Everyone knows how great the Yeti is and there is nothing new I can say, but I spent a lot of time picking out this cooler as a gift for a friend. He is an avid outdoorsman who hunts, fishes, boats and camps and trying to decide what size to get him was a huge dilemma. This turned out to be the perfect size to fit in his boat, use as an extra seat and was deep enough to be able to keep some stuff high and dry. Plenty of room to pack for an extended camp trip, not so heavy or long that it is impossible to move. Perfect versatile size. Pronghorn Outfitters had excellent service and shipped it faster than most of my prime orders, with tracking info. Would not hesitate to order from them again.

I did not want to pay this much for a cooler. I did my research and discovered that some of the other brands *MAY* be better. BUT, I found the “TESTS” I watched online to be inconsistent. In the end, the fact that Yeti is established, you can get parts, there is a warranty, and it will retain some value should I wish to sell it, convinced me that Yeti was the right choice.
So I plunked down the dough and a few days later it showed up on my porch. Box was beat, but contents in fine shape. Ours is white and came with the food basket in it, but no divider. I happened to have part of a left-over sheet of black 1/4″ HDPE (marine wood) so I made one.
Before the 10 day trip to Lake Shasta we decided to use the Yeti for meat. So we froze all the steaks, burgers, chicken, bacon, and sausage. I also froze 4 half gallon old orange juice bottles filled with water. We filled the Yeti with frozen meat and bottles of water and headed to Shasta.
First, let me say that this 105 is a big deep ice chest. I needed it to be pretty big, and I wanted it to be deep rather than wide. This is personal preference, a deep chest takes up less floor space than a wide shallow chest, but it also means that finding items in the bottom can be challenging. However, if the chest is very wide it become difficult to carry and get through doors.
At the lake it was between 93 and 105 degrees and 70-80 at night. Never the less, the Yeti kept the meat completely frozen for 6 days. As we took meat out each day we tried to keep the lid shut of course. As meat was removed the frozen bottles of water began to thaw but the meat stayed substantially frozen. We added some ice at day 6, but even though the house boat had two propane powered refrigerator/freezers, we never felt we needed to move the meat to the refrigerators.
On day 8 we added a little ice, and by day 10 we still had 3 pounds of very very cold bacon to take back home.
I also have an Igloo Marine 110 with wheels which we use for keeping drinks cold. Because people are in and out of it all the time we use a LOT of ice. Between the small carry chests and the big Igoo we go through 20+ pounds per day, but the Yeti kept all our meat cool with very little ice. I was very impressed.
I don’t know if an ice chest this expensive will be necessary for weekend trips, but it sure worked well for out long trip.

These coolers are expensive but worth it if you need your stuff to stay cold for a week. I took my cooler on a 7 day trip to the high desert in November and there was still ice in it when I got home. I used two of the 4lb Yeti blue ice, and two of the 2lb and one big bag of loose ice. In comparison my old igloo cooler would have lasted about 3 days max.
I also bought the shorter divider YETI Tundra 105 & 125 Cooler Divider – Short Side, and an extra basket for ease of finding stuff. In the middle of the trip I had to chip the ice off the stuff in the bottom of the cooler.
I picked up the lock set and the tie downs but didn’t use them. I was concerned about camping in bear country but the high desert never was a problem. However I’m glad I’ve got them for the next trip.
I also used a dolly to move it myself from the kitchen to the van. It is bulky/heavy even when empty. Also there is no discount on Yeti products, so you can order these things direct from the manufacturer.

If I could live in it I would, supreme quality and holds temperature insanely, kept ice frozen for 5 days… not cheap but if you want cheap you ain’t looking at Yeti! Buy one and lie to the Mrs about how much it cost like I did!

Would be in the bed of my truck for 2 weeks with 1-2 big bags of ice. In 70-90 degree summer heat. ( the bed was covered so it was hotter)….and it stayed ice cold. I kept some water in there to

It’s perfect still had ice 3 days later. It’s a 5 stars for me but just as a small warning It’s as some weight already so when you fill it up full you will prefer to be two person to move it. Still is a realy good buy.

I wanted to upgrade from a competitor brand cooler and figured while I was spending money, Iโd splurge for a Yeti. It handled several days of camp with ease, although as I upgraded, I also went for a larger cooler, which means itโs bigger and heavier.
It worked great and Iโm pleased. Hopefully it holds up as well as my other.

Nice cooler. Box was in bad shape but cooler was in good shape except the cooler did not come with a plug for the drain. Amazon made good and sent me a drain plug.
