I fish from my “sit in” Kayak” – so space is a constant issue. This tackle box is the perfect size to pack up a few lures, plastic baits and tackle – for a couple hours of kayak fishing. The size if just right that I can set it “standing up” between my knees while sitting in the kayak – without it being constantly in the way. The compartments can be configured using the little plastic dividers such that you can have a mix of “long” and “short” compartments that work great or lures and plastics. I have a large tackle “bag” with multiple trays that serves as my primary storage container for my gear – I simply pick what I plan to take for a few hours on the water and transfer it to the Plano … it’s a great “sub $15” solution for my kayak fishing needs.

I’ve actually had used one of these for years and I bought another one for my niece who has taken a fancy to fishing. I always like this model because it can carry everything a person should need in a weight that is not a burden to carry. I’ve always liked Plano products because they are very well made and have been in the factory in Plano, IL years ago. My niece sent me pictures of this tackle box after she filled it and she told me how much she loved it.

The only complaint I have is the quality of the plastics isn’t the best. For the price, it is fine though. Just don’t expect to get flawless for and finish at this price point.
Holds a lot of gear and having two sides is nice as well.

I load it with species specific fishing tackle for day trips in a small boat or back-country camping so I don’t have to lug around my whole tacklebox. Seems a bit flimsy, but I haven’t had any issues with the lids popping open or tackle making its way from one compartment to another while closed.
Outside dimensions are 11″ (28cm) wide X 8-1/2″ (22cm) long X 3″ (7.5cm) thick. Individual compartments range from 3/4″ to 1-1/4″ deep. Works well for a varied mix of worms/sticks/tubes, hooks, spoons, spinners, jigs, poppers, hollow body frogs, etc…

I like that it’s small enough that I can put just the necessities when I go fishing. But having said that, it’s pretty flimsy and when you have small stuff inside: ie small hooks, swivel, the lid doesn’t seal the compartments very well, your small item tend to spill over into the other compartments.
You can eliminate this problem by placing a double sheet of paper towel on top of the compartments before you close it. This seems to help seal the gap, and keep small items in the own compartment.

Nice, convenient size for the occasional fisherman. Lots of compartments on one side but room for other fishing supplies on the other side, too. Perfect gift for a starter fisherman – it’s not a “kid’s” tackle box but it would be perfect for a kid too – and it’s not too small that it will be outgrown. It will continued to be used…
