on head. If we keep in hand and use as torch then also very hard to operate. Quality and finishing is poor.

I did not realize the set up consisted of a 5 pound battery pack strapped to your head. Don’t like it. It’s bright, just left if truck for emergency lighting. Good for that I think. Too lazy to return

I have about a dozen headlights from various manufacturers. A couple of items set this Energizer model apart from the others.
1) The battery is an Energizer branded 18650 size with an onboard USB C charger. It also has a small button on the end to enable a 4-segment charge level indicator. That was unexpected and a bonus to me. The stated capacity is 2600 mAh. If you are like me, you have a collection of 18650’s and devices that can use them. 18650’s have become the standard for many devices. The charge rate is limited to 0.9 amps and trails off to <0.5 amps towards the end.
2) The white light has a dimming function. It’s not only a high/low choice. If you click and hold the button, the light will come on at full intensity but then dim and brighten (up and down) for as long as the switch is depressed. Release the button to hold the desired intensity. There is no memory, so you need to repeat the dimming process when you turn it off and on.
3) When you first turn on the light, you have about a second to click the switch again to select the dim or flashing modes. After about a second, if you click the button again, the light will turn off. This is nice because you don’t need to cycle through the modes to turn it off. It will turn off directly from any mode with one click.
Other things:
It always turns on at high intensity.
The battery compartment has an o-ring seal and a compound latch that holds it firmly closed.
The whole battery compartment seems unnecessarily large for just a single 18650 battery.
The elastic headband does not have any extra gipping component to prevent it from slipping off a hard hat. You’ll need another way to keep it secured to a hard hat.
It has a green light that is operated by a second switch. You can also make the green light flash. How useful is that to anyone?
I like that the battery box is separated from the lamp to help balance the assembly. The battery box is significantly heavier than the lamp.
The large capacity battery should yield long run times.
